  1. Does CO still have LATN still? I know Cannon's trying to work LATN for the CV-22s in NM and CO--hasn't been approved though, yet. Once it is, should be great for training.
  2. I think Gen Welsh can make that happen for you. Once he gets done fixing the KC-X acquisition, F-35 OT&E, F/A-22 OBOGS, and the next round of base closures, I think your boots are next.
  3. stract called it. Y'all are too low to work RMC... especially in Afghanistan.
  4. Bingo. Besides, I used to think I knew what space does and had no problem throwing hate their way until I went to the weapons school. Now I know It's pretty myopic to think we can fight and win a war with China, Russia, Iran, et al without the space guys.
  5. Bingo. And the mainlines have already begun consolidating their fleets to wide bodies to compensate. The regional world will continue to hire, but the "cushy" mainlines will still be competitive. If everyone wants to leave the Air Force to be a RJ first officer, be my guest. The dark horse is going to be the cargo world in the Asian market, though. It could prove to be fairly lucrative.
  6. The man asked for an opinion and I gave it--sorry if me liking my life offended you.
  7. 1. Better 2. Yes I flew commercial before joining the AF and hated it. It's not even fair to compare military tactical flight with most other civilian options.
  8. Old pics from Alpha and Charlie ramp.

  13. My point is when religion extends too far into our line of work, it never works for anyone.
  14. No, he was discharged for being a CO, shortly after.
  15. Because we had a gunner who wouldn't load the guns over Afghanistan because "thou shall not kill".

  18. Which is why I suggested that I might've taken your quote out of context. I never said shit about them being good allies. See above.
  19. It's entirely possible I took Noonin's post out of context, so if I did, my bad. Whatever the case is about the capes of the Libyan C3I, my point is that the frogs flew through some legit threat rings, without SEAD and before most other NATO countries. And yes Rainman, you flew in Kosovo and dealt with a robust IADs that blows the Libyan "IADs" out of the water. Got it.
  20. Who flew through the Libyan IADS before anyone else on this board did.
  21. Depends. The actual flying portion is probably easier than your slick days (except for AR and fixed shooting) so by that assumption you're ahead. But understanding the AC-130 missions and how to lead the crew is usually more difficult than the hand flying. Not grasping either one of those concepts can delay, if not deny yourself upgrade.

I know what you're getting at. Just keep in mind the Air Force isn't all flyers and "pencil pushers". I've worked with STOs who'd crush the notion that "flyers" are, on average, better than non-flyers. At any rate, C-17DRIVER is right. That one guy working the office is going to have a hard time flying for currency, let alone proficiency. Hook the guy up so he can keep his credibility in the airplane.
  23. Try telling that to the MSOTs, ODAs and ETTs at the village stability platforms. Or better yet, try telling that to CJSOTF-A or CFSOCC-A. Hell, even the national mission force is now operating within the context of COIN in Afghanistan. You are right, though, we will pick up a CT mindset in the near future. This is somewhat tangential to the body desecration but it speaks to where some of these opinions come from. The CAF could stand to lean more about asymmetric warfare. And so long as there are MPCs in the WSAUD that don't even discuss the GFC scheme of maneuver or the JFLCCs priorities, we'll continue on that road. Whether that's right or wrong has been debated for years and this thread probably isn't the place for it, anyways. My point is, we're still engaged in COIN and the CAF's knowledge of COIN is lacking, which explains why many think what happened is "ugly war".
