Promotion and PRF Information
The part that I've always wondered about in this process of "grooming" is where is the feedback back to the beginning about what is desired? We've been in war for a long time, how come the process hasn't changed? In a peacetime AF the above process might work, but with dudes out the door as often as we did in the mid 00's (and currently) why wasn't this process modified to account for that? Or did it and I'm just not aware? I've gotten the same game prep from O7's to O4's and it should be different. Additionally.. how the hell does someone get kicked off the hype train outside a personal decision and/or crime? Why the hell is the path to O6 for a bro-turned-douche (mostly) bullet-proof?

Electronic flight bags could boost operational safety, effectiveness
Dudes, Attempting to help out the OG here and stop dudes having to step with the 68 lbs bag. Someone in Ops bought 16 Surface Tablets to use as EFB's. They didn't tell us they were doing this. Of course, they're wanted spun up and installed yesterday, but that ain't going to happen. We'll get it done, just going to take awhile and we're attempting to figure out how to get these things on the network for updates when not in use. As it is the tablet's not cleared for the aircraft. I can go into technical details, but.. why. If you're using them or know someone who's using them, legally preferred, please drop me a PM w/ POC. If you have MAJCOM guidance please send along, I can provide my .mil via PM. I'm also going to get with "the customer" and have them walk me through how they would use them so we can ID process problems. If you can share you pro/cons, worked/didn't work stories I'd also appreciate it. Any info I get so that I might be able to alleviate issues without me having to talk to the good-idea fairy motherfucker. Something, something.. cyber operations. 17D

A week in Germany
Dachau is worth a visit if you'll be close. Seeing where genocide was perfected is a bit much. There's some really good museums around the area as well. There really wasn't a part of Germany that wasn't nice. Those Krauts take care of their county.

Plus he's having to deal with a 2-star saying Airmen discussing the A-10 with Congress are committing treason. https://news.yahoo.com/air-force-probing-alleged-treason-184856046.html "Post is reported to have told Air Force officers attending a recent weapons and tactics conference in Nevada that it is their duty to support the service's budget priorities by refraining from offering opinions inconsistent with those priorities" I'm sure Chang's pants got tight when word of this spread.

First, apologies to Gravedigger, I asked Gen Shelton when we converted to "Ops" if we were getting bags soon. I know I wasn't the only one, but I'm sure that drove the "no bags for all" decision. Second, the patches thing is a big deal. We've got the Sq shirts now, and they're great. The Wing CC picks a unit for the Friday and rolls around base in that. Very cool. But the lack of patches and ability to be part of a group that has a distinct identity really sucks. Especially when we used to have it.

Great movie. What part was confusing? I've seen graphics that explain the whole time thing online.

Negative. I wasn't aware the WIC patch was authorized on ABU's so I asked about it. I think it's pretty cool it's authorized for ABU's, but looks very out of place being the only patch. We discussed and both lamented the lack of patches authorized for ABU's. I think if we allowed Sq's to have patches again, that would improve the connection people felt with each other, the uniform and the AF. We did it in BDU's... And Sq caps need to make a come back.

What's wrong with the Air Force?
Note - interactions mentioned before were face-to-face. I subscribe to the arguing on the internet w/ retards rule.

Wing CC here does both. Wish I could say I was the bigger man and it wouldn't matter if he did or didn't. But it does. He wears them with his WIC patch, which caused a nice conversation between us. I'm a grown-ass man, and in some little part it bugs. Imagine all the young Amn and the perception. Sure.. we're here because some of us Airmen wear bags. But the vast majority don't. Where I'm at it's not even the front-end of the jet that the mission really depends on, it's the full back end - most of whom wear ABU's when not flying. So.. it shouldn't matter. But when you get to that position of authority and trust with your Airmen and lead the whole base, it does.

What's wrong with the Air Force?
It's amazing how much of this crap goes on today in the financially constrained/deployment heavy environment we're in. Some old-POS SNCO/FGO thinks the AF is babying the Amn/NCOs/CGOs these days and need toughing up. All my Amn are working harder, longer hours, with less support and funds than ever before. But somehow we're soft and don't know how hard it was back in the day, so additional training's got to take place. On top of the resiliency/CAF/Safety/etc days. Some idiot thinks additional support should be offered because it's a "nice to have" or throws us under the bus because we "won't" support an additional 5K customers without additional manning. God, I wish I was making that last one up. As a prior-enlisted, and old looking, officer I get rolled into this soft crowd, that doesn't understand how "hard" it was in the late 90's thru '07. It usually doesn't go well for that individual.

Depends on the sub-reddit. Some are blocked, some aren't. Not controlled by your local CS. Again, it's not blocked at your CS. I haven't tried to login in awhile, so I forget at what level they're blocking it (regional, AF, DISA). I'm guessing regional, but if anyone on the west coast is having issues, please speak up and that'll indicate higher. I'm glad we're talking about this rather than having to listen to the gray-hairs complain about youtube and facebook while they spend all day on espn updating their fantasy-sport game that's totally cooler and more real than video games or D&D.- Bloody 'ell... is this place dead!?
