CH, I know she's not an operator, but considering the fact that when programs are fast tracked, things tend to get screwed up (things like UAV and MC-12's are growing faster than big blue can fill the seats) is there not a need for someone with acquisitions knowledge to be downrage, see how the end product is being used, what works/what doesn't and be directly involved with acquiring software/hardware that will make said MWS more effective considering they have the knowledge of what is do-able and what is not? I agree that people need to be experts in their speciality and in a perfect world everyone would bowl in their lane their entire career and truly be the experts we need them to be, but we all know that Big Blue has been deploying people outside their lane like's its their job the past 10+ years...pulling someone from their finance and making them pull convoy security with the Army is just one example....and having said that, I still can't believe that she hasn't got tagged (STS) in some way/shape/form with any type of deployment in over 30 years. Cheers, Cap-10

Looks like she was part of the F-22 program on sevareal occassions including LEAD program monitor at the 5 sided wind tunnel....we all know how that program has turned out so far! I am sure she will have a firm grasp on the needs of the warfighter considering she has never been downrange (at least according to her lack of ribbons and no mention in her official bio).....since 1980: El Dorado Canyon, Just Cause, Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Provide Comfort, Northern Watch, Southern Watch, Restore Hope (Somalia), Deny Flight, Allied Force, OIF, OEF...just to name the big ones (STS) and other than the standard PCS medals, I see the National Defense (everyone gets one for playing) and GWOT (not GWOT-E), which again, everyone gets for playing stateside during time of confilict. Someone please explain to the guy in my squadron (not in his bucket/tempo band and married < 30 days) that got 7 days notice (non-vol) that he was leaving for 3 months of stateside TDY's prior to his 7 month MC-12 deployment or to the WSO that got non-vol'd (due to manning) to deployed again 5 months after returning from his own squadrons 6 month deployment due that people like this haven't paid their deployed dues in 30+ years....UNSAT!! I HATE THIS F@CKING PLACE!!! Cheers, Cap-10

After digging thru the VA website, I found a section titled "Flight training": If you are enrolled in any degree program that consists of flight training at a public Institution of Higher Learning you can be reimbursed up to the resident in-state cost of the training and will be eligible to receive your housing allowance and the books & supplies stipend. If you are enrolled in any degree program that consists of flight training at a private Institution of Higher Learning you can be reimbursed up to the full cost of the training or $17,500 per academic year, whichever is less. You will also be eligible to receive your housing allowance and the books & supplies stipend. If you are enrolled in any type of vocational flight training you can be reimbursed up to the full cost of training or $10,000 per academic year, whichever is less, you WILL NOT receive the housing allowance or books & supplies stipend. $10K (approx) program equals 1 academic year, so 9 months of eligibility sounds right. We've been told that if we are using the aircrew gym during the workday, then we have to be in PT uniform. Cheers, Cap-10

One, A major flaw with your logic is that in order to make it to Lt Col so you can be a squadron commander so you will be in the position to make the changes you posted about, YOU HAVE TO PLAY THE REINDEER GAMES in order to make it to O-5 in the first place! Very rarely does a post make me want to physically hurt the poster...but one part of your post did: What the hell makes you think that your five years in Intel (of which the first 1.5 years was ASBC and Intel schools, so 3.5 years of actual "experience") make you think that, and I quote "so maybe I am just more conditioned to dealing with this bullshit than any of you. I am sure I dealt with more bullshit like volunteering for squadron parties and taking on needless additional duties than anyone at a flying squadron" Well my 15 years in the USAF with 12+ flying fighters makes me qualified to say this: "GO FUCK YOURSELF" Not sure what type of flying squadrons you deal with (for all i know you could be giving daily intel briefs at a Space Base and not even have an aircraft at your location), but I have worked directly with Intel bubba's at the squadron (CONUS and deployed), Wing Level, and at the CAOC level, so I feel confident that I can talk about your duties, but not convinced that you can talk about mine. Just my $.02....take it...leave it...I don't give a shit Cheers, Cap-10

I'm confused....I know what Rainman flies, but I also know the Double Ugly had a radar (that was the WSO's job). Daddy Mac, Rainman's car analogy on page 3 hit the nail on the cranium....(well done Sir!!!) As for another data point wrt fighter guys and their fuel receipt, I normally just report whatever the fragged offload was supposed to be...3 AR's of 20K a-piece gets reported as 60K after I land. If i'm not in the middle of listening to my 3 radio's while my idiot wingman is alone and un-afraid, about to emply weapons to support a TIC while I am yo-yo'ing to the tanker, I look at my fuel total (bouncing around +/- 1K with turns and throttle movements) and add what my frag off-load should be, and that's what I want my fuel guage to show when I am "offload complete" In addition, when the F-15E is combat loaded and AAR'ing high altitude (i.e. every AAR in OEF), I normally end up with one engine in AB just to stay on the boom when we go into a turn... no way to me to account for what I've pissed out the back in AB during the last 6-9 minutes. Cheers, Cap-10

This makes me sick! As a guy who has been in safety positions at the squadron and Wing level, at home and deployed, including CoS at a Fighter Wing, this reeks of infulence from above...senior officers that "gently persuaded" the board to blame the pilot over the POS aircraft and the manufacturer. I hope the family sues all parties involved and I hope they win a metric shit-ton of money!! Cap-10

Violating the T.O. intentionally is never a good thing. Having said that, the thing that bothers me is the lack of leadership in handling the situation after the fact. IMHO, an Air Force wide FCIF is rediculous! Whatever happened to handling things at the lowest level? A former SQ/CC that I would follow to Tehran with a cold gun and BDU-33's once said "An NCO bandaid to the chin stops the bleeding better than a FW/CC tourniquet to the windpipe!"....let the SQ/CC's actually LEAD their squadrons. To quote Gen Olds: "...but make sure they know the buck stops with you, that you'll shoulder the blame when things go wrong. Correct without revenge or anger" Let the SQ/CC hammer their nuts, dish out he punishement (whatever it may be) and press! Cap-10

I have two stories, both while deployed to Bagram this year: 1) Chiefed (by the Command Chief) in the bathroom at 0330 becuase I was wearing my issued desert colored thermals under my PT gear when I went to go take a leak (inside my RLB). Instead of asking why I was wearing them, he just said "you know that's not an authorized combo, right?" to which I replied "Yup: and continued to take my leak. He then told me not to wear it anymore, at which point i told him that I was sleeping in my thermals and pt gear becuase it was January, it was snowing outside, and my heater had been broken for 6-9 days and i was trying not to freeze to death and all the camp mayor would tell me was "the work order has been submitted" but as soon as he could get my heater fixed, i would be more than happy to stop sleeping in my thermals....heater was fixed the next day. 2) Was sitting alert (sanitized uniform, no hats) and took the alert truck to get chow. As we were taking our to go lunch back to the squadron, we walked past the MXG/CD and he lost his mind becuase we didn't salute (hands were full), and the fact that we weren't wearing patches and hats...he obviously didn't care that we might have to be airborne, responding to a TIC in less than 15 minutes from the horn going off....MFP!

You can still wear black boots.....on Mondays with your blues. Next time I'm not flying on a Monday, you can bet your ass I'm wearing my black boots with my blues!

I must be taking crazy pills...mother AF cuts the amounts of fighter cockpits we have, then they start dropping KC-135's and C-17's to T-38 students. Then they start to realize they are short on 11F / 12F's, but they allows them to apply to VSP, then they RIF some. And now the CSAF publishes his guidance for plusing up the fighters and making more fighter pilots..........WTF, YGBFSM!!!!!

F-15E WSO's are being told they will stay in the jet for the fore-seeable future....pilots are getitng Ops-to-Ops even if they are on the WIC train.

There can't really be a magical strated prf. Unlike OPR's where the writer turns "snacko closet re-stocker" into " managed $69,000 of logistical supplies, increased squadron productivity 169%", the PRF's must be built with bullets already written on OPR's / awards, etc. The last line is still open for the rater to make his x of y strat.
