Don't take this personally, but I don't think a MA in Int'l Relations from OU is going to "wow" anyone more than a degree in a similar field of study from a "diploma factory." Unless you have one in engineering from an Ivy League school, there really isn't that much of a distinction. I've got one from a "brick and mortar" school and another from a virtual one, and in my experience both have garnered the same response from my resume. Obviously there are true "diploma factories" (such as Rushmore University in the Cayman Islands. The state of Oregon has a good list here, scroll down a bit on that page); but too often people think that all online programs are "diploma factories" which couldn't be farther from the truth. If anything, my second grad degree probably has been more beneficial in my post-military career than the first one!
I am trying to put together a list for an acquaintance who is selling their house near Randolph due to a job relocation. They wanted to know if there are any web sites specifically targeting military personnel looking to buy a home. I've heard of Military Homes For Sale and Military By Owner, but after that point I am out of Schlitz. Can anyone suggest any others? By the way, I've got no gouge on this particular home; but if anyone is interested I can get some contact info for ya! Thanks! M2
Great advice that only fails when the power goes out in your house for an extended period of time during a hard freeze. Happened to us in Germany and we not only had numerous pipes explode but the entire heating system was TU'd when we returned. Landlord tried to blame us stating we turned the heat off, but his father (who installed the system) said it has a fail safe that prevented that from happening. He also lived in the same village (the landlord had moved away) and knew about the extended power outage. Landlord had to make extensive repairs on his own pfennig...
I was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea shortly before retiring, and have done the sleep study at WHMC. I tried using a CPAP machine to no avail, the one I had monitored how long I wore the mask and I was removing it in less than an hour. I did try several different masks but none really worked for me. That was over five years ago and I guess I've just learned to live with it. I never really feel rested after a night's sleep, and some days I find it tough to wake up in the morning; but I have found that regular exercise and losing a lot of the weight I gained after retiring (about 30 pounds) made a little difference. I may go back to the sleep clinic one of these days to see if they have any new innovations that I might be able to try, but I am beginning to accept that it's just something that I'll always have to live with. That sucks, but there it is. But it can be as much as a 50% disability rating, depending on the severity. Good luck, I hope you find a solution that works for you! Cheers! M2

For you fellow Mosinitis sufferers out there... Got a call from a bud of mine saying he knew someone locally who had a 1893 Châtellerault (ШАТЕЛБРО) M91 for sale. Of course I had to check it out, I've got a 1917 Remington and a 1915 NEW, as well as a 1915 Sestroryetsk, so I just had to have Châtellerault! Well, for four bills this is what I got... I've blurred the last two numbers of the serial... I believe this is the infamous Balkan "pinecone"... Obviously it's not the original stock, but for that price it's not expected. And the handguards are loose, but overall I'm just tickled to have finally found one at a reasonable price! Cheers! M2
