  1. It's just money and cheap advertising, MotoGP is losing a lot of sponsors and hers has some it wants to spend flashing her new perfume or whatever the fuck she's selling. It sucks, but if it keeps the sport alive then so be it...
  2. Agreed, his comment threw me off; but even Paris Hilton having a 125 MotoGP team is mind-boggling! This comment really made me laugh... Still, it's cool, as Michael Jordan owns Michael Jordan Motorsports, which fields teams in the AMA American Superbike series for riders Roger Lee Hayden (Nicky's brother) and Ben Bostrom, so it's not unheard of! Plus, did she buy some tits, or is what little she have stuffed to high heaven? Dude on the right is gettin' an eyeful! Cheers! M2

Naw, I didn't see it; but thanks for the recommendation. I saw where it fell a little short of its expected weekend goal ($47.3M made, hoping for over $50M); but I don't think this is the best time for movies. Still, I want to see it in the theater; and will probably do so next week. I am lucky that I bought the 2-DVD 20th Anniversary box set about a year ago, they are going for $180 new and at least $75 used! Cheers! M2

T-bonez They've gone down to $850 but I am still waiting on actual info regarding the receiver, who built it, how many rounds, etc. before I trek up to north Austin to check it out. I also sent another message to the guy with the 10/63 to see if he's willing to negotiate. I told him I was looking to buy the Khyber Pass one, maybe that'll get his cranium separated from his anal orifice! Cheers! M2

I know this thread is almost a hundred pages long, but there is a lot of good 1911 info contained within it so I would advise going through it first before asking general questions... That said, I have four Springfield 1911s and recommend them; but if this is intended to be a range/carry pistol then I agree with OC in that a polymer semi-auto such as the XD-45 would be a better first choice. They are more reliable and easier to maintain, lighter and have almost double the capacity (13+1 versus 7+1). You can always add a 1911 to the armory down the road... Cheers! M2

  8. KIO, guys, if you want to discuss crosswind procedures or airline hiring policies, start another thread. This one was is to recognize Lowe's heroic actions, and the ongoing debate on the circumstances that led up to the incident are distracting from the recognition he deserves! Keep on topic, please. Thanks! M2

Fack! I am having the worse luck lately! First, I had a great deal on a Navy Arms SKS Sharpshooter for only $225 out in Seguin, but suddenly the seller had another buyer looking at it and it was sold out from under me. Then, I had a line on a Taurus PT738 up in Dallas that the guy only wanted $200 for, but he was hesitant to ship it. I sent him instructions and a copy of my bud's 01 FFL, but someone offered him more money locally and he sold it. Lastly, the guy with the Romy 10/63 is completely ignoring my offer of $450 (which is still probably too high), and doesn't even give me the courtesy of a 'fuck you' reply! There is this nice looking Khyber Pass AK clone with a triangular folding stock and sweet Russian Red furniture up north of Austin... It includes four orange bakelite magazines and a Krebs enhanced safety which allows you to manipulate the safety with your right index finger. The dude wants $900 for it, which isn't a bad deal but more than what I want to spend on an AK right now... Shit, at this rate I'm gonna have to spend my money on Christmas presents! Cheers! M2

It's Texas, by law there will be a Grand Jury investigation and he will almost certainly be awarded a 'no bill;' meaning no charges will be filed. I can't recall an incident where a law-abiding citizen defended themselves with lethal force and were charged because of it. We don't put up with that kind of shit down here! God bless Texas! Cheers! T-bonez Yeah, I know the reputation WASRs have; but I also know a few guys who have had 'em that were good shooters. I may just be enthralled by the Draco, or just any AK in general (they are my latest infatuation); but I thought it would be nice to have one in the collection. I especially like the sidefolder stock, and I have an extra set of handguards I could throw on it as I am not a big fan of the DD forward grip. Also, there is a lot of debate as to whether the 10/63s are any better than the standard WASR 10. Some say yes, others no; and there isn't even consensus as to whether the front trunnion is an improvement. All I know is that it caught my eye, and offered $450 contingent on inspecting the rifle; but I haven't heard back so the entire discussion may be moot; but I have no expectations of it being anywhere close to my Saiga or any of my Yugos, maybe just similar to the Draco. I am not interested in a standard WASR 10, I see 'em at the gun shows all the time and even at under $400 I am not compelled to pick one up; but the real Bulgarian sidefolder (worth about $60, not including installation) and not that crappy TAPCO on, does appeal to me and if the seller ever gets back to me I still may try to talk him down a little further. If he bites, I most likely will snag it... Cheers! M2

I am trying to talk a guy selling this locally down from $500... Obviously, it's a WASR 10/63 with the donkey dong, sidefolding stock and one TAPCO mag. Original stock and lower hand guard included. He's saying <300 rounds down the pipe, sights are straight and the magazine locks up. It is 922r complaint with FCG (TAPCO G2? He didn't say), gas piston, pistol grip and muzzle brake. I might just be overly giddy about Romanians because of my recent acquisition of a Draco; but since I don't see dropping $200 on a tax stamp in the near future to SBR it, I was hoping this would work in the interim. Since it's a 10/63 it should have the beefier front trunnion and be marked with the Cugir Arsenal stamp. Don't know if it has a chrome-lined barrel or not, that'd be nice if it did. So, talk to me, is it worth the asking price or should I hold my ground? Cheers! M2
  16. Appreciate it! Saves me from wasting time and gas driving over to that side of town to find out if they made 'em!
  17. It's been a while, but I think it's Jean's Alternations; a few blocks outside of the main gate on the right going north on Pat Booker at the corner of East Byrd Blvd...
  18. Can anyone over near Randolph verify that the patch shop just outside the gate still carries morale tab patches? I'm looking for a small, subdued Texas flag... Cheers! M2

p.s. An interesting point in the NYPD study came out of FM 23-35 COMBAT TRAINING WITH PISTOLS AND REVOLVERS, which calls for the use of Quick-Fire Point Shooting for combat at less than 15 feet, and when firing at night... I bet the vast majority of people do not practice this technique at the range, and it always amuses me to watch someone be overly amazed at their "marksmanship" skills while taking several minutes to stand, aim and fire their pistols at a non-moving target. This is why I also advocated IPDA and similar opportunities to actually test how well a person shoots "on the fly." It still involves stationary targets, but at least the shooter is doing what they should be in many self-defense situations, which is moving (preferably away from the threat!).

Great review, T-bonez; I've never owned a SIG but most of what I've heard about them has been positive! I have to admit I think I am somewhat spoiled by the XD in that it is nearly a flawless gun in my experience. I've got several thousand rounds down the pipe and I honestly cannot recall ever having any kind of failure whatsoever with it. I consider it the standard for any pistol, which is why I am so apt to recommend it to anyone seeking a handgun for self-defense. Oddly enough, the same 'con' you listed (only having a 8+1 capacity) has always been a concern of mine; but studies by the NYPD and LAPD show that the average number of shots fired by individual officers in an armed confrontation was between two and three rounds. Also, the necessity for rapid reloading to prevent death or serious injury was not a factor in any of the cases examined in the NYPD report; and in close range encounters, under 15 feet, it was never reported as being necessary. Only 6% of the total cases had the officer reported reloading, which involved cases of pursuit, barricaded persons, or other incidents where the action was prolonged and the distance exceeded the 25 foot death zone. As such, I think much of the concern for high capacity is overstated. That said, I still will continue to primarily rely on the 13+1 capacity of my XD45; but it has relieved my need to carry extra magazines in most instances. About the only time I do so is when I am wearing my shoulder rig which makes carrying the extra magazines quite easy (and actually balances out the rig weight somewhat). Cheers! M2

  23. No biggie, and just saw on the local news that he's from this area...a 1984 graduate of Comfort High School, less than an hour from San Antonio, and his wife went to school here in town! Here's their version of the story: S.A. pilot awarded Air Medal for heroics in Denver crash Cheers! M2

  25. First of all, no one gives a shit about what happened in high school; and as long as you took care of your speeding, windshield obstruction and parking tickets, no one cares about them. However, you did fuck up by lying about trying marijuana; and the fact that you panicked about that one question doesn't fare well for you. I concur with your plan on going back to whoever you interviewed with and seeing if you can discuss it with the, you can play it as a "temporary lapse of memory" and hope they don't see you sweating, or you can man up and simply tell them you screwed the pooch on this question and you want to correct your mistake. Honestly, I'd advise the latter and hope for the best. At this point, your one-time experimentation with marijuana is less of an issue than your knowingly lying during the interview (whether you admit to it or not). Despite how well prepared you were, or how well you responded during the interview, all of that is of little value if you failed to be completely honest during it. I am not talking about exaggerating the truth a little, a lot of people do that during an interview; but to blatantly lie about something so minor makes everything you say or did somewhat questionable. However, not fixing that mistake will only make things worse, so get yourself out of this whole before you dig yourself in any deeper! It may be a minor hiccup, or it may be the end of your dream; but either way at least you will have taken responsibility for your actions and that is more important than anything. Additionally, please forgo the emotional blubbering in your posts, we don't need that shit on here! Everybody wants to be a fighter pilot, but you don't have to sound like a 12-yr-old girl describing Justin Bieber when you talk about it. Lastly, go read and commit to memory the Rules of the Forum, as well as the three "Read This" threads at the top of the General Discussion section. To date you posted three times and you've fucked every one of them up...we can't be of any help to you if you get yourself banned, and you are one mistake away from that happening! Cheers! M2
