  1. Thanks.
  2. I don't see in the article where the wreckage was found. Hoping they find the pilot.
  3. Yeah you may be able to plug into the jet but you'll have to then plug it into a standalone, burn the data to a CD or external HD and then finally transfer it to a network computer.

    Gun Talk

Yeah I had that paperwork too when I PCS'd to McChord, they gave me some excuse about wanting to know what weapons I was moving. Like the naive LT. I was, I filled it out, however, when I arrived on station I realized that paperwork was in the folder I was going to be handing to MPF. So I removed it before it inproccessed with my new base. They don't know what they don't know. ETA: I believe the current NDAA prohibits the military and commanders from asking about firearms possession unless they are concerned about mental health issues.
  5. How many times do we have to keep doing this to realize this doesn't work? We just keep arming our enemies. The only people who should be getting weapons from us are the Kurds.
  6. Wow, with the shoes and all.
  7. Also to add to your earlier comment about the CDC, it appears this nurse is also an employee for the CDC. Coincidence that the WH is against quarantines for political reasons and she's carrying the banner?
  8. You and I agree on a lot when it comes to Civil Liberties/warrantless search and seizure etc. I don't see this a shitting on the Constitution, since there is justified concern this women or any travel could have Ebola. No they aren't criminals but they could constitute a threat to the general public. Yes she didn't spend 21 days in NJ because Christie caved to political pressure and sent her to Maine, but she is still under a quarantine order there. If the medical professionals say they can detect and clear people earlier than that then I say great. However, I'm skeptical of you trusting the CDC and considering the current political climate. Considering the flurry of conflicting information from "experts", quarantine against a high mortality rate virus with no solid cure is and always will be the best practice. Yes the flu kills thousands every year but what percentage is that of actual people infected? Furthermore we have successfully handled the handful of people infected here in the states, but from my friends in the medical community, they are I'll equipped to deal with even a small outbreak. I have no interest in getting bent out of shape over this, it is currently not a massive threat, but it could become so.
  9. Well considering it takes 21 days for the symptoms to show; testing negative today doesn't really mean much. This isn't a detainment without cause nor is it an indefinite detainment. And yes lets take this to the absolute absurd, we should detain 5 year-old Jimmy with the cold.
  10. I think there is justifiable cause to quarantine a person traveling from an area of know infection. Showing symptoms shouldn't really be a causal factor since the exact purpose of this quarantine is to see if they develop symptoms.
  11. No healthcare workers/military/NGO orginizations etc. should all be allowed to enter and leave under controlled circumstances. Otherwise no one, except the military who has no choice, would ever accept to a one way trip to those areas; its hard enough to get people to go help as it is right now.
  12. Talking with friends that work in the medical field they are horribly equipped to deal with this on even a basic level. They have neither the training, equipment or facilities to handle even one case. Staffs are threatening to walk off the job becuase they refuse to unecessarily expose themselves to this. Yeah only one person has died but he would have made it through our laughable "screenings" at the airports. There was another study published that Ebola could possibly travel through sneezes and such. I'm not saying we should go DEFCON 5 on this but why are we still allowing people in?
  13. Posted twice on the previous page.
  14. What did "police state USA" say different than your article? And no one is defending this cops actions, we pointed out ways to mitigate his asshatery and keep yourself alive. I agree there are issues with the police mentality and training, that's not going to fix itself overnight and in the mean time being cautious might keep you alive.
  15. I already posted your second story in my earlier response. What exactly are you trying to convey? I can't for the life of me figure out what your issue is with the conglomeration of fragmented sentences that comprise your posts.
  16. ETA: posting buffoonery.
  17. https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2014/sep/28/emotional-toll-taxes-military-drone-operators-too/?page=1 "Emotional toll taxes military drone operators too" “It can be as impactful for these guys as someone in a foxhole,” said Air Force spokesman Tom Kimball. I get there are a lot of psycological impacts from this but I don't see connection between that and a guy in a fox hole who could be killed at any minute.
  18. In no way am I defending this guy, he fired shots from his already drawn weapon before there was ever a chance to visually ID a weapon (kinda like this guy: https://www.policestateusa.com/2014/michael-davidson/). I don't believe he should ever be allowed to wear a badge again. I'm saying when there are multiple people involved in a situation (especially people with weapons), being "right" is still right but being "smart and right" may keep you alive. ETA: I also don't know how this guy was allowed to carry a weapon, the guy he shot is incredibly lucky that out four shots from pretty much point blank range and he only hits the guy in the hip.
  19. I don't think he was insinuating that the guy did anything wrong, especially since the cop never even had a chance to see if the guy had a weapon before firing his already drawn gun. That being said there is a smarter way to go about reaching back into your car where a cop can't see what you are doing or reaching for something.
  20. That's comforting to know.
  21. On your first point, the ER is more than just late night colds. ER docs aren't subject matter experts, they get consults all the time from doctors elsewhere in the hospital (ortho, neuro, surgery etc). Its good training for the other docs plus what happens when those peope go off base for care need more than just ER level care? Admit them to the civilian hospital (which is probably way more expensive) or transport them over to the military one? Also for those who's families have specilists in the military hospital, showing up to an ER in the same hospital your specialist works is a great benefit. On your second point, its ridiculous that their records from the ER don't make it to the rest of the hospital.
  22. Disagree, having grown up going either at Bethesda NNMC or Walter Reed and now stationed a McChord with the Madigan Hospital on Ft. Lewis, there is a lot more I like about military doctors with relation to not only my well-being but my well-being relating to my military career. I've had some shitty experiences with military docs and my wife has as well, but we've also had shitty experiences with civilian docs. For the most parts the docs "get it" when it comes to medical problems and injuries related to our jobs. Sure the daily "I have a cold" could probably be handled by a civilian practice (minus what deaddebate already pointed out), but those hospitals don't exist for that. They exist to be a one stop shop for the war fighters coming home in less than one piece, close those hospitals and where do all the wounded warriors go not just for immediate care but rehabilitation?
  23. Advising the Taliban to leave our guys alone one 30mm round at a time?
  24. No the "War of Northern Aggression" is a sore loosers stance on it. It was a civil war, one side said "we are out of here" and the other side said "not so fast". The war was fought and determine that it would remain one country, completely fine by me. However, I found Lawnman's justification of using the Federal government saying you can't leave as the final answer, ironic, like anywhere in history or just thinking about it would a country willingly say "yeah go ahead and leave". Government's sole goal is to amass and keep power, allowing territory to leave goes against its fundamental purpose. Now I will agree the Constitution has no provisions to leave the Union, however Vertigo and Helodude hit the nail on the head, a) are you really free if you can't leave and b) you may not have a Constitutional right but there are rights higher than the Constitution. I'm pretty sure the Colonists didn't have a right under English Law to leave the British Empire, but there are inalieable rights that trump all government laws. I don't want to see any state leave, well actually there are a few and Texas isn't one of them, but if they did choose to then it would be their right to leave, but its also the U.S. governments right to keep them from doing so.
  25. Wait so the Federal government ruled that you couldn't leave the federal government? What a shocker, like any orginization of authority anywhere is ever going to admit you could leave their influence. ETA: I'm not advocating states leave, (however I do believe that's their choice since we are a voluntary union of states), just pointing out the irony of what you stated.
