Ok. Thank you. Man, I’ve gotten old. “Now you kids with your loud music, and your Dan Fogleberg, your Zima, hula hoops and pac-man video games” -Ted Denslow

You’ve posted this face multiple times…In all seriousness, what the f@$k is it? Also, I’ve been a member of this f&!?*ng forum since 2005 I think, you’re a mod right? How long does a guy need to be a member here before he can drop some F-bombs, like the other kids??

You know, Bud Light could really win some customers back if they brought this advertising series back again. Or maybe that was the plan all along and their first commercial is going to be “Bud Light salutes you Mr Mutilates Your Dick and Cuts Off Your Balls Guy!”

I’d say it’s fairly common. Some folks just can’t cut it, for whatever reason. Guard units then will go to sister squadrons and play baseball GM trading draft picks. We’ve sent dudes who didn’t make T-38 to a heavy squadron, as well as picked up a guy who was at a heavy squadron, but wanted fighters and scored high enough to make the 38 cut. Guard units are pretty good about helping each other out.

Not trying to pile on here, but also you need to realize that the chances of getting palace chase approved are slim to none as well. Those who have been successful, are generally in the last year of their commitment, or so. Not saying you won’t still want to go back to UPT in 10 years from now, but I’d recommend shopping for a mission/airframe that seems enjoyable to you for the time being. Going to fly RC’s or EC’s because they’re ACC is going to make for a long decade and at the end of it, you may not be that interested in flying fighters anyway.

Agree with all. I like your dark horse picks as well. Not saying I expect them to be in the national championship anytime soon, but it’d sure be fun to see Colorado and Nebraska relevant and slugging it out. That was a great rivalry.

Well it’s spring ball time already! Only a few more months until another season kicks off!! Let’s hope it’s as exciting as last year, minus that championship game. Who do you got winning it all this year? Also, draft time again. Some of the “experts” are saying QB’s are going to go 1-4 picks for the first time in history. I find that difficult to believe since they all are kind of, unremarkable.

Definitely the recruiter for the particular unit, in this instance. It is certainly possible to enlist from another area. Guard/Res recruiters only answer to their own unit, unlike AD. So, your local guy isn’t going to go out of his way to help out another unit. If you got your heart set on the 302nd, https://www.477fg.afrc.af.mil/ talk to their recruiters. They’ll be your best source of info for enlisting there.

I think you’re on the right track here, but please listen to what I’m about to tell you…Enlist in the Guard!! Don’t go AD if you want to be a guard pilot. Enlist in the unit you want to fly in. They will probably cover your tuition, leaving your GI bill to pass on to your kids one day. You should spend a fair amount of time getting to know the pilots. They’re the ones who are going to select you for a pilot slot. We guard pilots like to pick known quantities, if you enlist AD and show up at board time, you’re just another guy.

Well said Sir. Wish everyone in the USA could read and understand these words. To all the take your gun types: Here’s an idea too! How about we pass a law making it illegal to go murder a bunch of kids in a school??!! Oh wait, that law is already in place? Damnit, well I’m guessing the school shooter probably won’t obey gun laws either then if they’re gonna ignore homicide laws.

Usually yes, but my wife isn’t. She’s a damn good shot too.

Don’t fall for it @FourFans!! Of course the liberal is going to suggest you go and speak up at a school board meeting. How else is the Gestapo, oops I mean FBI, going to know who you are?? Here’s an article, not from Fox News, so it’s ok for our lib friends to read it… House Judiciary Committee Republicans claimed in a letter on Wednesday that the FBI conducted investigations into Americans based on allegations that they threatened local school boards, citing whistleblowers from the agency. The FBI’s counterterrorism bureau reportedly created an internal “threat tag” in fall 2021 to track alleged threats against school boards following an October 4 directive from Attorney General Merrick Garland. Garland released his directive after the National School Boards Association called on the Biden administrationon September 29 to investigate parents who allegedly threatened boards over policies on school masks and critical race theory, and to determine whether the parents had violated

I like yours and VMFA’s thoughts and I know some states have thought of this too, but what about arming willing teachers??!! I can’t take the screaming you get when mentioning this novel idea. Is it any crazier than pilots being FFDO’s? Of course not. Set up a training program, and teacher’s can go and then carry a gun to work instead of just sitting there waiting to soak up bullets. Maybe it’ll give some of these pieces of shit something to think about, prior to walking unchallenged into a school and shooting the place up.

Well said. At least she was mentioning the current events, however. Her husband was busy rambling about ice cream. I suppose that it’s for the best if Joe Biden just sits in the corner and talks about ice cream.

So we have a couple of pilots here too then? Maybe I’m naive, but I assume most would consider the pilot to be aboard the plane, ship, dirigible, or any other thing that can kill them if it goes down. Hell, I rarely steer the plane, much less touch the rudder, while at my airline job, damn thing does it all by itself, but the company still pays me that pilot money twice each month.
-
Agreed!! Also, not sure if it’s been mentioned before but “The Cold Blue” is on HBO max and should absolutely be mandatory for USAF personnel to watch. If you haven’t seen this yet, stop whatever you’re doing, even if your house is on fire, and watch this now!

Masterfully written response. And once again, I appreciate your insight. If I were placing bets, I’d go all in on your theory. I do believe that we’ll see some state boundaries change in the not too distant future. I bet the good folks of Greater Idaho would be thrilled to sell organic potatoes and cruelty free/free range chicken to the people of Portland, instead of being governed by them. How the boundaries get drawn and who gets to decide, however, will get messy. The utter contempt and hatred that the urban centers heap upon their food producers is mind boggling, and I don’t believe will continue to be tolerated. Even if financial hardships must be endured.
-
I’m going to have to disagree with you on this one, respectfully of course. There’s currently an awful lot of ballot initiatives for state boundaries to be redrawn, states joining other states (ie greater Idaho), and outright secession. While this may seem like nothing but noise at the moment, the fissures in our union are undeniably growing. I recently read an old, fantastically researched, history on the Civil War by Catton. The first book is called “The Coming Fury” and focuses mostly on Congress 1860-61, the parallels to what we see today are quite shocking. Now I’m not betting we‘ll be engaging in gun battles with our neighbors any time soon, but I am saying, throughout time, the lines on the map have always changed, and they rarely change peacefully.

Regardless of gender, if I were a kid and was taken to visit a drone squadron, I’d choose the librarian path too.
-
Well if you bothered to read what Flea was asking for, which I was kind enough to quote, you would’ve seen that he was asking for data verifying hiring based solely on race and gender. But thank you for reminding us all that half the planet’s population is female. You’re probably right though…Must be that old (male) white devil out there telling all those girls they can’t be pilots again.
