I certainly hope not; but, you probably had a home inspector look over it for insurance purposes (or your landlord did). Don't make this look like I like DTS...I don't. Bendy Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

I believe he means the AF, not the airline. That number is kind of built into the Air Force's system. We spend so much money on the Air Force already; you suggest spending more in pensions to get a few more years out of each. The alternative is to spend money to make spending 20 an attractive option. 5 years of pension for every single pilot..every single pilot each year, back into making you want to do this...my only question is what makes you want to do this. I'm clear on what makes you push the button...365s, non-flying staff, CBT/self-support, undermanning/overworking, etc. But, even if we fixed that. What makes you want to stay and how do those things need to improve? It's the easy bitch to ask certain things to stop. How about the things you want...that make you want to be in the Air Force. We've mistreated those too...now what? Bendy Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

Google says vetted means "to make a careful and critical examination of (something)." Nothing about what standards or methods are applied. I agree with you; we all know what's going on here. Everything is so abused at this point that things just need to get scrapped and established anew. Tough call when you've sunk as much money into something like we have DTS. Sadly, basically impossible with the greedy claws that are sunk into it. All just very sad, Bendy Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

Who are you? I must see this PRF...a black swan? More like the rainbow shitting unicorn. I want to see that...a lot. I'm as curious as I can possibly get about this sort of thing...which is less than my interest in the...proper use of the ellipsis. But seriously, if you're on here...do share, Bendy Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

Sounds reasonable to me, Eric. I agree with you again, Eric. Although, I don't understand why you need to tell people this...I feel like some people have been going outside of the law and doing some very shady and unauthorized shit to make other people's lives miserable for basically no reason. ----Break, break... How is this communication not a positive thing, despite its shoe clerkiness. Use the system that's provided if you expect a vetted place to stay. If you choose not too, you are accepting risk. When it burns down and you get charred to a crispy crinkle, are you expecting them to pay out to your family even though you stayed in a place they consider non-conventional and not verified safe? Sometimes we bitch hard about a system that covers hundreds of thousands of people based on individual inconvenience. How should the system work? Stay where ever you want...get mugged, kidnapped, robbed, stabbed, shot, or raped and no big deal...we got you covered, just get that claim submitted and we'll pay out whatever. How is it supposed to work if it's not literally: there is a system to help you do it, you should use it, if you don't we'll still pay reasonably, you're taking some risks, they might have consequences...CC's, I expect you to deal with discrepancies appropriately. Finance A1C dip shlt acting on orders from NCO TSGt numb nuts...denying reimbursement up to the allowable rate at any time due to some perceived infraction rather than handing that perception over to the individual's CC (which should quickly be appropriately "filed") is where there is any issue. We need to simply start removing people, if lynching still isn't allowed. I'd be happy to see more emails like this...let the SQ/CC handle it, or more appropriately not...because they should be busy with real shit...like people getting told they got paid twice and having. Money taken from them when that is in fact complete bull shlt. I don't get the fuss, unless it's to bitch for the sake of bitching, in which case...carry on, Bendy Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

Sometimes I feel like you guys are okay without the Wing having a Christmas party. Are you also okay without the LGBT fun run, or the African-Asian-Pacific Islander-Martian heritage events? I don't know...I wouldn't lose any sleep if any of those things didn't happen, but if people like those things...if it impacts their morale, and they want to plan those things...I have little issue with that. (And yes I know this was from a previous post and not the one that was quoted, so don't get sand up in the vaj; you seem like you need to be told that.). When someone turns down additional responsibility to remain flying the line...no big deal, man. Right on...we should promote you based on you experience and also your instructional abilities. But when all you do is fly the line and you fly 3-5 times a week...even if I try, I can keep my eyebrow from going all fvcking Vulcan. Damn near gives me the Whittaker eye... How long does it take to work on your airline apps? Damn...for the Lts out there, sure does pay to keep that logbook up to date from the start! Bendy Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

At what point exactly did it turn from "going off to war" to "an alternate duty location"? Seems like the root cause to me... Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

At the minimum definition of "thousands", that is literally a full-time position for an entire fiscal year...doing nothing but studying the C-17 ratio. For my trick next year, I will study a different, single topic and fvck that up too. Bendy Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

What should the Air Force be if it is so broken now?
Bender replied to Clark Griswold's topic in General Discussion
"John Coffee" is no ones standard...other than your mom. The complaint was due to unnecessary escalation. When it's larger than expected...start slow, they'll warm up to the destruction... If that had gone in the right bags, he'd still be there..it didn't and ended up on the shirt's desk. To call the written note laid under a dildo a "complaint" is being slightly misused...the aftermath that ensued is pure "what's wrong with the air farce". So for funnies...are you the guy that put the dildo in the bag or the Hawaiian guy that every loves so much? Only two MC-12 bubbas that would write "brah" instead of just saying it... My bet is on the Hawaiian. In which case...slow the roll man, really...geesh. If you're the other one, hey buddy! Bendy Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums -

It's fairly clear, if you want to be perpetually at war...drafting/conscription is necessary. If you just want to shit up and stop, a volunteer force more than happy to comply (knowing casualty is possible). I love taking care of the "kids". They are far from it. I don't want to deploy. I don't want to be away from my kids. When I am, I'm going with someone else's kids...as an FGO. There is plenty of reason for to be here...plenty beyond money. I like money. I want money. The airlines are offering lots of money. I'm staying here for now. I want to motivate, lead, and win. I don't care that you're better, but are leaving...haha , "thanks for your service." If you aren't running for public office once you leave, I think you should shut your face. At a minimum you should be conspiring to lobby congress...MOAA or whatever...too much talk, no action...just as bad as the bottom of barrel. I agree there is a hideous problem here...if you want to bail out of it...don't blame you. Don't just talk, do something to pressure change. If we stay "at war" we won't change anything...we're just a dude trapped in the car before it's completely filled with water...just sucks it has to fill before we can get out. I hope the cost of having to wait for it isn't too large. Bendy Sent from my iPad using Baseops Network Forums

Probably has something to do with why you can't lead your kids. Bendy Sent from my iPad using Baseops Network Forums

JCIDS still should apply to a QRC, right? I've never read the law on it, but rushing too fast has to have plenty of examples at this point. C-27, C-17 SADL, MC-12W...some more successful than others, but just because you're cleared not to talk to anyone, doesn't mean it's a good idea to literally talk to ing no one! I can end up in the stack without comm to the JTAC? Hmm... I haven't read any of it, I'm just still so swimming in sadness after 4 years in DoD acquisition. We're broken. So you're saying there's a chance? Did you get a DP? If not, this has already been decided and there is no mystery. If yes, understand all the other DPs have records just as good...how much does it even really matter. Go to school, keep up the good work, stay if you want, leave if you want...if not this year, you'll surely get your promotion next year. I've seen dudes move mountains and get 'P' 1-BPZ and dudes just plodding the standard HPO path get a 'DP' for nothing much special... The promotion system leaves a lot to be desired...despite all the very solid people that will tell you, "we get it right most of the time." You'll be fine...I humbly suggest you focus on something actually important in life. Bendy Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

Goldfein advocating FAA 1500 hour rule change???
Bender replied to 189Herk's topic in General Discussion
How much of your share of the idealized $91B budget boost would you need to see to stay and help un the lateral navigation of this situation? I'm still short on the specifics of what needs to change...myopic perhaps. I'm definitely on board with the deployed billet review/reduction. This shit has gotten out of control and needs some attention...we have objectives (as hard as that is to realize at times). We do a lot that does not further them in any measurable way. We want to focus on squadrons, great; I was asked if I was interested in going around to talk to others to see what we should do...but, seriously we're going to send people around TDY to try and figure this out? Can't we create a list of one thousand things we should do right here, free of charge, at the speed of mud (which is way faster than anything the AF can compile?) We could stop deploying constantly and trying to kill the same ing dude for six months to come back and try and kill the same dude again for another six months...that seems to me like the only thing that will help. Our leaders haven't had to do that. We have, we can, we will...but, at some point...we get to play the Cold War game too. The LTs we teach to fly now don't even seem to be looking at it...they'll punch too. At some point there has to be light at the end of the tunnel. This isn't different than anything else in life. If there is no end in sight, morale becomes an issue. You could literally have an airline job schedule (not Toro's), and still bitch, moan, and complain your way out the door if you spend 6 months at a pop away from our family every 2 years without any end in sight! There is no end to this crap in sight. Maybe if we could say "you've done your's, prepare the next set...you aren't going...unless we start taking losses, then we'll need you." I can see staying there, and preparing them even more better!! Double the size of the USAF? That would help long term, but it's far from a near term relief... The problem is the values of Airmen are not in alignment with the desires of National Policy. Break, break...Bender now has kids, so correct me if I'm ed up...why aren't we upping the 750 to the 1500, instead of lowering the 1500 to 750? Seems like comprising safety to simply level the field is just plain going full retard. That can't be what he said...I haven't replayed the tapes yet. Bendy Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums -
"The optics"...always hated that term. Not like I dislike "product" or "merchandise", as I have no real reason for those... "The optics" always only seem to be an issue when a tough decision to do the right thing seems to be at stake. In my experience, this term has gone hand in hand with risk aversion and trying to find a reason to say no...this term is handy for making up a reason out of thin air. That said...I agree with you. This situation would have gone poorly for me...very, very, very poorly. Unfvcking believable...let the Captain talk. So scared, so worried about nothing...such mindless wielding of authority. Quite disgusting. I wasn't there...I'm sure my imagination is way worse than reality...has to be, right? Bendy Sent from my iPad using Baseops Network Forums

Definitely not about medals...we say it's not about the money, but we know it helps...yet cannot begin to fix the current state for sure. Peace is, no doubt, a great pacifier...but, lets say that isn't a variable to be controlled. QoL is again and again the unquantified goto "latch onto" variable when discontent needs/wants to be quickly conveyed...the message is being missed. I see the tit and tat ("well visits", "volunteerism", etc.), but specificity is valuable. If you only deployed (even if it was regularly) to only do your job and nothing else, would that meet the intent of QoL? What is the desired standard of QoL here? Bendy

Seems awfully close to safety of flight. Going to have to confer on a GK hook with a SA root cause on this one. Bendy EDIT: A. I can't log into the app. B. Is the word "flight" being censored in this post?!? Hook'em all!

"I didn’t want to see my team of instructors leave for the Middle-East but it happened because we didn’t incentivise them to stay. Each one of these pilots cost over £4 million to train and when they left they gifted this training to a contractor to employ them overseas. It doesn’t seem a very good deal for the taxpayer or the Service." We run such a huge, increasing debt that it's not surprising "we" don't get it...but, it really is just that simple. Sad story... "Train people well enough so they can leave, treat them well enough so they don't want to.’ - Richard Branson, Virgin" I have always thought that statement was brilliant. Hope you all are having a nice weekend. (Go Mark Hunt!) Bendy
