  1. STURON/CC had a CC call recently and told all the students that he would give them immediate paperwork if he heard them say 6-9, so to speak, etc. UFB! Cheers, Cap-10
  2. When my app got stuck along the way, I asked our civilian orderly room guy to ping the app in CMS. Apparently he could request a status in CMS...this request would ping the office where the app was sitting at the time and initiate a 3 day suspense that forced the current holder of the app to update the status in CMS or keep getting daily status request emails. It worked everything for me! Cheers, Cap-10
  3. Da da, da da da da...TITS!
  4. Hoss, Good advice about the aerobatics. Our alma mater was a flying school and I was a flying major...and now it's dead and the flying program is gone. Hope folks are able to see the advice despite an occasional spelling error. Eye suk at spellun goodly. Cheers, Cap-10
  5. I'm not an anti memory aid guy, I just think taking a pneumonic that has it widely accepted in a certain situation (NORDO EP) and using it for something else, is a bad idea, again, in my opinion. The first time I mention HEFOE during a stand up to the baby class and they start telling me that their engine stacks are good and they have good blinker/good pressure, I'm going to throat punch the first T-6 IP I can find and Irish step dance on his nut sack! Back to the topic at hand (and I apologize for getting the thread derailed)...I wouldn't study shit prior to starting other than the Boldface and Ops Limits. Learn them backwards, forwards, and upside down and you will be good to go. Good luck in UPT! Cheers, Cap-10
  6. I'm familiar with the T-37...I flew it...HEFOE was not taught as an Ops check pneumonic back then, and I've never heard it until this thread. HEFOE already has an established definition in the realm of EP's and I don't think it should be mixed with something else...terrible technique IMHO. Cheers, Cap-10
  7. Ah yes, that thing we teach students to do every couple maneuvers....otherwise known as an "Ops Check" As stated from some others above, HEFOE are the NORDO EP signals. Cheers, Cap-10
  8. My question still stands...WTF is a HEFOEP check? I know what HEFOEP HEFOE means...WTF are they teaching you guys theses days?!? Cheers, Cap-10
  9. The two ART positions won't open until middle to late next year. I believe there will be a mix of GS 13 and 14's...not sure of what step it will start on. Line guys would be a GS13 and leadership positions a GS14. As for schedules, I think the most common scenarios would be either 4 x 10's with double IDTs on Friday, or straight 8's and use the IDTs for weekend XC flying. We currently only have 1 ART in the 340th and he works up at the HQ level, so there is still some learning to be done wrt how an ART will work at the UPT line flying level. Cheers, Cap-10
  10. Bump... In my flight alone, we have 6 TR spots (Maj and Lt Col) open right now. Also have some AGR and ART positions opening sporadically over the next 12 months. Other squadrons at other bases are in similar positions. PM me if you want more info. Cheers, Cap-10
  11. WTF is a HEFOEP check? Cheers, Cap-10
  12. Two letters..... IG Cheers, Cap-10
  13. https://security.blogs.cnn.com/2013/08/10/osprey-aircraft-deployed-for-first-time-in-support-of-marine-one/?hpt=hp_c4 Osprey aircraft deployed for first time in support of Marine One By CNN’s Greg Clary (CNN) – Marine Corps MV-22 Ospreys, aircraft that take off vertically, provided a dramatic new look for President Barack Obama’s travel detail as he and the first lady began a Martha’s Vineyard vacation on Saturday. The Ospreys – making their presidential debut - shuttled White House staff, media and Secret Service members from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod. The sleek tilt-rotor aircraft can take off like a helicopter but fly like an airplane. The Marines say the Ospreys are twice as fast, can travel six times farther and are capable of carrying three times the weight of the Vietnam-era CH-46E helicopters which have supported missions involving the president. There are no plans yet to have the president fly in the MV-22s. The Osprey has raised some safety concerns over the years. It earned the unceremonious nickname “the Widowmaker” after crashes during initial development and testing. In late 2000, the Corps grounded the fleet after two crashes, one in Arizona killing four crew members and 15 passengers and another in North Carolina that killed the crew. But engineers redesigned the craft for improved safety and the Marines have used them extensively in Afghanistan. Plans to build a new fleet of helicopters to be used as Marine One have hit multiple budgetary snags over the years. Obama canceled plans for a new fleet back in 2009 after projected costs soared to $11 billion. Cheers, Cap-10
  14. 1) Unknown survivabilty / fire protection improvement 2) No...I tried wearing it a few times before I deployed and I couldn't get it to break in...was like it was over starched...very stiff (STS). I ended up wearing my normal green nomex jacket down range. 3) No Cheers, Cap-10
  15. And Norty is now on the Board of Directors for Aurora Flight Services...they make lots of UAS's! https://www.aurora.aero/Media/Press/Item.aspx?id=APR-300 Cheers, Cap-10
  16. CBM: 2 x F-16 F-15E T-6 FAIP B-52 2 x JASDF Cheers, Cap-10
  17. Last time a Talon landed gear up at CBM (many years ago), it flew the next day....replaced the flaps and speed brakes and it was good to go. Cheers, Cap-10 Edit: I spell goodly.
  18. Seems that the chute wasn't too far away from the RCP canopy and the burning wreckage isn't too far away either. Low altitude ejection?!?! I bet it all happened very quickly. Thanks Martin Baker and the Life Supoort Troops! Cheers, Cap-10
  19. I love how the camera operator had zero SA about the tilted Fighting Falcon....just kept on filiming the B-1 takeoff roll. Cheers, Cap-10
  20. The final turn is still deadly! Even though the new MB seat has better capes (it is 0/0) than the old seat, the 3000-4000 VVI and 45 degrees bank angle in the final turn is still a bitch...getting wings level, althought still with a hearty sink rank, increases your survival chances immensely!! We also still use 2K/15K for controlled/un-controlled bailout altitudes, which are the same numbers for the old seat IIRC. Cheers, Cap-10
  21. Bremont MB I https://www.bremont.com/chronometers/range/mb Cheers, Cap-10
  22. I started here looking at Title 10, paragraph 12646: Commissioned officers: retention of after completing 18 or more, but less than 20, years of service. https://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/USCODE-2006-title10/pdf/USCODE-2006-title10-subtitleE-partII-chap1219-sec12646.pdf Cheers, Cap-10
  23. First successful ejection with the new Martin Baker seats? Cheers, Cap-10
  24. I knew that! When I was talking to my bro's in the squadron before I dropped my separation paperwork, a few of them thought that my decision to exit would surely catch someone's attention at my base...I knew it wouldn't and that no one would say shit...I was right! Cheers, Cap-10
