  1. Statistics was my favorite class in High School. Paid of so much in life, I think it should be required for all students.
  2. Fun fact - There's great chef's everywhere. San Antonio had some AMAZING food. So does Houston. My 0 point PT waist is evidence of this fact.
  3. We did just have an armed mob try and storm the capital to capture the Legislature. So yes, I'd say one more step towards a hell, however we can pull back. That's the great thing about our country.
  4. Yea, that's why I made that comment about "merit based systems" in the other thread. People get ahead for all kinds of reasons, easy to deal with, extra smart, favors...not strictly merit based. Got a guy who's early to command I used to work with who was a complete douchebag who produced nothing but more meetings. Col Shitbird loved him though.
  5. Yep, in 21 years I yelled twice. Once as a SSgt, once as a Maj. The Maj one was fun though.
  6. Yep, got covid fat, have family history of issues, been denied life insurance. Each time someone comes to the house and they want medical history.
  7. This so much. Closing the door and screaming loud enough that those outside can hear (justified, of course) is a wonderful corrective tool. Especially if that's not your normal mode, and no effective leader I've ever met was that way.
  8. I'm pretty sure I heard this before - "Don't worry about what he says, he'll build a good team around him and get things done."
  9. Yes, none of which they mentioned, then the CEO denied they had those issues that night. Why did all the other (Ameritrade, Schwab, etc.) halt buys as well. They ALL were having liquidity issues getting required margin to their clearing houses? Yes, you can have shorted shares > float pretty easily when you're just playing with margin and other people's money. Oh yea, and regulation is so lax to allow it among the Good 'Ole Boys. I'm generally pretty chill. But after 2008 I have an extremely hard time dealing with rage that I get thinking about these bankers and billionaires. For them to get away with no jail time, lying about their credit ratings then wrap themselves in the 1st Amendment, blame the people for buying houses they couldn't afford when there were predatory lending programs they set up. Fines of millions on billions of dollars of profit. And we still have hedge funds that double as market makers, and market makers that heavily invest into multiple hedge funds.
  10. It's a short squeeze, it is fundamental. Happened in 2008 to VW as well. Will GME be worth 326 (current price) in a month, almost certainly not. But it's not going to be $4 either. The fact it was shorted 140% is ridiculous, and when you get the chance to beat someone betting hard with a bad hand...I guess if they're a billionaire we're just supposed to walk away. Fuck that.
  11. Bought some GME @ $17, sold for a tiddy $1K gain at around $40. Bought some more @ $128 avg...still holding. This could tank, and I'm still up retardedly for the year. I am hoping I can get it up (STS) enough to cover a good chunk of a new deck I need. For real...we can't walk on it, it's a hazard. I watched some of AOC's stream last night, didn't seem like a horrible human being. Seemed like an American I don't always agree with. Get that "horrible human" shit out of here and into the Pres thread. She had interesting guests on I also didn't agree with but provided very interesting perspective. Funnily enough she spoke about this for a good clip. That said it's been a wild ride seeing the clear manipulation in the market: timed equal volume sells to drive down price, the short-ladders, and finally locking out buyers on cash accounts (me). How we don't have regulations against market makers also being/directly backing hedge funds is insane to me. Same as we used to have on banks...until we got rid of them then...boom...2008. Edit - here's the video of the dude that started it all:
  12. Not that he hasn't done some of his own, but are you counting un-doing Trumps? Should those count?
  13. 💎✊
  14. So...Gamestop's been a fun ride.
  15. Shapiro was very hard on Trump's lies about the election from the start. There's pretty good video where he's arguing with his crew about how they're wrong for supporting the former pres saying he won that night. He's done that all along, and pointed out how awful the lawsuits are. Yes, 99% of the time he's going to have those talking points because those are his talking points. But he's on the same line every time, and doesn't shift much when some darling conservative comes in and "does bad, to do good." He annoys me often, but I respect him on that front. Tucker Carlson on the other hand is none of those things. Has he released his copy of the Biden laptop yet that he got? He fans the flames on rhetoric, with the same bad faith arguments and selective reading of the facts same as Hannity. He's willing to align himself to whatever gets him views and popular, unlike Shapiro. Him playing himself as "a man of the people" with his sliver spoon upbringing and Ivy League education is just the topper. The fact that a court of law, and Fox News argued, that you can't take anything he says as a "statement of fact" means the show isn't worth anyone's time.
  16. There's all kinds of magic bullshit you can do with billets. However, it really depends on what he's doing with the unit, and what the unit needs. If he's low in your grade/exp he is not at an advantage doing it because you won't be off the books until you've got that blue ID card. Which is an eternity in Sq time. You're a year out...ftg (Fucks To Give) should be ≤ 0. If you're coming in/leaving on time and not "out-processing" you're doing it wrong. FYI - out-processing includes calling to get your old medical records from cold storage because they will not have them on base. If you're worried about a dec, that's a personal choice, but you've got the guns to back up getting a MSM...that's it. It's damn near guaranteed. I retired in Aug '20. I work as a contractor on base. No one gives a shit about my last job, dec or rank. It's fantastic, but a def mindset change. Start NOW with getting your cranium right for a very different world. I might have been a little different since I enlisted at 18, but it's...totally different, and so much better than I could have imagined.
  17. Let me know when we find meritocracy. Everything I've seen while in, and my brief time out, is who you know.
  18. Mine was flight medicine some special out-processing office, but COVID was starting so YMMV. I was at Lackland though, so it might be diff for you. It took like...5 min. They didn't really do anything but sign some papers and ask if I had any issues. I didn't notice any physical/mental differences when we went through it, however when I got my VA disability doctor review... It was contracted out by the VA, to some really old doc. He was super chill and reiterated, go until it's uncomfortable. Looking back, it was the first time in 21 years where I was honest with myself about how I felt physically...I left there in pain. I didn't have to suck it up for a PT test, to set the example for Amn or anything. My body just went, yea...all this stuff is fucked that you've been ignoring it. A testament to how strong our minds can be.
  19. I was construing it's got a problem with a large amount of toxic people, militias fomenting insurrection and neo-nazis. But social media misfits are ok. And we're not fucking, so I'll spell whatever I want however I want.
  20. What? I was talking about the comparison to AETC and it not being a healthy group of people. If you'd like to go on Parlor, well now you can't. But there's a few sites grabbing responses to "leaders" (ex. Sidney Powell, Flynn) on there and you should look at those responses.
  21. They warned the president multiple times, and provided an explanation after the banning for Twitter. Does this not meet your requirement?
  22. Huh, was different in another article I read. Note to all here: make sure your side piece can keep her mouth shut - Surprised she didn't put it on facebook at that rate.
  23. I know it has been said on here repeatedly, but I've already seen the differences in person. Get a vets org to help you do the paperwork. You will not be able to do it better than them. I went with DAV in the San Antonio area and the dude helped find things that I: 1) forgot about, 2) didn't think needed to be listed (ex. allergies).
  24. I'd rather the federal gov't have this power, that is buffeted by elections and the judicial branch, than unanswerable corporations whose only motivation is profit.
  25. This is perfect.
