That's what I was paying when I was stocking up on the 100-round boxes of WWB, but I haven't seen any at WalMart for months. Glad to hear it is coming back... I might go shoot the Webley and Nagant Friday morning, I will let y'all know how it goes if I do. Cheers! M2
  2. According to CNN, Fehrenbach's "board" met yesterday to determine his fate. Any word on the results?

Hell T-bonez, you've got me concerned about 922r! From what I've been reading here both the detachable magazine and pistol grip may be violations! I guess having it noted on the bill of sale that the seller believes the weapon to be 922r compliant won't cover my ass, I may have to get an ATF determination. I thought with all the US-made TAPCO parts on it, it would be complaint. Oh, and no bayonet or original furniture as far as I know, he would've mentioned it if either was included. I am not too worried about maintaining the C&R status, I just want to stay legal and out of the sights of the ATF. I need a beer...

Cragspider pretty much answered it, and if I may add Texas Castle Doctrine--which went into effect on 1 September 2007--allows anyone who is eligible to conceal carry in their home, vehicle or business without a license (or any route directly between those places, so you can carry from your house to your car and back). The old "traveling" requirement, a source of a lot of confusion and interpretation, no longer applies. As long as a person is eligible (basically a non-felon and someone who is not in the act of breaking the law). Just remember that if asked for ID from any LEO while carrying you must produce your conceal carry license with your other photo ID. This is not a requirement if you are unarmed. Now, the biggest unanswered question is what an unlicensed person who is legally conceal carrying in their vehicle should do, I would recommend informing the police officer that you have a concealed weapon in that case; but I don't know what the law states as it does not apply to yours truly. Welcome to Texas (even though it is Del Rio), a very gun-friendly state! And let me know if you need any information on San Antonio, as you will likely make a few trips here during your stay in Del Rio! Cheers! M2

OK, need some inputs here. Got this deal lined up...a Yugo SKS with a 30rd magazine, a "sporting scope," what looks like a Tapco stock and a plastic case for $300... I don't know how many rounds have been through it, and I've not yet seen it in person (just this pic). The guy is including the original bolt cover (without weaver rail), and the plus side is that it eats 7.62x39, which I have a few rounds stashed away. The downside is....hell, I can't think of a downside other than possibly paying too much for it! I've always wanted a bubba SKS, and prefer the "evil black commie rifle" look (it'll match my Yugo M70AB2 quite nicely); but I know SKS used to go for $150-200 pre-Obama paranoia. Checking out GunBroker.com, it seems like a good price. So, anyone SKS experts out there willing to give an opinion? Cheers! M2 p.s. I should add I am not a huge fan of the Dragunov-style stocks, but I know some people prefer them over the Tapco types as this one has.
  8. Well, I guess that confirms the Army's standards; there is a 2LT Adam Lucero in the Alaska Army National Guard 207th Infantry Group according to AKO... Anyone know if there are any aviation units assigned to the 207th?
  9. Now I know you are full of shit! No one who is denied reenlistment would be allowed to be commissioned. And, just to confirm, there is no 'Adam Lucero' listed in the AF White Pages. Welcome to your first warning, your posts will be moderated indefinitely from this point forward until you quit posting bullshit like this, or you are banned. Your future is up to you...
  10. I strongly suspect so, as from what I have heard he is exactly the kind of self-centered assclown who Googles his name and signs up to a forum to claim his righteousness despite the overwhelming evidence against him. And that response (his first post) seems overly canned, like he's used it numerous times before. But, being the fair and balanced individual I am, I will give "AV8TR" a chance to provide some substantial information to back up his claims (FMC rates to 20%? It will have been documented); otherwise, his days on here will be very numbered...

Still haven't shot it, but I snagged another four boxes of Webley .455 this afternoon after we were visiting Gruene (Cabela's in Buda is about a half hour north of there). There was no specific limitation on ammo, just a sign stating that the store had a right to do so. I had the wife with me just in case they had their two-box limit going, and she wasn't needed. Now I need to get out and shoot the freaking thing! Cheers! M2
  12. Question. Has vehicle theft on Ramstein gotten so bad that this has become an issue? We were stationed there for four years (it remains my favorite assignment) and I don't recall ever hearing about a car being stolen on base (or offbase for that matter, as far as I can remember). I can understand these kind of actions to address a problem, but if there is no problem then what is the point? Has ever other critical issue on the list been addressed and everything running so smoothly that the ABW/CC can now focus on the unimportant shit? Wow, that's impressive! Cheers! M2
  13. WTF, is Doc back? Combat Car?
  14. Same here, but the doors are locked...in the garage! The windows are rolled down though! So, fess up, what base is this bullshit happening at? Cheers! M2

  16. Couldn't have said it better myself! And her stupidity is further apparant by her not realizing that General Walsh was being respectful toward her (but probably only out of an obligation to do so). Inasmuch as I hate the media (today's sensationalized story about Continental Flt 61 is a great example), I am grateful when it makes the public aware of the idiots we elect to represent us! I would guess she is used to being called much worse things... Cheers! M2

    Spammers

Yeah, two snuck through. I deleted the links from both posts, and ddddyyyy and wickedrobert need to be deleted by an Admin. I think the latter is a spammer as well, as if he really had a question about H1N1 masks, he would have not posted it in the 'What Are My Chances?' section. Thanks for catching them and letting us know! Cheers! M2

Brick The best method for shooting a pistol-gripped shottie is to "be pulling the gun apart" approach, i.e. your forward hand on the forend is pulling forward and your back hand is pulling backwards. Hold the weapon up to eye level, that bullshit you see in the movies where people shoot from the hip isn't gonna work in a HD situation. You still have to aim with a shotgun, and a laser and/or light combo isn't a bad idea. I have a 120-lumen SureFire 6P and a rail-mounted laser on mine, the little red dot stands out nicely in the big bright sunshine the SureFire puts out! I will not shit you, shooting a pistol-gripped shotgun is a bitch. I would recommend going to the range and making sure you know what it's like; but it is not anything you want to do a lot of! 10-15 shots at most, otherwise your gonna take a beating! But for a home defense weapon, there isn't a better choice. I load mine up with 3" Magnum 00-buckshot rounds, 'cause if the SOB tries to hide behind my couch or a wall, I still want the ability to redecorate that wall an interesting new color called `hint of brain!'* Cheers! M2 * - Bonus points to whoever can source that quote, and don't cheat by using Google p.s. Some video examples... The RIGHT way The WRONG way
  21. I used to carry a rights advisement card with me when I was on G-series orders. But no, I don't keep a gouge card on the UCMJ; I just knew the more common articles, and looked up the the rest as I needed them. Every officer should have a copy of this, even if they currently a commander... The Military Commander and the Law (3.7 MB) Cheers! M2
  22. Exactly, the only time to be cordial to the cops is when you are guilty of whatever it is they are talking to you about. Otherwise, if you are truly innocent, never, ever let them be insubordinate to you. In case you haven't looked at your LES or shoulders lately, you are a commissioned officer and you have the authority and expectation to stop them from being disrespectful toward you. I don't give a shit if it is the sky cops, some dipshit finance troop or the guy that slaps the scrambled eggs on your plate at the chow hall, the second you allow yourself to be treated this way, you are undermining the authority of all officers. If you can't man up to the unpleasantness of having to deal with situations such as these, then maybe you should consider another line of work. First and foremost, you are a commissioned officer in the United States Air Force, and you are expected to act like one...

BF Thanks, I'd appreciate it! I am only looking for 100-150 rounds of .380, so not all that much. We went to a guns show this morning and they had it, but the cheapest I could find was $33 for a box of 50. That is ridiculous as the one box I have has a price tag of $12 on it. But I did snag three boxes of Independence 9mm for a buddy that was only $20 with tax. That's not too bad. The guy who sold it to me said he is expecting a large shipment of .380 in the near future, and actually told me to hold off on buying any if I could (which I easily can, as I only have the Kel-Tec P3AT that shoots it). This is the same guy I bought a thousand .45 primers from two weeks ago, for a different bud. Overall, there was a fair amount of ammo at the show, it's just the prices are still pretty high (at least for the rarer stuff). I also saw two more Nagant M1895s, on Tula and one Izhevsk; and they wanted $155/each. I wouldn't mind getting a Izhevsk to go with my Tula; but that is too much considering AIMSurplus has Nagants for $79.95! I might just give them a call and see if they'll pull a Izhevsk for me... Cheers! M2

Yeah, I just saw the email notice and went straight to their site only to find they had already sold out of .380! Seriously, it had been 10-15 minutes since I last checked my email, and the shit was sold out already! Still, thanks for letting us know! Cheers! M2
