  1. I can agree there are people who have definitely taken advantage of the system, but also there aren't 3.1 million Fords is also disingenuous, just because someone inherited their wealth doesn't mean they don't put into the work to keep it. When you can be a Mark Zuckerburg and go from nothing to billionaire in no time, heck yeah the money is going to become more concentrated on a small percentage. You know what that tells me? There isn't any competition, there's no competing facebook eating into his profits and subsequently expanding the percentage of wealthy Americans (again back to my lazy comment). Now when you start using laws, lobbying and other shady tactics to block competition, yeah I'm with you. I agree the revolving door in Washington, (anyone watch Sean Hannitys Boomtown?) and other white collar corruption is a problem, but I don't think the system is so broken it can't be fixed.
  2. Well anywhere from 30-70% of those millionares and billionaires are self-made (wide percentage accounts for how you define their starting point) so either get off your ass and do something like these people did or STF. I'm so sick and tired of people complaining about the rich, like they just woke up one morning and bam they were drowning in money. I've had the privilege of meeting some very wealthy people (no millionaires but I won't be surprised if they make it there) and these people pushed threw odds that most people would have thrown in the towel. If you read about many of the historic businessmen, they came from nothing and built empires, fact of the matter is the vast majority of America is too fucking lazy to have what it takes. To the liberals here stop before you even start with disadvantages ect ect. If George Washington Carver can teach himself to read at night after working in the Salt mines or Henry Ford can self teach himself from his rural farm home, or John D Rockefeller can come his single family home, any kid today can make it with the power of the fucking internet at his fingertips. /rant off
  3. The more important question is did your SQ/CC care?
  4. Yes as in your desert name patch on your sleeve (with your name and US Air Force redundantly on your chest also)?
  5. +2-4 years from commissioning to pinning your wings.

I know McChord does an occasional surprise "Health and Welfare" Check of the enlisted dorms, its a Saturday but its usually like 0630-0700 in the morning. Talking with my leadership they usually don't find much except a maybe an underage drinking or last night's hookup still there.
  7. Yes the 14th Amendment say the public debt won't be questioned. So discussing this with a friend we came to the conclusion that a default is possible in the scenario we are going through. From what I remember, in years past, whenever the debt ceiling has come up there has always been a budget or CR that extended past the debt ceiling date, therefore the President was authorized to continue spending money but under the 14th Amendment, he would have to prioritize the debt so it was paid first then what ever was leftover from revenue would fund the rest of the government. Today however there is no CR or Budget therefore the President can only spend money on the things the Congress has authorized him to continue spending on (i.e. Pay Our Military Act ect.). So when the debt ceiling comes and he can no longer borrow money and isn't authorized to spend any of the tax revenue what happens? We also came to the conclusion that since the 14th Amendment says the public debt will not be questioned that Congress is obligated to either A) pass a bill authorizing the President to spend the tax revenue or B) in the event revenues aren't enough to cover the debt (we are really fucked if we get to here), they must authorize the debt ceiling to be raised to continue paying the debt.
  8. Which foreign currency? My limited understanding of the monetary markets, leads me to think if we default and the dollar tanks in value there's probably not going to be many that are still worth anything?
  9. I think the point is on one side you have removed that power from the government, as proposing a draft or mandatory service would be political suicide. The other however, is people care less where the military is sent because unless you want to join the military then it's kinda out of sight out of mind because you'll never get the letter saying "report next week to Ft. Benning", so you don't have to really ever worry about ending up in one of the dozen hell holes all around the world we currently have people operating in.
  10. Missed that part thanks.
  11. Well I've seen so far the system has resulted in this crew be booted out of the AF and another court martialed (KTCM airdrop incident). The overall general belief from everyone I talk to (including those who know the pilots personally) is that since there was no AIB the AMC/CC got his info from the SIB. Might not be true but I haven't seen anything to counter it; so much is the belief that my Flt/CC (who knows personally the crew) sat me and some other new pilots down and said privilege no longer means what you say can't be used against you.
  12. not anymore
  13. Yeah that way I can peg the speedometer 30 not 31 because I'm precise like that and have what it takes to fly the F-22.
  14. They are trying to shut down parks they neither run nor own, including parks that have never been shut down during previous government shutdowns. https://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/10/03/Obama-Forcing-Shut-Down-of-Parks-the-Feds-Don-t-Even-Fund All I can say is good, makes him look like he's throwing a temper tantrum.
  15. YGTFSM!
  16. Oh the ironic truth that anyone who's actually been around most (not all) female pilots knows. I know a handful of female pilots who will beat any male in the room to "STS", but then again all males are rapists and fighter pilots especially.
  17. Yes, it has an engine driven PMA (permanent magnetic alternator) that powers it above 10% N2. The EEC will pull power from which ever source has a higher output, the buses will provide power when the fuel switch is on or the starter button is engaged.
  18. That would mean the stratification system made sense.
  19. I have been told the checklist pre-incident was very unwieldy and full of write in changes, and when some guys from AMC actually tried to run the checklist in the sim replicating the incident they determined it wasn't a great checklist and rewrote it. I'm not saying Day Man shouldn't have known how to run said checklist but how often was 4 engine flameout really talked about or done in the sim prior to the incident? (Honest question, the incident predates my time in the aircraft)
  20. I think this person fails to realize by trying to make an issue out of this, he has in fact just opened a can of worms. I find it similar to the "big red button" that nobody thinks about pressing until told not too.
  21. https://blogs.dallasobserver.com/unfairpark/2013/09/dallas_county_now_has_its_very.php Dallas PD gets an MRAP for warrant serving.
  22. I can only imagine how that would go down, and given the fact you probably weren't very well off on fuel sounds like you were cornered. And +1 to what FUSEPLUG said about the radar, I'm fairly new and already am cynical about the Radar system. We're you equipped with the new or old system? Also it sounds like everything I've heard about your actions is grossly and unfairly skewed, every I talked to until I talked with that sim instructor made it sound like you were an utterly worthless copilot and an idiot for trying to start the APU, but I honestly wonder how many experienced guys if they had been in that same situation without this as 20/20 hindsight would have done things wrong too, my guess is a whole heck of a lot. Procedures done right or wrong you and the other pilot brought that plane back on the ground safely, and that deserves a beer from me if we ever cross paths.
  23. Day Man I think Azimiths post was saying the report was skewed unfairly towards the crews actions. And green and yellow w/ magenta and nowhere else to go? I don't really see what else you could have done.
  24. Update all the kids are suspended for the rest of the year.
  25. that video is probably buried next to where ever they put the ark of the covenant at the end of Indiana Jones.
