Yep. It's basically a list of every skill with identifiers of knowledge level that every person in the AFSC should. For example task: send email - id'd as a core task(so required for qualification)/optional - requires initial(familiarization)/journeyman(performance)/craftsman(trainer) level knowledge - signed off by a higher level than the trainee accomplishing it This is.. amazing. I'm not sure how they're going to accomplish this in the local Comm Sq. We get CC's in that never hit a NOSC/Crew CC/Cyber Ops position and will not be signed off on tasks that could be required. I suppose they'll grandfather people in.. though that makes no sense from a training standpoint. They could just make it so local comm support requirements are very little and once you get to a Cyber Ops area you've got to back train on tons of items. Which will be fun trying to train up as an O4 DO with a Lt/Capt signing you off on stuff. Oh.. and the Ops positions also have their own training requirements separate from this. Well Cyber AFSC is splitting again, but they dropped a CFETP for us now. Figure that one out. We're also being directed to start getting certifications though funding and planning for that will be accomplished "in the future." Do you Ops guys have CFETPs or do you track your training a different way.

Hasn't MX moved into and out of OPS in the past decade? Seems like every 7 years they move.

Thanks gents, didn't know if I could just call and see about a static. I'm trying to get it rolled into FTAC here so all the Amn can roll through once they get to the base, not just my nerds. Don't know what a DOC statement is. From your last sentence I'd say we don't have one. That would be very difficult for us to develop and we have so many other controlling agencies (DISA, CyberCOM, 24th AF, shudder AFSPC) our mission focus is very difficult to maintain sometimes. I'll ask around though.

Negative. It's a culture we've allowed to build up over time in all communities. I can't tell you how many Comm guys I get to re-educate about how the aircraft flying is more important than patching their systems, or doing some nerd work. Look at the ESD, you think anyone educated about providing air power had a hand in deciding to roll-out.. and then kill that atrocity? But.. you think only support guys were involved in that decision? No, it's a failure of Support and the Rated officers who run stuff in the Air Force. I imagine some of the same problems persist with our MX brethren as well. Cyber can't get anyone but Space Generals running. Good thing they know what the local Comm Sq. is going through. I'm very thankful for this board because it's helped me realize the Ops side of the house. The Amn in my Flight don't even know the aircraft at my base. I'm trying to think of ways to fix that.

Between the two firings, that are now extremely public, how is the CSAF going to have the audacity to say there's no ethical problem within the ranks? These are being discussed in my own little part of the Comm world. This is a real discussion point for use lowly CGOs. Chist.. now I have to document, document, document when I want to fire someone. And do it when I'm a CC just to make sure if I'm relieved of command for no reason I can start a Congressional that'll go nowhere. X course is no longer offered. It was used as a bridge course to get us from 33S to 17D. There was a classified portion. Are you looking for Cyber 200 or 300? I can shoot you a PM if necessary.

Best part about the whole thing is the kid is staying with his new wife. So we're going to rip that kid from there and put her into the arms of someone deemed unfit a few years ago. Are your IAO's DoD 8570 certified? Actually the majority of "automated" tasks are the IAO functions. As much as I realize it's important to "get it done" having every org on base with 2+ individuals with admin rights is a management and security nightmare. But, it might go back to that if they keep hammering the Comm Sq personnel as "not vital." Many admin tasks will be returning to the Comm Sq so, hopefully you'll see faster service once it's complete.

I'll post the email about the ESD going away and what AFSPC A6 had "planned" to do for the bases to get support once that happened. And by planned I mean, "Hey, we're taking this away in 2 months. Your base will take all support calls that we haven't automated (<10%). They will not get the bodies we took from them to man the ESD. Thanks for your time." ACC was pissed. O6's and GO's who've done Comm all their lives just thought they'd turn off the switch and Ops would be fine with it. Then AFSPC just signed off 'cause... you know, they care about operations. These are our "leaders" and have AAD's, PME and are hand selected. They are talking about splitting the AFSC AGAIN with 17DS or some other shite for the actual Ops folks. I am not one of those, (un)luck of the draw. Now I'm too old. Ain't that a bitch. The only thing I want to do in the AF is grow this Ops mission and the Amn to run it. Sadly.. I don't think it's going to happen. Got a few buds who are Ops and a few people who could barely understand how a router works who are Ops. I don't know how the A3 side decides who's got the hands for a fighter and how doesn't but send someone down to Kessler so we keep the drool off the keyboards. Please note that the Cyber MAJCOM was murdered by Skeletor in his infinite wisdom to recover the nuke problems. So, as I've said before - AFSPC destroyed the nuke enterprise so AF gives them the fastest growing, most technologically/adversarial challenging, and stupidly expensive domain as a trade in the 24th AF. Please note - it's stupidly expensive because they don't want to pay for O&M on the regular - normalized MX/upgrade of classified network equip, why would we want that? They also don't want to grow through training/long-term acquisition, so we just pay contractors. They also have ideas they want but refuse to fund adequately. So we're buying F-35's, missing vital avionics, OBOGS, other aeronautical crap I cant' remember. For example - not every hosting site has a full real-time monitoring system. Think about that. Also, 1/2 your Comm Sq will be deployed at a time under this AFNext or whatever it's called now. Surely.. Comm Guys with years of exp are running the 24th by now.
