Many of us stocked up before gun and ammo prices went through the roof! But speaking of which, a buddy sent me this email and link to a shop that is offering pretty good deals! But right now I am on the hunt for ammo (mainly .380) and a Webley (in .455; which when I get one I'll be on the hunt for .455 ammo!). Cheers! M2

But understand that these laws only apply to weapons made in the state, bought in the state, and stay within the state. Otherwise, Federal laws will apply as soon as they cross the state line... But I applaud the states' attempts to pre-empt any ridiculous Federal firearms laws that may be on the horizon. Cheers! M2

On that Duc, it won't take long! Maybe I'm a bit old and busted, but I just couldn't take the Duc's riding position! I love 'em, they are great bikes; but I had to "compromise" and get my Honda... Oh, and it was a retirement gift to myself, not a Lt-mobile! Cheers! M2

Actually, whereas staying on base may be more convenient, I would recommend going offbase as it is much easier/cheaper to walk home from the Gasthaus than it is to get back on base. I've stayed in Landstuhl on numerous occasions and there are plenty of places where you can make reservations in advance and still get a great place!

I was told the 92d Information Warfare Aggressor Squadron (formerly an A-10 TFS at Bentwaters when I was there) here at Lackland is no longer an Aggressor squadron, as someone at Nellis finally smarting up and now it is simply an IWS. I don't know about the 262d Information Warfare Aggressor Squadron, or the two Space Aggressor squadrons (26th or 527th), I thought someone recently posted info about them but I am too lazy to look it up or even care... Cheers! M2

Wow, I looked at a set of MotoGP 'Roo leathers at a local Honda dealership a few years ago, and they were a heckuva lot more expensive than that! I don't need leathers at the moment (the Alpinestars are holding up fine), but if and when I do, I will look into them, thanks! Cheers! M2

I got another reply from a maintainer who was also at the 355th at the time, working QA (Quality Assurance). He pretty much confirmed the first person's account of events and Col Crosby's letter to the editor. I think that about confirms that Lucero was a troublemaker and circumvented the chain of command, and everyone who was there said the story is completely one-sided. Cheers! M2

I agree with IP on litre-classs versus 600cc sportbikes, inasmuch as the smaller bikes are fun as they really require a lot of effort to ride fast, whereas my CBR1000RR is a lot more effortless. But as IP said, the potential to get yourself up to speeds that warrant a possible stay in jail if you get caught is the greatest concern. I can get my CBR up to over 160 MPH in a matter of 15 seconds or so... Cheers! M2

I-Pete I've seen 'Roo leathers before, I believe they are also tougher as well; but the price tag has kept me wearing cow. My Alpinestars are pretty comfortable in most conditions, and during the height of the summer I wear a Camelbak to ensure I don't dehydrate. But no matter how high the temps get, I am not going to risk my hide dragging across the pavement... Cheers! M2

I am getting confirmation from a maintainer who was at the 355th at the same time as Lucero that confirmed the latter was the idiot and "pathological liar" he seems to be. And, as usual, the Air Force Times failed to properly research this story (I know, shocking, isn't it?!?) and that the Colonel involved wrote a rather scathing letter to the editor, it seems to tell the other (truthful) side of the story... Cheers! M2

This story is from January 2008, and is still being discussed ad nauseam on the MilitaryTimes.com forum. (13 pages worth of comments, to include those allegedly from Adam Lucero himself, if you're bothered to read it all). I figure if the guy was correct, we'd see a Hog or two in the ground because of it. As this hasn't been the case, I think he wasn't as right as he thought he was, but that didn't stop him from killing his own career... He's got no one to blame but himself. Cheers! M2

p.s. If you need some help, try digging through this thread...we weren't the first ones to think of this, y'know! Still, there are a few good ones buried in there, such as... And for you computer-savvy types out there, you may want to check the web site where most of the posters are being hosted as they all seem to be from the same source...

OK, it seems that I need to simplify this for a few of you, which should be embarrassing when a caveman has to make it simple enough for some of you to understand! I didn't clear anyone to intentionally start re-posting old posters, what I declared was an end to this mindless jibber-jabber and useless comments-only posts stating a poster was previously posted 15 pages back. So get off your lazy asses and start posting some new material, and if some noob accidentally re-posts a pair of luscious guns on the odd occasion, just enjoy it and STFU! Now, here's a visual to get us all back on track! Cheers! M2

Just keep it to the PMs, and don't post it in this thread...

I think we've clearly established that if anyone ever salutes you, it is proper to return that salute. Even if it is 6-yr-old kid at an air show, some aging WWII veteran at the commissary parking lot, or the civilian Belgian gate guards at a NATO base entrance...you always salute back!

Sorry guys, but BaseOps doesn't want any porn sites named on the forum, hence the '<deleted>' replacements. The rationale is that the the presence of hyperlinks or even just names to such sites could lead search engines such as Google to label BaseOps as a 'bad neighborhood' with irrecoverable ramifications. It makes sense, so we appreciate your understanding and cooperation. And I wasn't actually looking for porn on YouTube, I know there isn't any and that there are much better sites out there! Cheers! According to the Fed... Emphasis mine. It does not address functionality or parts, but it does explicitly state frame or receiver. I was always under the impression it was the receiver that made the distinction; but I would be absolutely, positively sure before I would go any further. Maybe the ATF web site might help. If not there, try the NRA's site. But the big question is, if this happens, is what remains still a firearm? Cheers! M2

Was hunting for porn on YouTube, and stumbled across this. Couldn't embed the video, so here's the link... Funny shit! Cheers! M2

Honestly, who gives a fuck? I think that dumbasses that don't wear gear because of an "image" are God's way of thinning out the herd... And that isn't just the cruiser/Harley crowd, I see the same stupidity with sportbike riders all the time. Our family favorite is seeing some Vanilla Ice-wannabe riding with his Oakleys and backward goober hat with a helmet hanging off of the back of the bike. I guess it is for his imaginary girlfriend... Having unintentionally dragged my sorry ass across pavement on a few occassions, I really don't give a flying fuck what I look like...road rash is a mother! Hell, when I picked up my Repsol just north of Dallas one sunny August day, I was in full black Alpinestar leathers, boots and gloves with a full-face Arai when temps were in the triple digits. Everytime I stopped for gas on my 300+ mile journey home, I downed a huge bottle of Gatorade and it wasn't until after the trip that I noticed I hadn't pissed once the entire way! There are enough ways to kill yourself on a motorcycle, at least you can eliminate a few of them by wearing the right gear! Cheers! M2

Doesn't Canada have insurance? Shouldn't we file a claim? It has to be their fault, our Raptor pilots don't make mistakes! Oh, and rookie mistake, Champ! Do a little research next time, OK? Cheers! M2

Unless, of course, he bought an enlisted mess dress, which doesn't have the loops for the shoulder boards! And, just to save you some money for when you pin on 1st Lt, go buy some Testor silver model paint! Cheers! M2

Nope, that's me on the right. I've always looked young for my age (still do); and even way back then, I was kicking ass and taking names! Cheers! M2
