  1. What is this magical time of which you speak?
  2. I went through commissioning and the spouse and a few others went through training with him. I'm painfully aware of his.. quirks. Wasn't aware of a civil suit, I just thought the timing was bad, and if anything was going to come of it/your guys thoughts. He's the last person we need as the face of AF sexual assault.
  3. So this happened and appears to be getting a lil traction - https://www.guardian....ntenced-assault
  4. Thanks gents, it has been a hassle for a kid who just can't say his R/W's. They said I shouldn't take him for summer visits since there was a backlog for the speech therapist.. Found a great home day care person who worked with him awesome.
  5. Anyone know how to get of the EFMP? Ex-wife had the boy diagnosed and TriCare docs I've talked to since have said negative, just a speech delay. I've spoken to the reps at a couple locations and they all said it was "impossible".
  6. Don't worry guys, ECSS will fix all this. Kinda falls under another acquisitions issues. Feel sorry for that dude. That's cool, we've only been doing this for a few months so it makes sense no process is in place...
  7. Checklist creation.
  8. I wanted to disagree with you at first, but solely for the sake of the 17DA folks. However, I don't know what they do, so I can't speak to their time requirements. I know their initial school is more intense and then they disappear into the ether. The few that I've met go TDY a lot. They also talked about getting out since they didn't want to do a "normal" comm job. I know getting a TUI/Toro degree would be what most of my peers are going on now. I've enrolled in an upper ranked Info Assurance program at a local brick and mortar, but could be getting screwed out of my 4th year at my assignment and may have to transfer a year+ worth of work to a diploma mill. I'll never be CSAF, nor will gravedigger, nor my finance buddy who med DQ'd from UPT. I don't know why we promote together. Has it always been this way? At the same rank we're generally doing different jobs, with different leadership expectations. I can't tell at what level we become parallel in rank/responsibility senior O4? O5?
  9. Is there some kind of exit survey that you do to support these assumptions? EDIT - would like to add it needs to be better than the climate survey where you lump everything from slightly agree to kool-air drinking cookie monster together.
  10. I just want to be sure, you're saying the AF and the Marines are the same in the areas of discipline? And that enlisted Marines are treated less harshly than officers? Check the link I posted to the Gen. Fiscus affairs and see if that is similar to the Corps' manner of handling things. ---- Few months old, but came across this today, makes you wonder about current leadership. https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/sex-dawn/201211/not-all-military-adultery-results-in-scandal
  11. Good point gents, thanks for the clarity. As she was going through her training I kept telling her how I was jealous that she was going to be in an Ops Sq, camaraderie, mission-focus and all that. Being career-MSG I was excited to see how the other half lived. I think the double disappointment of our actual experiences weighs heavily. Said individual and Q3 reason (checklist in hand) is true. It being retaliation for calling something out was a scenario I was attempting to liken to Joe1234's statements. Apologies that wasn't clearer. Point is - she's constantly worried about how her reaction to these "non-bro's" is going to effect her professionally (and not rank climbing wise). Thank you all for the clarity on a lot of the points here.
  12. Just wondering, How is calling a squadron mate a bitch for asking you to not tell a graphic story of a one-night-stand blowjob in front of her going to make you keep that warrior edge? Or then Bro tells that story of being asked to stop to the ADO who Q3'd said female for not having a checklist in hand, CC said he wouldn't have done it, but didn't change anything. This ADO also determines the deployment assignments. The same guy who said females who deployed together previously can't deploy together anymore since they need experience on different crews. However, Bros get to go with their buds whenever they'd like. If I didn't hear it and see it first hand I'd call BS on that story above. Unfortunately I can't. There is some stupid BS that came out of that Great AF Porno hunt (family pics, books), but at least where I'm at and the wife works, there's a problem. I find it hard to believe it's relegated to our little piece of the AF. Wrapping these traditions in the "warrior ethos" is not examining them critically (as SOS in-corr/ERAU would have you do) to see what value, if any, they provide. Nope. I DD when I can, and enjoy the camaraderie when a few coworkers get a little tanked. I don't have a Sq bar, but if I did I would be there on occasion.
  13. This very much, and it pains me to say that. Neither my wife or myself imbibe. My wife is also very conservative, religious, and a hard worker (strat'd 2/19). She loves flying, being an Airman, and being an Officer. She is very disturbed with how... accepted many of these things are in a professional environment. This includes offices during duty hours, and the Sq bar on (mandatory) Friday calls and other times. Very often she'll come home and complain about this. That dudes are saying very sexist stuff at work, but if she says anything that she'll be labeled and ostracized even more than she is simply as a woman in a flight suit. Some things she can't let pass (out right disrespect/name calling of women) and worries how this will effect the next assignments of deployments, etc. Naming ceremonies are a particular hate of hers. Apparently in her Sq all names are derived from some sexual scenario/failing. I don't know how vital these traditions are to your culture, I'm not in it. I don't get to communicate with pilots/aircrew as much as I'd like, but the few times I've head the head/box thing come up it's frustrating more than offensive. It's more "Really? we stopped doing this in middle school" vs. "OMG so offensive!" I joined this board because I realized that I'm missing out on a very important part of what the AF does and I needed to hear it from the folks that do it. Thanks for that. I agree with you guys for a lot of the things you've lost had stolen (tabs/Friday shirts), but this one I live with first order negative effects of it and I can't agree with. When there's only 3~4 women in your whole Sq you might not be getting the honest feedback you think you're getting.
  14. https://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A64246-2005Jan10.html See - Maj. Gen. Thomas J. Fiscus I remember when this guy got "the boot" reduced from Maj Gen to Col for retirement. His lawyer defended the Art 15 only punishment it to the masses as, "look how much cash he's losing for the rest of his life." Meanwhile we had quite a few E's folks getting popped for lesser/shorter infractions and getting jail time/separated. Some of the "older" guys still bring it up.
  15. Are you stuck in the "Man Box"?
  16. PT Testing.
  17. Scooby-Doo Villian?
  18. I thought not getting SrA BTZ was due to not having tits.
  19. Have you done the new one? It's kind of my career field and still took me that long. EDIT - Only due to the fact there is no fast forward, questions are ambiguous, and on certain "levels" you have to get 100% and earn that (XBox-like) achievement.
  20. Got a nice 20-hr day out of it last week. 12hr mid-shift into late-morning brief. Back into 12hr mid-shift. No CBT's though. Also.. the brief was quick, with only 1 ass deciding to prolong the pain with unnecessary clarification. Also it didn't tell me I was a rapist, or that men were, or ask if there was every an ok time to call a woman a bitch.
  21. Last class I grouped with mostly American students instead of a bunch of internationals (Chinese, Indian, Korean, etc). This was in an attempt to dodge some of the language problems I'd had last class a 20+ page report was due. Last time I'll ever do that. About the same attitude minus looking cute, inability to plan course work over a 4-month semester, etc. The foreign kids (minus the Saudi's) work hard and plan better. Just signed up for SOS via correspondence. Not sure if that makes me part of the problem according to some on here. Boss says do it, peers who aren't dweebs say do it, so I'll moo-cow and follow the herd. But the process to enroll is... only something a military person contracting out work via a civilian could come up with. EDIT - Wonder if the SNCO's bitch about their correspondence PME (course-14?) as much as some on here. Last I remember, you WILL NOT get promoted if you don't do that correspondence. These days not having a CCAF is also a barrier to entry to the top 3%/1%. Please note this is about bitching in comparison only; I've been out of Big Blue and in a Joint environment for years now. My data may be old.
  22. Would like to add this little bit to the Chief's video as well - Source
  23. Started with TUI and then transferred to a real school around my base with a "real" program. A top 15% program in their field if you believe the (legit) literature. I actually realized well into my first semester at "real school" that the papers and required reading (which I did) at TUI added to my professional knowledge and blah, blah, blah. I was reasonably more prepared than my peers for the entry level courses, and in a few instances the TUI classes were ahead the "real" school. Plus no group work. @Mark1 - Thanks for your service. Can you send me instructions on how you got yourself up on that cross solo?
  24. How about we just go back to fatigues and you'll get issued whatever you need when you deploy...
  25. What? The heads that rolled, and pain that continues on that... and.. you can't be serious.
