Saddle up for Syria? Or Op Deny Christmas '13
Fuzz replied to brickhistory's topic in General Discussion
Most people I've talked to missed the embassy overrun, which wasn't hard considering chaos of what was going on at the time. I wasn't expecting much help from the Turkish anyways, if you've ever tried to get of Incirlik when you stop through there you'll understand. However, them letting us use Incirlik for operations would be the biggest benefit. -

In case you missed it when ISIS took Mosul a couple months ago, they also overran the Turkish Embassy there and are holding 45 embassy personnel hostage. The last thing Turkey probably wants is 45 videos of beheadings of their personnel flooding the net. Its not good for them, and it could sour the Turkish view of our presence in Incirlik, making a no-win situation for everyone but the terrorists. https://www.rferl.org/content/us-and-un-express-concern-over-iraq/25417594.html -
So because the law which I'm assuming we can all agree is wrong by forcing someone to swear to a deity they may not believe and thereby unconstitutional, is the law we should just follow it? I'm with Guineapigfury here, anyone with a brain should have realized that the AF and the code is wrong, and not pressed the issue becuase its a losing battle.

More like we meddled in Middle East affairs. This was OBL's complaint during the first gulf war when the Saudi's rejected his offer to bring islamic fighters to fight Saddam and instead brought in the coalition forces. We have been attempting to instil secular governments and non-sharia systems in the Middle East either directly through military occupation or indirectly by supporting people like Assad and Mubarak.

ISIS apologizes for releasing journalist Sotloff's beheading video by "mistake", becuase that makes it all better, guess we can call off the airstrikes. https://www.breitbart.com/Big-Peace/2014/09/03/ISIS-Claims-Sotloff-Video-Released-By-Mistake-Follow-Report-of-Ban-on-Beheading-Videos -
There are Herk drivers here that can provide more details but watching several friends that went the Herk route it took them about 2-2.5 years from showing up at a UPT Base to getting to their final base. The guard and reserve guys moved through the post-UPT training a little quicker but you are still looking at a year for UPT, a month for Water Survival & SERE and then another six months for C-130 school. That doesn't include downtime before and after UPT, and the move from UPT bases to Little Rock. Also I don't know your situation but to echo the other guys 4.5 years and there's not a ring involved seems ridiculous. He's about to make a big career decision and move to another city, but hey you two are adults and capable of your own decisions. ETA: spelling is hard

If the F-35 debacle is any indicator, whatever good ideas this guy might have are DOA. Making a fast, light aircraft with "metamaterials" (wtf? is this star trek) and super fast computers will never happen with the abomination of an acquisitions process we have today.

Possible coup? https://thehill.com/policy/international/214801-us-monitoring-reports-of-coup-in-iraq -
You're right but if I had to choose, I think I would go with CA. At least they have things like the sanoma wine country, the mountains, etc. Not many people I know take vacations to NJ over CA.
-
You're right the next time any government leader dies we should just forget about it; JFK shouldn't have gotten the enormous parade and horse drawn carriage cause it just made future presidents "more desirable targets". News flash, anyone with stars on their uniform in a combat zone has been a "desirable target" since the beginning of warfare. This man from all appearances was a well liked leader, who dedicated 30 years of his life to his nation, he should be recognized by the CINC for his sacrifice. Does recognizing him trivialize the deaths of junior officers or enlisted? No, I don't believe so, this man was a high ranking leader, who's death leaves a gap in the senior leadership that's not as easily replaced as a Sgt. or Lt.; It sounds harsh, yes but its a fact.

Because its in NJ? Not that I would trade one socialist state for another but there are still more redeeming qualities in CA than NJ.

I try to do this as often as possible, its amazing the looks I get when I tell non-ops people what the day to day like for us. Not to brag about how hard we have it but to make them see the why I need may pay fixed because I got told 12 hours ago I was leaving on a two week stage etc. For the non-ops guys please make a call to your local ops squadron; there's always a Lt. that can spare an hour or two.

"Good job today Lt. Snuffy, you didn't press the big red button. However, if you move your seat .69 feet to the right you could put the launch order, your checklist and the button all in arms reach. In fact let me get my whiteboard and I'll draw it out for you and break it down over the next 8 hours".

Why? (Serious question)
-
Agreed on the first point. On the second, I'm hoping that's sarcasm, considering this person apparently showboats about the then 18th AF/CC now AMC/CC being his personal mentor.

Cooperate to graduate (unless planning a political career)

Whose nuts we swing off of? What the fuck are you talking about? You always get a couple good posts in and then go tinfoil hat off the deep end again. -
If they start you on base, then give you a Non-A, they must give it to you for the entire time. They can only move you once, either off base to on or on base to off. But they can't bounce you back and forth every other day to keep their rooms maxed out.

Well there's that but I was speaking more towards reciprocity with CCW permits. She tweeted out right after that: "@EmilyMiller: More -- DC police chief using guidance from AG -- grants full reciprocity for all open and concealed carry from others states."

AFI 34-246: 3.2.1. Lodging Procedures for students who are TDY-to-school (AETC Bases) are as follows: 3.2.1.2. Managers must maximize the use of on base lodging. This means that managers may require students to be lodged both on and off base during the course of their TDY, provided students are only moved once and the length of stay in both locations is at least 5 days. For example, if students arrive and space is available for the first 5 days on base and the length of the TDY is 10 days, managers must place the students on base and then move them to off base lodging for the remaining 5 days. Students must receive 24-hour notice of any move on or off base.

Yeah went a searched his name, the "B-1 guy".

The comments on the JQP Facebook post has nothing but overt praise for this guy, which I think speaks volumes that his only detractor to come forward so far has nothing but wild and disproven accusations and has done so anonymously. There are always two sides to the story but so far only half of one side is being told because the other refuses to provide any info. It would seem that a commander that was fired for misconduct would go away quietly and not wish his story to be blasted across the internet. Surprised that he was fired or surprised it turned out this way? And hasn't Col. Rhatigan's name been mentioned before on BODN?

https://www.jqpublic-blog.com/another-commander-sacked-air-force-unrecognized-ethical-tailspin/ "In February of this year, the commander of the 19th Airlift Wing relieved Lt. Col. Blair Kaiser of command of the 30th Airlift Squadron, an active duty C-130 unit embedded within the Wyoming Air National Guard. The news came as an absolute shock to Kaiser and his 200+ airmen. He’d just returned from commanding a deployed squadron in Afghanistan, a job he’d done with great distinction despite having been dispatched on short notice almost immediately after being given command of the 30th." Looks like there may be another case reminiscent of Lt. Col. Perry.

"The court ordered the city to now allow residents from the District and other states to carry weapon within its boundaries." The biggest thing that stood out to me is the "other states" part, is the judge ordering the District to give reciprocity? If so that could be huge.

I didn't know he had applied, and was surprised that he got it.
