T-bonez It was my first 1911, and half of the reason I bought it was because I had just finished watching Saving Private Ryan (again) and this scene always made a strong impression on me... It is a fun, basic 1911 that pays tribute to the pistol that won WWII. I don't think I'd conceal carry it; but I love shooting it. Sure, my more expensive 1911s are more accurate, but this gun pays homage to the history of the 1911 and that was justification enough for me! Of course, like many firearms, sometimes you can't own just one...here's the family photo I love to show! Cheers! M2

That's Margaret Nolan. It's from the movie "Carry On Girls” (1973), one of a “long-running series of low-budget British comedy films, directed by Gerald Thomas and produced by Peter Rogers. They are an energetic mix of parody, farce, slapstick and double entendres.” It was actually her body painted with gold in the titles and advertisements for the Bond flick Goldfinger

The SC2 is currently the same price, uses two CR123 batteries (so obviously it's longer), and goes up to 220 lumens, but I liked the more compact size of the SC1 better. I just wish I had checked Amazon.com first. I paid $49.95 plus tax for mine, but it’s still worth it!

Funny you should ask! I just picked up an iTP SC1 Eluma this weekend at the gun show.... Very small (uses one CR123 battery), brighter than hell (190 lumens at full strength!) and adjustable settings with a strobe. Obviously, I can't attest to its long-term durability; but it is much brighter than the Surefire 6P I’ve been using and a much cleaner light as well (since it’s an LED). But if it lives up to expectations, it’s one helluva great lashlight! Cheers! M2

The current (and longest-serving) governor of Texas is a former C-130 driver (1972-1977)... He is also very pro-gun, and not only signed Castle Doctrine into law, but also expanded the rights to carry. Y'know who I'm voting for!

Picked this Savage 64FXP .22LR up last night for $100, it's for my 12-yr-old son... For a .22 it is actually quite nice. I looked at several at the gun show yesterday and not only was this a much better price, but it felt more like a "real" rifle in comparison. The scope is a POS Simmons 4x15 and made in China, I plan to replace it with something a little less crappy. Otherwise, I picked up 333 rounds of Winchester .22LR for $9.95 at Walmart (the only box they had) and my son is ecstatic about the rifle. He wanted a BB gun but next expected a real rifle. I figured he is less likely to get in trouble with the .22, as it will be locked up with the rest of my arsenal and he won't have access to it unless I am with him. Cheers! M2

Not military, but nine years as an operations officer at CIA and anyone who's served will usually get my vote over some scumbag lawyer or professional politician... Will Hurd And he's pro-2nd Amendment! Of course, I research all the candidates as I have always taken voting very seriously. If more people did, maybe we wouldn't have this assembly of assclowns in Washington that we have now...

How in the fuck did a thread with the last post dated 31 October 2005 suddenly become a huge pissing contest again? Also, there are posts quoted that no longer exist, so I suspect either a mod or the poster deleted them. Regardless, the discussion may continue on spouses talking shop (yeah, usually it's the wives; but we'll be PC and say "spouses") and the problems it causes; but knock off the personal attacks. This will be the one and only warning, keep this civil as Toro intended when he started this thread nearly five years ago, or the shit will hit the fan.

I prefer a shoulder harness, especially for a heavier pistol like my 1911s; but due to the impracticality of carrying with one during the summer I usually just use a lefthanded IWB at 6 o'clock. I am righthanded, but prefer the grip facing outward at that position...

JarheadBoom Depends, what weapons do you already have, and do you have a carry permit? Excuse me if I should know this, but I am getting old and forgetful! I'd still go for a 1911 over an AR, but it all depends on what you've got! And a separate note... This is why, no matter how hot your girlfriend is, if she's a bimbo then don't give her a full-auto AK... Anyone else instinctively duck? Cheers! M2

Spoo No worries, I was just giving ya some shit for asking T-bonez directly! However, I do agree with his recommendations. The problem isn't finding a good M1911 in that price range, it's picking one! I obviously have a preference for Springfields, but there are many others which I would own as well if I didn't already spend all my money on Soviet milsurp rifles! I'd almost agree with H2 except for his crack about the "plastic girl gun." I still prefer my XD for conceal carry, if only for the slight increase in reliability and lighter weight (mostly the latter). Hacker's another M1911 affectionado, hopefully he'll pipe up with his favorites as well. And I wish I was in your predicament, for me it's more of too many choices and not enough moolah! Have fun! M2

Why ya only asking T-bonez? Upper right-hand corner, a Springfield Loaded Black Stainless with Target Sights... The bottom left is a Lightweight Operator, a very nice 1911 as well!

Reminds me of an episode of the Young Ones, where one copper is telling another he got into a fight with his girlfriend. He said she got mad because he made some crack about the Pope. The other copper tells him he's an idiot, he know's his girlfriend is Catholic; to which the first copper replies, "Yeah, I knew she was Catholic, but I didn't know the Pope was!" Not even close, Steve-o! Been telling the wife for years he was a poof, but she never believed it. She hates it when I'm right!

This is hilarious, my wife is crushed by the news; but I am laughing my ass off! Latin singer Ricky Martin says he is gay What's great for us guys is that when a hot woman announces she's a lesbo, it's totally cool! For example: I don't care if Ellen nailed it before me, I still would!

As an old guy, this is all so sad...mustaches--and especially deployment or March Mustache Madness--were meant to raise morale and honor the tradition of such greats as Robin Olds. Now they are the target of PC'ness and some assclown's career aspirations ("What, you've got pilots running around with mustaches?!? No second star for you!"). It all makes me want to Still, not worth getting your ass wrung through the wringer about. Pick your battles wisely...

Gotta say, you were correct. The wife rented it for me and while I've only watched about 2/3rds of it, so far it has been weak. I'm hoping the last third picks up. Julie Benz is nice to look at but she can't act for shit in this movie. Her accent is horrible and she needs to be wearing less clothes. Didn't she buy herself a rack? Well, then be proud of those puppies and show them off! By the way, The Men Who Stare At Goats wasn't much better. It had a few moments, but for the most part it was only mildly entertaining. Aren't there any good movies out there anymore? I'm hoping Sherlock Holmes will be better...it got a 7.6/10 on IMDB and a 69% on Rotten Tomatoes, and Guy Ritchie directed it, so it's got a chance.

Except it is too fucking short! I've yet to complete a CBT that didn't waste a minimum 30 minutes of my life...

Yeah, WTF? You guys are slipping! This is to get us back on track! Enjoy! Cheers! M2
