  1. My understanding is the 60 minutes piece was a result of him going to Congress, hence the reason the Congressman that's an Indiana Guard pilot appeared on the interview with them.
  2. Agreed, it wasnt something I was particularly pleased with doing. Next I'll plan that out better. Also my gun isn't a 9mm so I was a little less concerned with SFS having fun with it like they had been doing when I was at Vance.
  3. Apparently they don't understand the difference between federal and state property. Nevermind that every firearms law I have read always has an exception for military personnel while conducting official duties. Although being CA I wouldn't be surprised if they left that out. Last time I was TDY at Altus, I checked my handgun in at the armory and asked the airman what their protocols were for transporting it on and off base. He then proceeds to tell me that it needs to be locked in the trunk and unloaded; then says that according to OK law having bullets in the magazine is considered loaded so I needed to remove the bullets as well. I laughed and told him he needs to go reread the laws.
  4. When exactly is that supposed to happen again? Are they happening at other bases?
  5. Good on you for asking, still doesn't excuse the fact that this was a known problem by everyone from day 1 (and prior) and still took over 4 months to address.
  6. Better than the new yearly resiliency class, that people have said takes all day. Same deal have to sign up for it or catch it during a wing resiliency day.
  7. Mcchord is getting an Arbys in their food court.
  8. Sounds like a valid reason, what I said I was told during one of my PIQ rides with the deputy OG at the time.
  9. Sorry I was talking about Altus, END's BX is decent, but all Altus has is a shoppette and clothing sales.
  10. Apparently AAFES only counts permanent party when deciding the size of the BXs, so in trending with this thread's well established BX idiocy in management, they did not count the thousands of pipeline and TDY students that go through that base every year.
  11. "Open Letter From A Fort Hood Soldier: Unarmed, I Had to Lie Down and Wait to Die" https://www.thefederalistpapers.org/us/open-letter-from-a-fort-hood-soldier-unarmed-i-had-to-lie-down-and-wait-to-die
  12. My thoughts exactly MD, this guy was an E-4 in garrison, surely he absence for a couple days wasn't going to be the missing link that lost the war. This is a blatant example of not taking care of your people, I've seen my leadership get guys home from deployed locations for serious issues on the homefront, there is frankly no excuse for this guy's management (purposeful use of the word). While I question this guys PTSD from a 4 month deployment that never saw actual combat from my understanding, this type of stuff would be assinine even for a soldier not struggling with it.
  13. No excuses for this coward but the Army has some explaining to do. https://nypost.com/2014/04/03/fort-hood-shooter-sought-help-with-mental-issues/
  14. Surely you aren't talking about the same General Welsh that gave a speech wearing a Captain America mask?
  15. Rumor mill is in ROTC they are going to start offering guaranteed slots to field training to those willing to sign the dotted line saying they will compete for a rated slot when they return from field training. Catch is you have to compete for all three positions and accept whatever you are selected for or you can be disenrolled from ROTC. Seems like a great way to not fix the manning problems, I wanted to be a pilot but there were other jobs that I wanted more than Nav or ABM. So instead of having an awesome intel officer you'll have a disgruntled ABM, sounds like a recipe for success to me.
  16. Second paragraph, first sentence of the Captain's email. I think it was just poor wording on his part.
  17. Could those other 5,000 be people who weren't "eligible" but threw a package in anways? I know a couple people that from what I understand of the latest eligibilty requirements are ineligible but put in packages hoping for the best.
  18. https://www.airforcetimes.com/article/20140314/NEWS/303150031/Energy-drinks-in-downrange-DFACs Don't worry guys, while AFPC was dicking up the FM programs they managed to discontinue Rip-Its downrange, probably came up with the idea while they were judging that AF-wide BBQ competition.
  19. EDIT: Discussion about APFC killing more morale and ending Rip-Its moved to own thread per FUSEPLUG's suggestion.

    Gun Talk

FYI for any you that purchased AR-15 parts from Ares Armor. https://fox5sandiego.com/2014/03/12/gun-store-owner-halts-federal-raid/ ETA: According to several websites, the ATF just raided their offices, despite a restraining order prohibiting them from doing so.
  21. 7.5 months adavance notice? How exactly does that work on a 6 on/6 off schedule?
  22. Got to haul a couple of these for the SOAR guys and the pilots said their M's do have it.
  23. Can't find the video, but reminded me of M*A*S*H: Frank Burns: I know I'm a real asset. Hawkeye: You're only off by two letters.
  24. I've heard a rumor from a good source of the same thing, they said 50k+.
  25. Just got a forwarded email from a FAIP buddy at KEND, this place is now a banned establishment.
