    New Uniforms

    Yep.
  3. Use the image tags surrounding the URL, such as... [ I M G ] https://www.photobucket.com/image.jpg [ / I M G ] Without the spaces in the tags (I had to use them to keep the software running the forum from thinking I was posting a pic). Of you could click on the photograph icon above the posting area, and simply input the URL there. Either way will result in the picture inserted in the post... And anyone else posting in this thread without including a nice pair (as show above) will be appropriately reprimanded! Cheers! M2
  4. One of the better videos of that crash. It starts about 1:08, and is recapped in slo-mo at 1:38... Cheers! M2

    New Uniforms

In other words, ABUs were designed for folks who sit in offices. Even the Army is moving away from ACUs in theater, now they are issued the new MultiCam uniforms... "The decision to field and develop an alternative camouflage for uniforms in Afghanistan came out of the realization that the Army's current Universal Camouflage Pattern, or UCP, did not meet all of the concealment needs for Afghanistan's multiple regions."* I don't know why the AF doesn't pull its cranium out its ass and just adopt the ACU/MultiCam and put our own patches on it. Some already wear them in theater, this need to have our own "unique" "battle" uniform is just costing the troops a lot of money and embarrassment! But at least it's not as bad as the new Navy Vietnamese special forces uniforms! Sheer brilliance! Design a "camouflage" uniform with bright silver and gold insignia sewn on it! Cheers! M2
  6. Well, the flip side to those kinds of stories is this... Marine gets hero's welcome from thousands in Jacksonville Tyler Southern celebrates 21st birthday with family, and old and new friends More pictures from the above stories I grew up in Jacksonville, a redneck Navy town in NE Florida, after my Dad retired from the Army. I joined the USAF after high school to get away from the place, and honestly have never any desire to move back there; but I have to say I am quite proud of its residents for everything they did for Cpl. Tyler Southern! This doesn't diminish the embarrassment that occurred at Reagan National, the airline should have the authority to remove passengers to make room for such an emergency. Well, that should never have to happen in the first place; but there are still too many Americans that don’t give a rat’s ass about anyone but themselves, or appreciate the sacrifices of others! And if the airline doesn’t want the job of removing people from its planes in such circumstances, I am sure there are many of us who are willing to do it for them! Cheers! M2

We took the GSG-5 out (twice) over the weekend, on Saturday morning we just had too many failures which turned out to be dirty magazines; so I took them apart and went out shooting again Sunday morning. Reliability increased but is still not as good as I want it, so there's more work to be done; but it is a blast to shoot this little .22 carbine and over 200 rounds cost me about $10! And accuracy isn't too bad, considering the barrel is only 16¼" long and the .22 is not known for staying on path in heavy crosswinds. At 25 yards both my son and I were able to keep the groupings within 3-4" with the folding stock and from a standing position. Not sniper accuracy by no means, but figuring it is just so much fun blasting through ammo that it's no huge concern. Overall, despite the FTFs/FTEs the GSG-5 is still a great little shooter! The ammo is dirt cheap, there's little recoil if any, it's fairly accurate within reasonable distances and that damn thing is just awesome looking! I got the top rail and the buffer pad installed on Saturday, as well as the sling I ordered in the mail just for shits & giggles. Once I get a chance to work on it a little more, and fix the feeding/ejecting issues, it's probably going to be one of my most-used rifles for the range! Cheers! M2

So I snagged it this afternoon, it was a little scratched up but otherwise appears to be in good shape although it could use a good cleaning. The guy also threw in a collapsible stock and an extra barrel. It pretty much looks just like this: And most importantly, I ran the serial number via my Droid and it was not subject to the recall! We'll most likely take it out to the range this next weekend. Cheers! M2 p.s. I just remembered the seller also had a scope rail that he is going to give me, but he forgot it at home.

OK, I know this post was from a long time ago but I am going to go look at a Gen II GSG-5 this afternoon and was wondering if anyone had any experience with them. I know about the ATF ruling on the barrel shroud on the SD models, and that the first generation ones had lousy stocks that would break; but from what I understand they are great little rifles. The seller has three mags for it, plus a delrin charging handle buffer and replacement push pins (not installed). It has less than 500 rounds through it and he's asking $350. I sent him the link to see if it was affected by the ATI recall and am waiting to hear back on that. Cheers! M2

7mm punches quite a kick, similar to a 300 Win Mag. You hunting larger game? As otherwise, you may want to consider something smaller, such as a .308 or even a .270. Plus, price 7mm ammo...it ain't cheap! Cheers! M2

Way too much AR talk going on, time to post a pic of some true "assault rifles!" I guess I need to put magazines in them the next time... Cheers! M2

  19. I wouldn't get too excited about JFCOM "going away," because in the long run this will most likely only amount to them no longer being a COCOM and a few of their functions being eliminated. But for the most part, the folks there aren't getting too excited about this impending doom just yet...and just to caveat that, JFCOM controls the program I am currently working on, and was to be the new owner of the organization I work in.

Don't hold your breath, especially with the USPS or ATF; as neither are likely to do anything about it from what I have been told...

I used to believe USPS money orders were the safest way to pay for a firearm bought online, but from what I've learned the Post Office will make zero effort to investigate if the deal goes south. I guess I've just been lucky with the transactions I've been involved with, but there's always a chance of getting ripped off. Sorry to hear it happened to someone on here... On a different note, I picked up the Yugoslav M70B1 (not M70AB1 as I originally thought) parts kit as well as the complete rifle. As you can see in the above pics, the previous owner of the rifle didn't like the unfinished wood so he finished it. Plus, the sling was put on like a Chinese AK, not with a loop on the receiver. The "parts kit" furniture was authentic Yugoslav-issue, complete with markings on the stock. I was dreaming there might be some "trench art" from the Bosnian war, but it wasn't to be; but I preferred the more authentic furniture so I swapped them out. I still need to do the same with the gas tubes, the rifle was practically pristine whereas the parts kit one was heavily fouled. I also need to insert some 1/8" x 1" long strips cut from a Coke can as the handguards are a little loose (as usual). Those will solidify things up quite nicely... Pics inbound, but for now I got a nice M70B2 with authentic furniture on it, and if I sell the remaining parts kit and furniture I could have gotten it for ~$300-350. Cheers! M2

T-bonez Sweet grab, brother! As I've mentioned before, I have a 1954 Colt .357 (pre-Python) that was my Dad's... It is and always will be the most valuable firearm I have if only for that fact. I actually have the original receipt from the lieutenant my Dad bought it from. Switching gears, I am heading out to pick up the M70AB1 Yugo AK parts kit tomorrow; but found a complete rifle for sale nearby and most likely will be grabbing it as well... Life is good! Cheers! M2

Thanks BF, I may just do a screw build as it would be easier and I am just looking to rebuild it back to operational status and it'll have to be 922r compliant anyway... Cheers! M2
