Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon: Airman to run half-marathon in full uniform, 168-pound pack "On Sunday during the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon, Brustad will run the half-marathon in his Air Force uniform, including boots, carrying a 168-pound pack on his back in memory of the 168 lives lost in the 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building." https://newsok.com/oklahoma-city-memorial-marathon-airman-to-run-half-marathon-in-full-uniform-168-pound-pack/article/3669304 Watched this Staff Sargent hike the last mile to the finish line this morning to a standing ovation by the crowd. Pretty awesome event to witness, read the rest of the article to see the other world records he has set in memory of those who died. *Side note: he only weighs a 140lbs.

https://www.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123298140 Comment section: 4/16/2012 11:59:35 AM ET The flight suit is probably the only uniform Airmen wear that actually reflects AF heritage. I'm an exclusive ABU wearer and I can't understand why people get upset over non-flyers wearing bags. Granted we all hate the ABU but that doesn't mean everyone has to be miserable in it. You want to wear a bag cross-train JT, AK 4/16/2012 1:31:00 PM ET Now if we can just get Pilots to stop wearing the bag on days they are not scheduled to fly then perhaps the flight suits would last longer and in turn save tax payer too. Last time I checked LSD wasn't being prescribed. @ Spusmac: If you are trying to get the recommendation changed, I would say you have a better shot at that, than trying to get the AF to let you back in. Although I'm curious how you took a drug later without a prescription?
-
Yeah I mean it will get you a pair of ABUs, boots, and shirts and socks. I think I spent about $500 to get two sets of ABUs, service dress, undergarments, and rank/insignia (I already had a pair of boots), and then had to buy the Mess Dress as well. However, talking with a marine buddy, he spent over two thousand for all his uniforms, so it definitely could be worse.

I can see the CYA factor for the cadre involved, especially if there is no corroborating evidence they told him not to list it besides his word. I fail to see how one letter missing is significant, the only thing I can see that you could have a leg would be the fact that you did previously list the medication on the initial SF-86 and they did nothing about it and then claimed you failed to reveal it.

Yeah that $400 sure covered the cost of all my uniforms

"Flying the U-2 @ 70,000 ft." is the one that caught my attention. I know there is a trainer model, but still that seems like some super secret squirrel stuff for a guy like this to go fly in.

1st female Air Force combat vet in run for congress
Fuzz replied to F-15E WSO's topic in Squadron Bar
The point of my post was skepticism in her claims from the phone interview, since there is nothing on any website stating she was an A-10 IP (other than FAIP), mission qualified, or any awards (besides the Schilling award) EXCEPT on her websites or in articles she has written. -

She claims she was an A-10 IP and won several awards, and beat several other pilots at competitions, where are the records of that? I can't find anything on the internet. -
The only guy I know to submit an appeal had his rejected, but then again he was kicked for failing classes and not graduating on time. More details might help.

Sorry to plead ignorance but LOE? I'm interested because we were told that it can only be stuff that we have done after we started UPT, which is coincidentally when everyone stopped doing stuff because we thought it would be a good idea to maybe focus on learning to fly. It isn't a big deal for me because I'll be only a year on AD when I pin my wings, so I'll have at least 2 more OPRs before my PRF, I'm just a little annoyed at the fact that they want to start adding all this stuff to the generic training reports and we are 2/3 of the way or more through UPT. Maybe this forum has made me paranoid, but I can see it start to not bode well for guys that come out of UPT with nothing extra on their training reports. That's the message that was conveyed to us, they wanted to start putting things on paper so guys could have more places to pull from for the PRF.
-
So we (UPT studs) were informed today that we need to start tracking and compiling bullets for our training reports (volunteer hours, base activities ect.). We were told it was for our PRFs for captain. Not to complain (well yes I am), why does the AF care what I did during UPT, other than learn to fly an airplane to the best of my ability and haven't UPT training reports usually been a generic report (unless the person did something idiotic)? To put a cherry on top, we can't included anything we did while on casual, which is coincidentally when all of our eligible stuff was done . Side note, what type of performance report covers studs sitting on casual before pilot training or is it just a crack in the system?

The reg. is not written well, because if you read the next two paragraphs it starts talking about CAP, but Wolf pointed out, the AFI clarifies the what "orientation" means in this case.
-
Google works great also or the AF E-publishing website. Second "Pro tip" the AF publishes all this stuff, third "pro tip" most if not all AFROTC regulations start with AFROTCI 36-XXXX. The reg you are looking for is AFROTCI 36-2010 13.2 Authorization for Orientation Flights. 13.2.1. The detachment commander is the designated authority to approve orientation flights for cadets, applicants, and institutional officials IAW AFI 11-401, Aviation Management, Table 1.1, line 14 and the AETC Supplement to AFI 11-401, paragraph 1.9.4.7.1.6.3. NOTE: Cadets under legal age (18 years in most states) require parental approval in writing. Now I do know some buddies who called a squadron who they had heard gives incentive rides for a donation to the squadron bar, got their availability and then went to the Det/CC. Technique only, I don't know your Det/CC so that's your call.

Huge 2 on this right here. I left IFS thinking I had a little bit of a handle on what it takes to be a pilot... 10 months later and 100+ hours I'm still not even close. If you think memorizing a couple BF/OLs or the VFR cloud clearances are bad just wait till the stack of regs and tech orders you need to know by almost instant recall is almost a foot and a half high. That being said for me, while I didn't have a problem adjusting to IFS and did well there, the difference looking back was the time frame. Having 3 days of academics versus 6 weeks or 3 weeks of flying versus 5 months in the T-6 makes the firehose effect IMHO seem much worse.

Yet another Poser...this time pretending to be a Two Star

"The charge in Virginia pertaining to a fictitious military ID, in Cruze's case, carries a fine of up to $100,000 and/or two to 10 years in prison. That's a lot more than the $399 in traffic ticket fines he paid in Las Vegas for illegally driving with Purple Heart plates." This is why I love being from VA! I'm from the area, and with the amount of military personnel (active, reserve, ret.) in the area, the Loudoun County Sheriff's office doesn't take these incidents lightly (especially since many of them are veterans themselves). -
3.2.2.2. A Land Mobile Radio (LMR) is primarily a listening device and is not restricted. Cellular phones and other devices, used only in push-to-talk (walkie-talkie, direct connection) mode are considered LMR, if required and issued for the performance of official duties. 3.2.3. All persons while driving any vehicle are prohibited from using Government-supplied electronic equipment for text messaging or other hand-held uses unless the vehicle is safely parked or they are using a single ear bud or voice-activated hands-free device, except as outlined in paragraph 3.2.2 From the definition section: Hands-Free Device Operation/Use—The use of a vehicle voice-activated system or cellular phone in speaker mode or with a hands-free attachment (headset or single bud earpiece) that allows vehicle operators to keep both hands on the steering wheel and eyes on the road whenever the vehicle is in motion. Perfect for this thread Military cadets are celebrating gay pride week at the nation’s oldest private military academy by holding a “Queer Prom” and a “Condom Olympics” — an event that includes a game where participants smear lubricant on condoms until they tear. Norwich University’s celebration of homosexuality will culminate Saturday with a “Free Love Dance” at the school’s armory. The university said the events are meant to have an “open dialogue on diverse opinions in a safe place.” https://radio.foxnews.com/toddstarnes/top-stories/military-academy-hosts-queer-prom-condom-olympics.html

(DCA) TSA - Pre✓™ Trusted Traveler Program for Service Members
Fuzz replied to Finance_Guy's topic in General Discussion
That was my thought also, but I guess I can see their point, spouses don't get a background check by the military. But then again TSA security is a joke anyways so it doesn't matter.
