  1. I had already made a reservation prior to the implementation date...called Delta after the fact and added the CAC/Known Traveler # and on check in day, me and the two kiddo's had the pre-check logo on the boarding passes. CINCHOUSE does not have the pre-check logo, but at BOS, TSA allowed her to accompany us into the pre-check line after verifying that she had her dependent ID Card. At ATL, they only allowed me and kiddo's thru pre-check....wifey had to wait with the commoners! Cap-10
  2. Below is an update, passed on via request from the River Rats Board: The River Rats were approached by a former F15C pilot who has noticed an unusually large number of his peers have contracted cancer before the age of 50. Hoserfa18@mac.com originally sought data to support identification of a correlation between early F-15C pulse doppler radars and Eagle drivers who have contracted cancer. Initial responses indicate many aircraft types also have veteran pilots who have prematurely contracted a variety of medical conditions. The search is now expanding to collect any verifiable information indicative of links between aircraft and locations to pilots who have since contracted unusual or premature medical conditions. Request the following in unclassified format: 1. Individual Pilot name, medical condition(s), and age at diagnosis('s), 2. Aircraft type, model, radar versions, and timeframe and flight hours flown, 3. Engine and oil types and whether aircraft life support systems were directly connected to either, 4. Breathing air source - LOX, OBOGS, pressurized cockpit, or other, 5. Proximity to suspect weapons, such as depleted uranium rounds, nuke weapons, etc, 6. Locations where stationed and timeframes, and whether those locations were near EW operations, CBR warfare facilities, or similar operations that could be suspect. This includes ships (CV vs. CVN or other ships) and where those ships operated. During suspected CBR ops in ODS or OIF1? 7. Any other information considered pertinent. If correlations are identified and supported by the requested data, the River Rats will seek multi-service and VA acknowledgement of the findings, and determination of disabilities for those affected. In the interim, the gathered information will not be generally available and will only be shared with those known to the River Rats and whose assistance is required to address the issue. Formal VA acknowledgment of the clearly obvious effects of Agent Orange only occurred after decades of persistent effort. This issue affects a much smaller cross section of veterans, and receiving any acknowledgement from the individual services and the VA will be a long term undertaking. 3. I would say if you know anyone that flys mil air, regardless of MWS, and has exposure to radar/trons and has been diagnosed with any form of cancer, I would encourage you/them to contact "Hoser" Paulsen (see above)...the more data we have, hopefully, the easier our fight will be to get the military/VA on board. Cap-10
  4. Not sure how many folks visit the Aviation Medicine section, so I am including a link here to maximize visibility. Please go to and read. Cap-10
  5. The River Rats Organization has been receiving a lot of calls/e-mails lately regarding fighter aicrew being diagnosed with Cancer in their 40's, some in their 50's. Lots of findings of Prostate Cancer, but a couple incidents of Testicular and Thyroid...even a few Brain Cancer's. If you know of ANYONE that is involved with tactical aviation / radar exposure, regardless of their MWS, and they have been diagonsed with Cancer, please have them contact James "Hoser" Paulsen at hoserfa18@mac.com Hoser is the River Rats National Vice President and is the POC for data collection. Once the data has been compiled (and depending on what it shows) the River Rats intend to pursue the issue with military officials and the VA, much like what had to be done with the Vietnam / Agent Orange generation. Max help in distribution of the message is greatly appreciated. Requesting a little help from a Mod to have this thread pinned for max visability. Cap-10
  6. The first pic is an F-15E from Shady J...photog is a WSO from my squadron that does some semi pro photography on the side...nature pics while hiking, sailing, etc. Cap-10
  7. By CAF I was referring to Fighter squadrons (staying in my wheel house), where only initial qual and TX courses are accomplished....Instructor, FLUG, MC is all done in house. If they do away with PIT, (or Kirtland in your case), then I assume the metal and bodies would be spread out amongst the line units, thus allowing plus up of daily line flying. (Note: yes, I know that just because the metal and bodies are there, doesn't mean MX, range, airspace, etc can handle the increased daily flying) Cap-10
  8. Tricare Reserve Select (TRS) Single pays $52/month Family pays $205/month Co pay vary between $50 and $300 depending on rank and single/married. Max Catastrophic Cap is $1,000 per family per FY. Anytime you go on orders for 31 days or greater (contingency or not), you can enroll you and the family in Tricare Prime. Cap-10
  9. I saw the e-mail traffic that said P Qual is on for the 38's as well starting summer of 2014. Academics, Sims, 6-9 rides in the front seat, IQ Check, then a handful of RCP fam landing sorties prior to going to PIT. Syllabus at home stations is 35 training days.....at PIT, 45 training days. If that's the case, I say do away with PIT all together and let the squadrons do all the Instructor upgrades in house, like every CAF squadron already does. Cap-10
  10. Anyone know if this will apply for AFRC? I know a few AGR's and TR's that have >15 active years that are very interested in the TERA option. Cap-10

  12. Same way the new MB seat made it to the T-38 where, if the canopy fails to depart the aircraft during the ejection sequence, there is a well above average chance that your nugget will meet the canopy before the secondary thru the canopy piercers gets a chance to fracture the canopy, especially in the RCP where just bout everyone sits with their nugget an RCH below the canopy glass. 13. I was on the ROK 08-09 and all of the billets were filled with AFSC's that jived with their job MAAP Chief: F-16/F-117 Patch wearer AI: F-15E KI: F-16 OCA: F-15C CAS: A-10 SPINS: F-15C ATO: A-10 CPD/DO: F-15C CPD/CC: B-52/B-1/B-2 O-6 Cap-10
  14. I was a Chief of AI...MAAP Chief was a 11F Lt Col Patch...entire MAAP team were 11F's except for our ISR guy who was a prior U-2 guy. Cap-10

  16. What's the difference between a fighter pilot and Jesus? Jesus doesn't walk around all day thinking he's a fighter pilot. Cap-10
  17. For you wingman out there, your primary responsibility is deconfliction, which you do by staying visual and flying the briefed formation position. Cap-10 Edit: I type gooder.
  18. Anyone that says a Runners World cover wasn't about sex, you are out of your mind...there is a reason they display a woman with running shorts and a sports bra on the cover instead of a woman with full leggings, long sleeve shirt, ear muffs and gloves running in the winter...sex sells! The point about what the young ins are talking about is spot on!!! When I entered the Air Force in the 90's, no one dared talk about getting an ATP, and no one would even mention an airline by name...hell, you were fined for even saying "airline"...only appropriate term was " a-word" Now, all you hear is where to get an ATP, when is the next SWA app window opening, guys asking to upgrade to SEFE or FCF because they hear it helps get points with the a-words...dudes/dudettes walk into the Reseve office weekly to ask about palace chasing and the next AGR opening. 20. No...Q-1 pretty standard...maybe a ding, especially FTU check rides...I've seen only one or two Q-2. The one Q-3 was a SQ/CC directed when they departed the jet and negative over-G'd in the recovery....they were burning down gas to do an I-check. Cap-10
  21. Almost 20 years to the day of the Battle of Mogadishu. Cap-10
  22. Too late...guys are getting out and the squadron looks like a ghost town after 1600 and given day of the week...it's a race to get the grade sheets done and then get the fuck out of dodge. I know of only one person that took the bonus but 6-9 that are getting out...one of them put in paperwork for the bonus out to 20, only to pullback and change to the 5 year optin, then pullback again again and now he is getting out of active duty. We had a Crud tourney at the consolidated (vomit) club and the refs were calling "45" instead of balls/lips. Cap-10
  23. For me, it took 2 weeks from my final out until I showed up in the AFRC system to be official gained...started PIT about 2 weeks later. Cap-10
  24. The (6+9)-3 AF/CC at the time of the MFR was Lt Gen Robin Rand...he's picked up his 4th star and is skulling to be the AETC/CC. Over/under on the number of months before this MFR shows up at a UPT base? Cap-10
  25. Yes, white jet land. Said CC had a fighter slot as a UPT grad but washed out of IFF and then went to fly some big airplane with 4 engines....his disdain for the fighter guys is evident in just about every encounter. Cheers, Cap-10
