Ah yes.. this dude. Somehow it fails to mention the head-slamming victim was female.

It's funny till it happens to you. Who's excited for the Virtual ESD??!?!?!?!

This was also my preferred method. Parallels just didn't work well for me when trying to do AF/Windows stuff. You can attempt to do it free with WINE (https://wiki.winehq.org/MacOSX) if you feel like spending more time trying to get it to work. Note - I couldn't.

It seemed to start working until about three days ago, but now I'm not getting updates to "View New Content" again. I'll get one or 2 threads, but nothing I've commented in before.

I've got a galaxy tab 2. It's a nice little toy, but that's about it. I hate reading on it for extended periods of time and it's just a bit to heavy/sized to hold like a book. I thought I was going to use it for class, but I can't look up references and write on it at the same time. If you get one of the newer ones you can split the screen.. but that's it. There's no windows to move and all that. I play games on it, and use it for church lessons. My kindle paperwhite gets a lot of usage though. That thing rules for reading.

I run windows, mac and linux at home. You know.. because. Win7 is a great OS. It's everything Vista should have been. Win8 is awful, don't get it. Though, if it's on a laptop with a multi-touch pad your experience should be better. I'm rocking a 08 Macbook Pro still and as much as I want to get away from the brand, the build quality and care is unparalleled. I can't tell you have many times it's been dropped and not had an issue. AppleCare is a must, so factor that into the price. IF you want to do work at home get something with Windows. There are sometimes formatting issues between the different versions of Office. Rare, but highly annoying. Last I read getting the CAC reader to work with OSX was still a dirty hack. Also, someone else mentioned max out your ram. Yes.. do this. Also, here's a link to loading a SSD into your system for faster HD access - https://eshop.macsales.com/installvideos/macbookpro_15_unibody_hd_h/ Don't get a tablet for anything official. I'm a nerd and I've tried to work it into official use, and it just doesn't work. Takes too long to write stuff, hard to balance and use a keyboard with, etc.

I've looked at my Cyber SURF. No offense taken! However, the best Cyber person I've met was a geology major. I just met a kick ass cyber O5, his degree? Resort Management. Cyber isn't some place just for the programmers or STEM folks. It's an attitude and disposition to learning that will show who a true nerd is. The kids who take things apart, spend hours researching small things about a system. The guys who argue about protocol implementations. Those are the qualities we need in the key mashers, and something the AF should be testing for, just like they do for pilot aptitude. It shouldn't be limited to a particular degree. But then.. which AFSC? They're now doing 2 AFSC's - 17D and 17S. I guess I'm a support bro now, that's fine. I put metal in the air. But we have the exact same training program, and I can get assigned to the NOSC... same as the 17S bros. That CFETP thing I was talking about? Clearly slanted towards the 17S's, but I get lumped in as well. Of course there's already douche 17DA's out there. That didn't take long. Good news! The AF is now paying for E8/9's to get their certifications. Nothing for us operational leaders yet, m'fers. I am currently a scrum master. I'd have to look again, but I believe we've got a very large bathtub moving up after the RIFs. Also, a ton of Cyber O6's just punched because they're tired of the nonsense. I'll get numbers so this isn't so vague tomorrow. The enlisted project management career field was just.. dissolved. They now have any 3D AFSC move into it, because project management is just something you pick up as an additional duty according to big blue. Boss is currently at a ACC Cyber CC's conference. Hope to get some good info, but we don't communicate in the career field about what's going on.

No, we just got rid of the whole career field 4 years ago. RIF'd a ton of cyber officers and then offered all the positions to civilians for "continuity" and have a GO for oversight.. who leaves after a couple years. There are professional organizations with legitimate certifications for Proj. Mgmt with emphasis on IT. Their certs are well respected and not easy to earn. Are these part of the hiring requirements? My (legit) masters is in this exact thing. Do you think it's even tracked somewhere to move me to that? Even if it was, all the Trident U grads show about the same thing.

Cyber and Intel have WIC now. I think Intel's been around for awhile now. Space has a WIC.. need I say more?

Can confirm.

It finally feels like we're not reaching to define what the AF is in our advertisement. Our heritage, while short, is well represented. I can't imagine the challenges the CSAF faces daily, and he's hammered pretty hard on JQP regularly. But I don't think we've had as good a communicator for what being an Airman is in a very long time. I'm thankful that I get to see what he's attempting to do while still in the service and hopefully help.

So... it's titled Navy Bullshit, but.. am I wrong thinking this is the sort of thing I'd want a Chief doing? Cause.. that's exactly what I'd want a Chief doing.

Someone posted in here (probably the "what's wrong" thread) about how stupid it was that we're still using PINs. It was one of those things we'd always done, so I didn't think about it till pointed out and I agreed. I think that's a wake up call we all need from time to time. So I asked around and proposed it to the Comm Sq. CC and he/she agreed. So we got started removing it. I don't know if the CC had to justify it to higher, but I used Wing Safety as the example. If they have to call now, they're not going to fuss with a PIN. The purpose was to stop people from making calls home and all that. But when everyone has a cell with a number from home, or wherever, what's the point? 90% of my calls are long distance when I'm calling a tech on the job or my superintendent. Now.. we haven't advertised this to the base. My expectation is to have it spread word of mouth rather than people just "testing" the system, hammering my switch, and increasing my costs for no reason. Also, there's a few technical issues my guys have overcome with hard work that I'm extremely proud of and a few more remain. International calls (non-DSN) still require a PIN, but I think that's ok. Concerning Certs - I've gotten no official answer, but it's a security setting in the browser that the NOSC seems to require a certain way. Some say they're doing it to spoof the connection so you can't encrypt the communication. Possibly. Proxy might be negotiating the connection and then renegotiating with your broswer, classic man-in-the-middle which would throw that warning. I think that's stupid and way too much work for all the https that goes on. Simple explanation: they only load certs they trust (gov) and pulled trust for all commercial ones. Concerning tabs - No idea. I'm just happy the new portal doesn't look like the aforementioned geocities or myspace sites. But, if you middle click the link (or command-click on mac) it'll open in a new tab. Usually. If there's any GO's on - Can we get a Career cyber guy in-charge of AFCYBER already? https://www.24af.af.mil/library/biographies/ How much longer are you guys going to make it apparent 24th AF is the stepping stone for rank in the space community? Couldn't even swing a cyber chief? There's a pilot CV for Neo's sake. Imagine if that shit happened to a CAF NAF and how you'd explain to the slighted AFSC that they're still important and Ops.

We're not zipper suited sun gods. Our only movable name tags are on blues.

Got this from a buddy @ Sheppard AFB today - "So, while doing my orders in DTS for this course at Shepard, I found that they now only allow you to travel the day before class if overseas. They used to allow two days of travel so that one could adjust to the jet lag somewhat. When inquiring as to the reasoning behind such a massive FU, I was told that "AETC is in a financial crunch, and has to make cuts on travel orders". Yesterday I found out why. Whilst walking into the building in my beloved Blues, I found a civilian standing at the door with a clipboard. Looking around, I found a civilian at EVERY door with a clipboard. Turns out, they've hired something like 40 civilians to stand outside of every building each Monday and take down the names of anyone not in Blues. This report then goes to the General... Stellar job AETC, stellar job."

All part of that Obama plan to make America's foreign policy a joke around the world. Also.. good to see his face is still melting.
