  1. You will know what you're going to be before you sign the contract. Not sure as to the length of time it has been this way, for as long as I can remember.
  2. I was at San Antonio and took a drive out to Hondo. They were just lined up and chained down. That was about 3 years ago so who knows now.
  3. I live in Whiting Pines (stumps is more appropriate) and its not bad. There are plenty of people around that you can carpool NAS Pens for API so that really isnt the issue. It's nice being able to pull out of my driveway at 0800 and have my briefing board set up and ready go at 0820. If your wife gets a job in Pensacola then you might want to consider some of the places ellsworb mentioned. [ 06. September 2005, 20:18: Message edited by: wannafly ]
  4. Brooks took one day and after all the hype that I had heard, I actually thought it was rather lame. They didn't do anything that wasn't already done to me except for the cardiogram (or what ever it was) and the psych test. over all not much to worry about.
  5. I was fortunate enough to get a viper incentive with a pilot who was more concerned about me enjoying the ride than trying to push the plane to its limits. He pretty much did what toro did, but after I figured out I could handle it I told him to let loose. Most fun I've ever had with my clothes on and I'm the only guy in my API class that can honestly say that I have done MACH .99 @ 500 MSL and been over 9g's. That ride is what pushed me to get my commission and go for my wings.
  6. LOL. I'm in API right now. I dreaded the NOMI (for no reason). It was kind of funny actually. All the AF pilots that went in that day (like 8 of us) came out with glasses. Already had the FC1 and been through brooks and the Navy decided I needed glasses. But other than that you'll be fine
  7. I've seen pictures of the short bus. Helmets and all. funny as hell
  8. Birddog, I'm in the guard as well (10 years). I applied and was accepted to OTS so maybe I can shed some light on the subject for you. You will have to take the MEPS physical again (it sucks I know). After that you will then have to take the FC1. When you apply you will be applying as a civilian (although you can include all you military history, letters of rec from commanders and all that). Your MEPS visit probably won't be as long as the last time. Mine was done by about 1300. They stuck a nice little sticker on me and I was able to step to the front of whatever line I was in. If you have any question feel free to ask away. Its a very long road and if I can make it a little easier for you I will. One bit of info on your FC1. Do it now and do it at your unit. You can control the process a little better that way.
  9. I remember when the same thing was being said about switching from the pickle suit to the BDU's. With a few mods this could actually be a good uniform (first and formost lose the marine hat). I do like the tiger stripe throw back though, colors aren't the greatest but like the pattern.
  10. Max, reminds me of when I was graduating boot camp back in 95 except I got to watch it. My dad is a Chief and of course was decked out for my graduation. Well after we were done and on base lib he must have gotten saluted by everyother BMT trainee we passed. He was cool about it though. Just let them know that he worked for a living and to look a little closer next time. Still get a chuckle out of that.
  11. Guard Goes to AMS. Active and reserve goes to OTS although there have been a few instances were reserves have got to AMS.
  12. listening to it right now. Funny as hell. Fbomb thanks for meeting up with me last night. I'll keep you posted on what happens. Let me know when you head out.
