Yeah, I would be impressed if the spambots have adapted themselves to that level of sophistication! Or does Steve know something we don't?!? Cheers! M2

Yeah, two snuck through. I deleted the links from both posts, and ddddyyyy and wickedrobert need to be deleted by an Admin. I think the latter is a spammer as well, as if he really had a question about H1N1 masks, he would have not posted it in the 'What Are My Chances?' section. Thanks for catching them and letting us know! Cheers! M2

Brick The best method for shooting a pistol-gripped shottie is to "be pulling the gun apart" approach, i.e. your forward hand on the forend is pulling forward and your back hand is pulling backwards. Hold the weapon up to eye level, that bullshit you see in the movies where people shoot from the hip isn't gonna work in a HD situation. You still have to aim with a shotgun, and a laser and/or light combo isn't a bad idea. I have a 120-lumen SureFire 6P and a rail-mounted laser on mine, the little red dot stands out nicely in the big bright sunshine the SureFire puts out! I will not shit you, shooting a pistol-gripped shotgun is a bitch. I would recommend going to the range and making sure you know what it's like; but it is not anything you want to do a lot of! 10-15 shots at most, otherwise your gonna take a beating! But for a home defense weapon, there isn't a better choice. I load mine up with 3" Magnum 00-buckshot rounds, 'cause if the SOB tries to hide behind my couch or a wall, I still want the ability to redecorate that wall an interesting new color called `hint of brain!'* Cheers! I used to carry a rights advisement card with me when I was on G-series orders. But no, I don't keep a gouge card on the UCMJ; I just knew the more common articles, and looked up the the rest as I needed them. Every officer should have a copy of this, even if they currently a commander... The Military Commander and the Law (3.7 MB) Cheers! M2

Exactly, the only time to be cordial to the cops is when you are guilty of whatever it is they are talking to you about. Otherwise, if you are truly innocent, never, ever let them be insubordinate to you. In case you haven't looked at your LES or shoulders lately, you are a commissioned officer and you have the authority and expectation to stop them from being disrespectful toward you. I don't give a shit if it is the sky cops, some dipshit finance troop or the guy that slaps the scrambled eggs on your plate at the chow hall, the second you allow yourself to be treated this way, you are undermining the authority of all officers. If you can't man up to the unpleasantness of having to deal with situations such as these, then maybe you should consider another line of work. First and foremost, you are a commissioned officer in the United States Air Force, and you are expected to act like one...

BF Thanks, I'd appreciate it! I am only looking for 100-150 rounds of .380, so not all that much. We went to a guns show this morning and they had it, but the cheapest I could find was $33 for a box of 50. That is ridiculous as the one box I have has a price tag of $12 on it. But I did snag three boxes of Independence 9mm for a buddy that was only $20 with tax. That's not too bad. The guy who sold it to me said he is expecting a large shipment of .380 in the near future, and actually told me to hold off on buying any if I could (which I easily can, as I only have the Kel-Tec P3AT that shoots it). This is the same guy I bought a thousand .45 primers from two weeks ago, for a different bud. Overall, there was a fair amount of ammo at the show, it's just the prices are still pretty high (at least for the rarer stuff). I also saw two more Nagant M1895s, on Tula and one Izhevsk; and they wanted $155/each. I wouldn't mind getting a Izhevsk to go with my Tula; but that is too much considering AIMSurplus has Nagants for $79.95! I might just give them a call and see if they'll pull a Izhevsk for me... Cheers! M2

Yeah, I just saw the email notice and went straight to their site only to find they had already sold out of .380! Seriously, it had been 10-15 minutes since I last checked my email, and the shit was sold out already! Still, thanks for letting us know! Cheers! M2

Wow, I missed your reference to Posse Comitatus Act (18 U.S.C. § 1385); which is badly out of place in this discussion as it deals with the use of the military for law enforcement in the United States! Now, if you take a second to read the articles... Try to keep up here, as your interpretation is sadly lagging...

Not clear enough for you? It's not journalistic speculation, it's going on right now.

I wonder how Obama would feel if it was one of his family in the orange jumpsuit... And in case you don't know what happened next, look here, here and here. Or ask the families of Daniel Pearl, Nick Berg and Paul Johnson. It is nice how the administration wants to take away the rights of American citizens, and bestow them on foreigners. p.s. Here (NSFW) is how I think Miranda Rights need to be administered to terrorists!

Good luck with that, that market has dried up as well! Brass is getting expensive, and primers are a bitch to find! At the gun show two weeks ago, my buddy ran up to me because he found a guy selling .45 primers, but only one box per customer. My bud gave me his debit card and I grabbed the last box. The seller told me someone tried to buy the last two boxes, complained because he wouldn't sell him both, so he put both back. My bud and I grabbed the last ones. I am sure the original guy probably realized his stupidity and went back shortly after only to find them gone. So if you plan to reload, I hope you have everything already! Cheers! M2 p.s. T-bonez, have you thought about reloading .455 Webley? I am gonna hang onto my brass just in case, but my reloading buddy just moved to Colorado!

Yes, they have the same car sales in the UK as they have in Germany; just remember that you'll be driving a US-specs car on the opposite side of the road. That said, depending on the shape your Mazda is in, you may want to consider shipping it. It is small enough to fit in, and they sell the 6 there so parts and maintenance shouldn't be a problem. Or, if you can sell it for a decent amount, do so and buy a UK-specs car for your time there. I found driving a righthand-drive car a lot easier in the UK... Cheers! M2

Sounds like another urban myth, but I can't acknowledge/deny any of it as I honestly have not heard that story. O'Grady's departure from active duty was three years after his rescue, and a few years back he completed a master's degree in biblical studies at Dallas Theological Seminary; so I would say he left due to a higher calling...

OK, I am not a cruiser guy; but can you tell me the difference between the two models? They look pretty much the same to me (again, I am not a cruiser guy), but there has to be something to justify the $3100 difference in price! Never mind, my Google-foo skills kicked in and I found this. From the sound of the review, I would go with the M90. The M109 doesn't appear worth the extra $3000 in comparison, you won't feel much difference between a 1500cc V-twin and an 1800cc one if you are jumping over from a Ninja 500. The fact that it weighs roughly 40lbs less than the M109R, which "improves handling and enhances maneuverability," is another benefit. Lastly, according to the review (and Basem Wasef has a good reputation for getting it right), the ergonomics are better on the M90 as well. All that plus that $3000 buys a lot of gear and beer (but not while you're riding!). And, if you are financing, the $3000 turns in to a lot more money once you add interest. Seems like the choice is obvious. Cheers! M2

Gotta toss a plug in for a really excellent licensed dealer and manufacturer, located in Von Ormy, Texas... Dreadnaught Industries They "sell everything from stock factory guns to wild custom creations, from micro-sized .22 pistols to long-range sniper weapon systems. Dreadnaught Industries LLC specializes in cutting-edge hard-use equipment for the serious shootist as well as guns that are just plain fun to take to the range and plink. Everything from folding-stock 20-round 12 gauge auto-loading shotguns to pink rifles, we can build it to your personal specifications." I recently met Alex and Liota and they are great people...gun enthusiasts who are in the business for the love of the sport more than anything else! Plus they are both military, and that's a plus. They are now my preferred FFL despite being nearly 35 miles away from where I live. I find it still worth the time to go through them. Just take a gander at their AR page and I think you'll understand what I am talking about! These folks know their shit! Cheers! M2

T-bonez The price of .455 Webley at Cabela's was no better than the link you posted earlier, so I would advocate just ordering some. I may do that as the two-box limit is a pain and the store is an hour's plus drive away from where I live; so it's not worth a special trip. I keep hearing conflicting reports on .380, some saying production should start up again this month, others that since the demand for 9mm is so strong that the manufacturers are concentrating on that and passing up on .380 this year. Given the military and commercial demand for 9mm, it wouldn't surprise me. This ammo shortage made me happy that I pretty much stuck with one caliber (.45ACP) for the majority of my shooting pistols. Sure, I have a bunch that shoot "odd" calibers (7.62x38R, .455, .380, .357 Magnum, etc.); but my primary shooters are my XD and my four 1911s. I have always been tempted to snag a 9mm or a .40; but it only means buying different ammo. In some ways I wish I would've skipped the Kel-Tec P3AT (.380) and bought a P11 (9mm) instead, but the seller was a bud and I got a good price, so I can't really complain. I just never thought ammo for it would be more expensive than any other gun I have! Cheers! M2

T-bonez Yep, it's the same Hornady as the link you posted earlier. Did you find any? And thank for the link to the 7.62x38R ammo, that's a lot cheaper than what I am finding at the shows, and that's even reloads! Cheers! M2 Oh, and it is a nice coincidence that I got my Webley on the same day that a UK World War I veteran marks 113th birthday! Allingham and 110-year-old Harry Patch are the only two surviving World War I veterans in Britain! Patch is the last surviving soldier to have fought in the trenches of the Great War (Allingham was Royal Navy). Cheers! M2

I'd take the XD over a RI snubby 1911 any day of the week! They aren't bad guns, but they are entry-level pistols and the XD is superior in so many ways. That said, if someone was looking for a basic, inexpensive 1911 I would steer them towards the Rock Island if they weren't kern on the Springfield GI. Just picked up the Webley this morning and it is sweet! I will post more pics up shortly, but Iron Eagle III is on TV and I am already missing too much of it! Rachel McLish is McLish-ish! Definitely had a boob job done but there's nothing wrong with that! And she did get her money's worth! (And there is your tie-in to this thread, as those are some nice guns! ) I also didn't know Fred Thompson was in that movie. Honestly, I am surprised I don't have it on DVD! Cheers! M2

Sorry partner, the only way I send .45 anyone's way is when I shoot it at them; and I don't think that's what you want! But the good news is that ammo is beginning to show up all over the place. It is mainly the common stuff (.45, 9mm), but I am seeing it at shows and from the online vendors. Prices may still be a bit high, but at least there is ammo to be bought! A few months back there wasn't much at any price! I didn't see a XD45 bi-tone on their web site, what'd ya pay? They look like they've got some good prices! Cheers! M2 p.s. I just noticed their prices include shipping, which makes them even better!

Always one of my favorite saves... Max Biaggi might be an asshole (well, he is an asshole), but he sure could ride on occasion! Cheers! M2 p.s. Here it is in slo-mo...

Yeah, I had to chuckle at that one too...but if this thread gets sidetracked (like many others seem to have done lately), I am gonna bitchslap the shit out of some people, and enjoy the hell out of it!
-
I am still waiting for my Webley to get here. Once it does, I will take it and the Nagant M1895 out for a "historical enlightenment"... Otherwise, I am still hoarding the small cache of .45ACP I have. Post some pics of that Remington Rand! Cheers! M2

Listen closely...they are brevity codes! Terms that are easier to use and are universally understood. Why the term 'Fox' is used to indicate simulated/actual launch of air-to-air weapons is not known, as are all the others (e.g. 'Chicks' for friendly aircraft, etc). Same goes with the NATO nomenclatures for Russian/former Soviet Union hardware, i.e. FULCRUM, FLANKER, etc. other than they all began with the letter 'F' and were fighters (as were bombers began with 'B,' cargo aircraft 'C' and helicopter 'H'). Why those specific names were picked is unknown. Don't strain your brain in trying to figure out the logic behind this stuff!
