Usama bin Laden's Last Will and Testament!

But guys! “It’s more than entertainment. They will return to their bases better airmen, which then will help build a better Air Force.” said Col. David Anderson, director of programs for the Air Force Services Agency.

Guys, think about what you are posting before posting it!

Shit, that's great news! I only wish I was the one responsible...

Don't take this personally, but I don't think a MA in Int'l Relations from OU is going to "wow" anyone more than a degree in a similar field of study from a "diploma factory." Unless you have one in engineering from an Ivy League school, there really isn't that much of a distinction. I've got one from a "brick and mortar" school and another from a virtual one, and in my experience both have garnered the same response from my resume. Obviously there are true "diploma factories" (such as Rushmore University in the Cayman Islands. The state of Oregon has a good list here, scroll down a bit on that page); but too often people think that all online programs are "diploma factories" which couldn't be farther from the truth. If anything, my second grad degree probably has been more beneficial in my post-military career than the first one!

I'm all for a good practical joke, but this is going a bit too far... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCXhmFmOPMM He deserves a good asskicking for that one!

I am trying to put together a list for an acquaintance who is selling their house near Randolph due to a job relocation. They wanted to know if there are any web sites specifically targeting military personnel looking to buy a home. I've heard of Military Homes For Sale and Military By Owner, but after that point I am out of Schlitz. Can anyone suggest any others? By the way, I've got no gouge on this particular home; but if anyone is interested I can get some contact info for ya! Thanks! M2

Great advice that only fails when the power goes out in your house for an extended period of time during a hard freeze. Happened to us in Germany and we not only had numerous pipes explode but the entire heating system was TU'd when we returned. Landlord tried to blame us stating we turned the heat off, but his father (who installed the system) said it has a fail safe that prevented that from happening. He also lived in the same village (the landlord had moved away) and knew about the extended power outage. Landlord had to make extensive repairs on his own pfennig...

I was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea shortly before retiring, and have done the sleep study at WHMC. I tried using a CPAP machine to no avail, the one I had monitored how long I wore the mask and I was removing it in less than an hour. I did try several different masks but none really worked for me. That was over five years ago and I guess I've just learned to live with it. I never really feel rested after a night's sleep, and some days I find it tough to wake up in the morning; but I have found that regular exercise and losing a lot of the weight I gained after retiring (about 30 pounds) made a little difference. I may go back to the sleep clinic one of these days to see if they have any new innovations that I might be able to try, but I am beginning to accept that it's just something that I'll always have to live with. That sucks, but there it is. But it can be as much as a 50% disability rating, depending on the severity. Good luck, I hope you find a solution that works for you! Cheers! M2

A FRED from Kelly was well within the "danger zone" of 3nm of my Toyota this afternoon, where in the fuck was the press on that?!? -
For you fellow Mosinitis sufferers out there... Got a call from a bud of mine saying he knew someone locally who had a 1893 Châtellerault (ШАТЕЛБРО) M91 for sale. Of course I had to check it out, I've got a 1917 Remington and a 1915 NEW, as well as a 1915 Sestroryetsk, so I just had to have Châtellerault! Well, for four bills this is what I got... I've blurred the last two numbers of the serial... I believe this is the infamous Balkan "pinecone"... Obviously it's not the original stock, but for that price it's not expected. And the handguards are loose, but overall I'm just tickled to have finally found one at a reasonable price! Cheers! M2

Just an OPSEC reminder for everyone, do NOT talk about any unclassified but critical information in these kinds of threads. Specific information on future deployment dates, locations, etc is NOT to be posted on this forum; and offenders will not be lightly tolerated. Abide by this rule (as well as the other two) or find yourself benched for a while! And thanks to the 99.9% of you that already know and follow these guidelines, both here and in your squadrons. This is specifically for that 0.1% that still doesn't get it! Cheers! M2

Do what you want, if you want to waste your time and risk your life by giving a verbal warning; feel free to do so. But having trained on and discussed such scenarios with more experts than I care to count, the consensus is that it is a risky and unnecessary tactic; and even worse if you are teaching this to others as you are risking their lives with such a useless technique. And if you also feel that holding the gun closer to your body is a better technique, that's your prerogative as well; but I see it as being wrought with potentially dangerous consequences, one of which is an inability to properly aim the weapon, and don't see any advantages to it. Lastly, if you are indeed providing "realistic scenario-based training" you had better have your shit tighter than a goose's asshole! Otherwise, you're causing more harm than good. It's one thing to teach some basic techniques on firing a weapon, but another entirely to train them on unconventional and even controversial tactics is something entirely different! If you really want to help people, teach them something they can actually use, such as quick target acquisition (too many stand and aim at a target trying to show how well they shoot, instead of practices how well they can hit a human-sized target as quickly as possible), or offhand shooting, or clearing a FTF/FTE quickly or with one hand.
-
If the bad guy is close enough to slap the weapon out of your hands, you've already fucked up! Trying to aim and control recoil while holding a pistol close in is very tough, and I wouldn't use/teach it as a primary technique. Hell, if anything people should learn to shoot offhand, or fast acquisition of a target before practicing that move. Also, why would anyone give a vocal warning? You're not a police officer, and unless the state you reside in requires it (Texas does not), the only (and last) thing a threat in my house is going to hear is my first gunshot! After that, the only thing they'll be doing is bleeding out... Oh, and the correct terminology is that the threat is stopped! A threat being "down" does not necessarily mean it is stopped. The police firearms training I went through a few weeks back now teaches to shoot and keep shooting until such a point that the threat has been negated. Technique only.

WTF? -
I agree, a simple .38 revolver would probably be the best solution if 1) she's OK with having a pistol that has no safety on it around and 2) there are no youngsters that are ever in the place. If there is any chance of the latter, I would strongly recommend (read: insist) that you buy a small pistol safe. You can pick them up for ~$50 at any sports store or even Walmarts here in Texas but being that you are in California I am not sure how readily available they are. She just wants to have a way to lock it up when there are kids there. Another option would be a .357 revolver, such as the Ruger GP100 as you can shoot .38s through it as well as the Magnum rounds. They are not that much more expensive but again I am in Texas where the Second Amendment is not shat upon like it is there. The only issue is that shorter barreled .357s can be handful for someone of a smaller statue… Otherwise, your plan to take her to the range to see what she’s comfortable with is a good one. Cheers! I gotta brag a little, was out at the range last week with a buddy and his wife. She has never shot a handgun before and he asked if I could bring out a few of my pistols for her to try (he just got a S&W Sigma .40, and that the only pistol he had). So I whipped out the GP100 .357 revolver and from about 7 yards, this was my first shot... Obviously they were quite impressed, but I knew it was more luck than anything else. So I took my second shot and... At which point my reputation as an eagle-eyed sharpshooter was solidified! Seriously, the GP100 is a great pistol but I've never been this accurate with it before. Obviously, subsequent shots were not as good; but I had already sent them back to their shooting station so they didn't see those! Cheers! M2

I have, and oddly enough was give your login ID as a nickname after it happened. This was years ago when I was still enlisted (early 80s), and I had a slow-speed crash sliding out in a corner at around 25 MPH. Luckily I had gloves, boots and a helmet, which were a little scuffed but none the worse for wear; but my fatigues and field jacket were thrashed. Don't count on today's uniforms being much better, but nomex at least has abrasion resistance properties plus high break strength and some tear resistance; so you're better off than wearing your basic ABUs. But real riding gear is much better...
