A general on high cut the funding/manning 50% off the top before it was even formed. (Allegedly Gen Lord, but that's rumor) AF Space decided to do it again after a year.. cause.. sequestration. And technology, which didn't exist and didn't have a project for, would solve the problem. At least that's what I'm told. Isn't the vESD working great for you? Because of it's success we might be able to take more manpower cuts at the bases. Just.. no. I bet you take it home and plug into your home machine as well don't you? You should ask you "Cybersecurity Liaison" about that interpretation. I don't have admin rights, so you're going to have to call the ESD. Wanted to verify before I posted it, and for some reason the actual order probably shouldn't be posted here, so I'm not going to post it. However, for some strange reason this AF article speaks about it from 2 years ago.. now they're just actually enforcing it.. mission be damned. https://www.luke.af.mil/news/story_print.asp?id=123360066 There's a waiver process.. we got a week to do it for the whole base. OG, specifically the TRS, was not happy. I guess Cyber Leaders don't understand most of you zipper suited sun gods don't have set desks that no one else occupies. Or don't care.. either way.

I'll try to keep all the ranting consolidated to this place and answer your questions here. Of course most of the keyboard ninja stuff isn't going to be anywhere you can google it, so it won't be here either. But I'll post what I can and answer any questions you throw my way. Anyone having fun with the change in policy about the USB hard drives?

Well , there it is. Another letter-to-the-editor in AFTimes claiming Mustache March is exclusionary and tying it in with sexual harassment. enjoy this drivel - https://www.airforcetimes.com/story/opinion/2015/03/30/letters-soluri-pope-aaf-accident-mustache-march/70663566/

It's ok, there's some higher rank Space & Cyber Officers that think we can contract out the "no kidding keyboard ninjas" as well and just do base support and be able to grow a Ops culture. I mean, contractors are good at building a sustainment life-cycle for grooming "air-mindedness" leaders right? Works for RPA's, should work for Cyber too. I mean, Snowden was just a fluke and a Cyber-O who's done base support & staff his/her whole career can just waltz into a AOC and be able to advocate for Offensive Cyber capabilities. That's what you pilots do, just stare at the unclass version of your TTP's and then get to a planning process and advocate like competent professionals. There's also the argument that as O's we shouldn't be doing any of the technical stuff and just advise the enlisted 1B4's. I imagine the frustrations the 17#'s in my year group are feeling are a little like what the AAF felt like in the beginning as well. The arguments of finding MAJCOM and Staff jobs for cyber officers as a reason to not move forward (because then who would become a General?) start to grate. We don't need 20 Cyber generals! How many EWO generals, CRO, or other small, highly technical and specialized career-field Generals are there? Build the mission with competent leaders and the culture will grow and sustain itself. Sorry.. ranting again. I think I'm just going to start a Cyber Thread and answer some questions there.

Stupid Guard and their separate network. Come to the glory of AFNET! Anyway, thanks Butters for the lolz. If you do the recovery on the trifold it will load the private key back and there's a way to put it on your card. I'll look around to see if I can find it.

There's actual evidence that trying to avoid and be protected against your "triggers" further perpetuates and reinforces their impact on your life. Turns out acknowledging it and learning how to deal is better. Who knew being a pussy, further perpetuated pussy behavior.

What happened to the JQP Toxic Leadership Posts?

He's really equating the rape from "The Accused" to his ordeal with the Border Patrol. Wow. -

Well.. a federal panel of judges have said it. Perhaps he'll take notice? -

This is probably a given, but Jupiter Ascending is.. bad. This review pretty much says it's the new Battlefield Earth, and is otherwise a good listen/watch -

Was going to say the same about Cyber. Sure, there's the cookie cutter path. But 1 of 4 CC's I've had has done that. The rest were's RAS's, led an engagement team in Afghanistan and the other was just wierd. Also, we've got a lot of 2 time CC's for some reason. I find it interesting the people railing against the exec/school path are those that lack perspective.. the same thing the exec/school path is supposed to teach. Had a Marine O6 that I worked for and we talked briefly about selection. He was infantry, but said he could have easily been selected for Supply. He said, "You can't just have all your shit-hot Officers in Infantry. We need good ones in all the jobs or the whole thing breaks. I got lucky, that's all."

I'll often hear him muttering, "Diet strawberry kiwi shasta. Who drinks that shit in Germany."

Thoughts on the Air Force's Electronic Warfare Sustainability

Ask Butters -
My current group Deputy was on his protocol team. He's like an old War vet and refuses to talk about it.

Probably going to get burned for this but... All the senior officers that I've talked to about their exec time, usually me mockingly, have valued it highly in learning about the way things are at a higher level. It built perspective and a greater understanding for them when going forth. If you don't want to be an exec, I get it. I don't. But, and granted this depends on the O's you're exec'ing for, the time spent with a senior leader can be a very good teaching/learning opportunity. I got to spend some time with USAFE/CC and his exec and/or aide de camp on trips. He would often ask them for their opinions on topics and ways ahead. They talked a lot. That's another way to think about it as well. Some senior O6 on up w/ a hopefully fresh from the line Capt filling him in on what life's like in the Sq's. If it's a good senior O then that's a two way street of information and experience and can be invaluable.

Electronic flight bags could boost operational safety, effectiveness

So, Called around to OGV to see what they've done with the A3 or 6. Nothing - that's fine. The AO for this tells me it's not for EFB's but to get the crews used to using tablets for mission planning and that sort of thing. Ok.. strange. Apparently L3 won't "authorize" iPads for EFB's in our airframes and is in the process of building their own software for the Surfaces/Slates/whatever using Windows. Thanks all for your help. Learned a lot about this whole thing, hopefully well get something for the bros besides the 68.9 lb bags soon. -

Thanks all. OGV is our POC for local, but I'm trying to close the paper work loop before hand slapping starts. Got a lot of good POCs and info to churn through. I'll let you all know how it goes. -

Thanks. I'll engage w/ the aircrew that bought them and see if we can find some compatible apps. I try and train my Lt's the same. Only time we pull back is when people assume we're just going to lie down and do whatever they want. Still got a network to protect and bosses overlords. -
The just authorized "magic sand." Still surprised at that change.
