    Latest Movies

The first movie was pretty good, I don't see the reason for another especially since other units such as the 4th Fighter Group haven't had a movie made about their exploits during WWII...
  2. If anyone has access to the CSAF Daily Ops update on SIPRNET (linked on the SIPRNET BaseOps Intelink page), there is a little info on this incident...but it's marked 'FOUO,' so I can't post it here. Cheers! M2
  3. Wow, it only took the Navy four-and-a-half years to figure out that she was bat-shit crazy!

    I'd rather watch The Inbetweeners...
  5. Catbox Just remember you do have options, and it's normal to stress such decisions. Even with a relatively easy transition at retirement (I had a job lined up), I was still wound up about things. It didn't help that we lost my Dad at the same time, but it all turned out well. Looking back at that and a few other critical decision points in my life, I can say that much of our worrying was for naught. We went through a similar crisis when our first son was born, and again with our second who was later diagnosed with autism. These are not easy decisions to make but keep in mind that they're not the end of the world either. Just plan accordingly and be prepared for the unexpected, it's that simple! Cheers! M2
  6. I had an old squadron commander once tell me "the Air Force cost me my first marriage." I called BS. It was his choice, his decisions, and his priorities that did it. Just keep in mind that things are not that great on the outside right now. Have options if you can't find a job right away. School's a good idea if your family can swing it, consider going to an online college such as AMU if you need flexibility in your schedule. Be absolutely sure you have a budget, nothing will stress and the Frau out more than worrying about money. Prepare for the unexpected, and don't go tapping your savings unless you absolutely have to. It can be done but it won't be easy, and it is up to you to determine what your priorities are. To be honest, the time between when I hit 13 years and when I retired flew by in a flash; and despite the threats, a military retirement is a good thing to have. But even in the five years since I hung up the uniform a lot has changed, and ultimately you have to consider all aspects of such a move and how it impacts you and most importantly your family. Good luck, it's not an easy choice! Cheers! M2

C'mon now, you gotta admit that Rain's post is damn funny! As for which ones I'd date, I guess I'm getting less picky in my age but there are a few on there I'd consider if I were in the market...starting with #3. Cheers! M2

    Gun Talk

Wow, I guess I am gaining a little local gun show celeb status here in SA. Yesterday a bunch of us met up for breakfast prior to a new gun show here in town. Two of the promoters came to the restaurant and not only paid for our meals but also gave us free passes to get into the show. They had read our reviews from their first show earlier this year, and our latest attempts to get people to the show (it really is a good one), and felt they would show us their gratitude. I spent some time talking with the son of the promoter giving him some insight as to what was working and the few things that could be better, and he was very responsive. They also ended up giving us free passes to the next show in September as well! It is a great show, and I did pick up a Tula-built Russian AK bakelite bayonet for a decent price. I could have easily dropped more money at the show, but my oldest needs braces and I am waiting for that bomb to drop before I go spending cash on more guns! Cheers! M2

Yeah, I was just up in Alaska and the amount of overpriced Deadliest Catch crap their hawking is amazing. But it's even sadder as RJF has a reputation for some excellent AK builds. They've sold out with the show as far as I am concerned...
  13. Glad I made it home this afternoon...
  14. I had the honor of meeting GEN Shalikashvili back when he was the Chairman and I was a young captain. I was in Slovakia at the time on a military liaison team, and he and Madeline Albright rolled into town. We helped the embassy with the arrangements, so we were at the location where he was meeting the Slovak military leaders. He saw us from across the room, and made his whole entourage take a detour so he could walk over and meet the team. He was very friendly, and made time for us to take photos with him. Actually, we all got two pics each with him, as he made an excuse for the second picture with each individual but we realized he did that just in case the first photo didn't turn out (fuzzy, someone had their eyes closed, etc). Then he handed us each on of his coins. Considering the number of people he had waiting on him, I was very impressed that he took a few minutes to meet with a couple of US military personnel who were there. Godspeed, GEN Shali!

Actually, I have been quite disappointed with Sons of Guns for not focusing more on AKs! Red Jacket made its reputation on AK builds, and all they show are stupid projects as the "Master Key" (which, contrary to what they claim, has been done before) as well as the "semi-auto AK sniper" (PSL, M76 or Dragunov SVD anyone?) and that idiotic "triamese" M-16. The AK-47 silencer was a waste, I still don't see the point. Will Hayden is on one of the AK forums I frequent, I fear he's following the path of the Tuttles (American Chopper) or the Harrisons (Pawn Stars) where it's more about the show than the business. Red Jacket Firearms had a reputation of being a good AK build shop, but with these kinds of shenanigan projects it's just going to get more ridiculous. Hell, their web site is an indication that they are going down that path...

Yeah, he had me going as well. That was a pretty good PhotoChop!
  22. Yeah, I was kinda confused as I couldn't see how anyone could trash George and Willie; but I do have a wide variety of tastes in terms of music. I do love R&B, jazz, funk, old school country, anything 80s or earlier, Big Band, grunge, classical...basically anything but most modern pop and rap. And yes, that include Sorry for the misunderstanding! It's all good! Cheers! M2
  23. Dude, enough of the Top Gun references already! You can skip the CAP stuff as well. Most of us are pretty familiar with that organization...
  24. Look, I know they put up with all kinds of liberal bullshit out there in Callyfornia; but badmouthin' George Strait and Willie Nelson will get you a serious old-fashioned ass-kicking around these parts! George actually lives about nine miles from here as the crow flies. I ain't run into him yet, but I do know we both shop at the same furniture store in Leon Springs. As for Willie, he's still playing Floore Country Store in Helotes every Saturday night, at least according to the sign out front! And I'm bettin' you knew who Patti LaBelle was as well...don't try and deny it!
  25. This. And anyone who doesn't know who Patti LaBelle is needs to throw away their Lady Gag-a CDs and cruise over to the grown-up section of the music store! Plus, it's not like Patti LaBelle was the one who beat him up; although after watching the video it is not impossible to believe that a 67-yr-old black woman could hand him his ass as well!
