  1. It's interesting that he was a wing/cc twice (Shaw and Misawa), three times actually if you include the 332nd Air Expeditionary Wing...
  2. WTF? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZR6Cw_3q1Pg From the Turkish movie 'Kareteci Kız' (1973) so no, that's not Rowan Atkinson! Actually, his name is Bülent Kayabaş and he's still acting as recently as 2009!
  3. Big time respect! But you can't ignore the irony in an orthopedic surgeon named "Bone"...

    Gun Talk

I was bopping around the local gun show with my teenage son a few weekends back when I hear a young lady working a booth say "We think it's Polish, but we're not sure what it is!" Obviously, that got my attention so I walked over and saw this... A Polish NSP-2 night vision scope. I start talking to the young lady and some other guy working the booth, and he tells me he bought from some dude who found it in an abandoned storage locker (ala Storage Wars). He also lets slip what he paid for it ($80), so I offer him $100 and he says he doesn't know how much it's worth but he'll take it. It's not pristine but it's also not in bad shape for a 1960s first generation night vision scope. It's missing the battery, but what little I have found I've been able to find some folks say a 6v battery will work. The upside? Well, like I said it was an insane deal. After I got home, I found that in this state, these usually run about $300. Plus, the cool factor is high. Still, I would like to see if it is operational...I know this is older technology, but it should still work. Here's a pic of it on my Saiga... It weighs a freaking ton and is monstrous compared to the red dot I normally run on this AK! Cheers! M2
  5. I knew him as a colonel at SHAPE, he was a pretty good dude. I was also just over at USFJ for work and passed by him a few times, but he didn't recognized me as I've changed quite a bit since retiring (I pretty much look like "The Dude" from The Big Lebowski these days) and he was busy so I didn't want to interrupt him. So why the question? Feel free to PM me if you want, my experience is a bit dated but it was all pretty much positive if that's what you're looking for... Cheers! M2
  6. I have the 2005 IOM TT DVD, honestly it is more amazing that Superbikes and even MotoGP! Riding at those speeds along such narrow, twisty roads takes massive tackle (to coin a Brit phrase). Many professional riders are not allowed to race it because of the risks involved. The fact that Joey Dunlop won it 26 times, to include three hat tricks (1985, 1988 and 2000), is beyond belief. Dunlop was killed in 2000 during a race in Estonia, and 50,000 people attended his funeral. A statue of him astride a Honda was also placed on the course at Bungalow Bend at Snaefell. He was very superstitious, and always wore a red t-shirt under his leathers and a yellow helmet. The man was and continues to be a legend in motorcycling... Cheers! M2
  7. I am still in shock, Rich was a king among men, a positive force on everyone he met and a true inspiration. The world is a sadder place without him. Godspeed my friend, you will be badly missed! ~ M2

    Gun Talk

$559 for a .22LR? Sorry, I love .22s; but that's a lot more than I'm willing to spend on one especially considering that you can get a GSG-522 from Bud's Gun Shop for just over three hundred bucks or even a used 10/22 for $150-200 easily. For that money, you can get a much bigger caliber rifle and really do some damage! Cheers! M2
  9. The same applies here...
  10. Lose yours?!?
  11. WTF? Story
  12. Way to go Democrats! More at the title link. Cheers! M2
  13. Finished it on the plane ride home this afternoon, the entire book is interesting and a good read. Highly recommended for anyone who hasn't made up their mind about it yet... Cheers! M2

  15. Not a lot of notable landmarks in that area that the majority of Americans would know of, heck I would be surprised if many people in this country could even find Afghanistan or Pakistan on a map. I think it was just a general reference for those types, as I doubt Jalalabad or even Islamabad would register. But for the most part Abbotabad is about 230 miles due east of Kabul...
  16. Actually, she wasn't the one who made the call...got this FBI news release today: Nothing on the ex-girlfriend yet...
  17. I thought you just were running with the usual joke, then I read the article...
  18. Here's a brief excerpt to demonstrate the aforementioned writing style... As I said, not badly written and very detailed. Looks to be a hit! (pun intended). Cheers! M2
  19. Got a copy of chapters 15 & 16 from a source I cannot disclose, obviously this is just a small portion (16 pages) of the overall book but in them is a very detailed description of the mission once the team got inside the house. The writing is very businesslike, no excessive bravado or chest-thumping as expected. Included were graphics of the three levels of the building. Now, is the information I read a disclosure of classified or sensitive information? Hard to say, but given the level of detail I would say so. No wonder the higher-up are pissed, and someone's ass is definitely going to end up in the fire for this one. But also based on what I've read it appears that it will be a good book and worth the money. Looks like I'll be downloading it on my Kindle this evening. Cheers! M2

    Latest Movies

Watched The Three Stooges on the flight to Japan and honestly, and it actually wasn't half bad! I didn't have high expectations, but found it entertaining and somewhat true to the original Stooges. Considering all the horrible remakes as of late, this one is worth watching via Netflix or Redbox... As a bonus, there are small roles by Kate Upton (although Sofía Vergara is hotter and has less of a mustache) and Larry David of Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm fame... Cheers! M2
  21. And this video was loaded up a while back...
