  1. And further down the hallway we tried to do that with the other HIANG guy slated for T-1s who was #1 in T-6s right after y'all did. The ANGB said pound sand we already did it once. As for the T-38 "FAIP"ing in the reserves, it has happened exactly once. Laughlin did that with a non-rated major and they are always hurting for AGRs. https://www.919sow.afrc.af.mil/News/Article-Display/Article/1160980/reserve-student-pilot-chosen-for-instructor-duties/
  2. What did I just watch? Is this a new fetish thing for O's and E's getting it on?
  3. Are the UPT-Dv2.0 meeting the RPA recat board?
  4. Wouldn't be surprised. Especially with the involuntary mobilizations dropping to UPT TRs.
  5. There was a T-38 FAIP from CBM to DLF also. The Red Bulls need FAIPs so AFPC gave them their pound of flesh from END and CBM.
  6. Just a RAM Key SecFo is running.
  7. Well in Hercs there's someone to get your ATIS.
  8. This seems like marketing. Brand new account and only posts are a review
  9. The plan is if you get smoke and fumes to reconnect to the OBOGS and turn it back on... At least that's the waiver that 19 AF had signed by AETC/A3. It's a real winner.
  10. Ship of Theseus with SLEP
  11. Debra James, the selfie Queen, I mean former SecAF
  12. ABC alleging POTUS may ban bump stocks.
  13. Earliest procurement is FY20 so October 2019.
  14. Is that the Selfie Queen herself?
  15. Can't PCS an IP when he can 7 day opt and the airlines are hiring. Edit: As in, F-16 IPs don't want to go to Holloman because the location is terrible so they will decline those PCS orders and separate to go to the airlines/ARC.
  16. Isn't this similar to how wings were equipped before the current construct? Maybe 80s time frame.
  17. I think the Alliance team wants Brownwood MOAs interim but primary is talks to develop newer, closer ones. As for the jets, I think the idea is to fully invest in UPT maintenance/parts so they will take a few from each base.
  18. This isn't going to be at a UPT base. It's going to be in a big city. RUMINT is Alliance Fort Worth wants it.
  19. Something not included in the FBO.GOV listing is the desire to have C-IFF at the same location.
  20. @HuggyU2 gear up for a blue suit job. The USAF will provide Government Owned Contractor Operated (GOCO) T-6As and T-38Cs. No toners. This is just a RFI and not an RFP but it's just a matter of time. https://www.fbo.gov/index?s=opportunity&mode=form&id=4f69cd28bca0a8c07e21486897f2f83e&tab=core&_cview=1 Of note it looks like they want a desirable location. So the AF knows that they need a good location to attract retired/separated mil IPs
  21. Aerospace Daily & Defense Report James Drew Jan 31, 2018 Boeing released this image of its BTX next-generation trainer proposal on Jan. 30: Boeing Boeing wants to confine knobs and switches to a bygone era. The company this week released the first images of its T-X cockpit, revealing a 21st century knobless and switchless touchscreen large-area display. The “BTX” aircraft Boeing designed with Saab for the U.S. Air Force’s Advanced Pilot Training, or T-X, competition has identical displays and symbology in the front and rear cockpit. In a training flight, the instructor pilot can see exactly what the student sees, and which inputs are selected. If Boeing’s offering for T-X is selected, this new cockpit design would become standard for all airmen preparing to fly Air Force fighters and bombers. Large-area touchscreen displays are also featured in the cockpits of Boeing’s main rivals, the Leonardo T-100 and Lockheed Martin T-50A. Boeing says when designing the cockpit it had today’s youth in mind—a generation raised with smartphones and tablets that have few, if any, physical buttons. It has tried to eliminate as many knobs and switches as possible by consolidating them into a virtual touchscreen architecture. “Brand-new features include the avionics large-area display, the up-front control, and the touchscreen technology,” Boeing T-X Chief Test Pilot Steve Schmidt says. “We’ve really tried to put as much functionality on there as we could and take as many mechanical switches out of the cockpit.” Boeing first unveiled its T-X proposal in September 2016 but waited until now to reveal the cockpit configuration. It has not named the supplier. The BTX is up against the T-100 and T-50A for the $16 billion trainer procurement program. The Air Force needs at least 350 trainers to replace its 1961-vintage Northrop T-38 Talon. The Talon’s avionics were last updated beginning in 2001. The service issued its much-anticipated T-X request for proposals in December 2016 and has taken longer than expected to announce a winner. The selection is now expected this spring or summer. Air Force Secretary Heather Wilson said recently that T-X evaluators have requested additional technical details from each of the competitors. Boeing would build its BTX in St. Louis.
