23,000 short... 23,000 Airmen and Guardians Unvaccinated as Deadline for Guard and Reserve Passes

Honestly Brick, what good would that do? The Alliance is simply that, a bunch of countries banding together against a common enemy. Do you really think that enemy has gone away? It not only hasn't, but it's gotten worse. Now, what NATO actually does to counter Russian/Putin aggression in the region has yet to be seen. So far it's been a useless war of words (typical NATO). Will the Alliance go to war over Ukraine? Doubtful, no one has a stomach for it anymore; and we know who we can blame for that! You can't make fun of NATO without blaming the US. It's really our "gang" and we have run it for over seven decades. Its failures are our failures.

https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/43357/t-38-jets-in-recent-fatal-crash-were-executing-a-formation-approach-report "Two T-38 Talon jet trainers that were involved in a fatal accident last month at Laughlin Air Force Base in Texas were performing a formation approach at the time, according to a report from the San Antonio Express-News newspaper. The Air Force has also now confirmed to The War Zone that Colonel Nathan Thompson, the second in command of the 47th Flying Training Wing, the main unit at Laughlin, was in one of the jets at the time. T-38 pilots assigned to Air Education and Training Command units, such as the 47th, have been banned from conducting formation landings, a similar maneuver, in virtually all situations in the wake of a different deadly mishap two years ago."

Commanders are dropping like flies this year
M2 replied to MDDieselPilot's topic in General Discussion
As usual, none of the juicy details are included; which is why we continue to have such issues... Honestly, if it's been proven he's done something wrong, then make it known. Quit hiding behind catch phrases. -
WTF? So you'd shoot someone defending themselves? If so, who do you think would be the next person dropped? If you don't instantly know, go look in a mirror. Or, if you were so lucky to survive shooting someone for no reason, how would you justify shooting someone who wasn't posing a lethal threat towards you? If you really thought "you'd be next," you have exceptionally poor SA or a clear issue of poor decision-making. It's clear as to why those who got shot, got shot. I honestly hope you aren't allowed to carry a firearm!

A guy I work with (a retired USN helo driver) had the same happen to him. Inadvertently left a LCP in his luggage and TSA shit themselves over it. Eventually it came down to paying a fine but no record, ban list, etc. I get TSA's weekly report which includes such incidents. I estimate about 95% it is accidental with no nefarious intent. It's ridiculous that such a big deal is made out of it, but that's TSA in a nutshell, isn't it? A bunch of show but no real deterrence. I am always amused when I get travel advice from their "experts" who don't look like they've roamed more than 150 miles from where they grew up. Sorry to hear your wife had to go through such an ordeal!

I hate those things, and they are marginally effective unless the walls of the briefing room are shielded/tempested. However, a design like this would work better than the ones I usually see (small lockers) if it had individual doors... https://www.amazon.com/Lzttyee-Wall-Mounted-Aluminum-Security-Classroom/dp/B07S819DGM?th=1

It was simply about occupation. As longer we sat there, the longer the Taliban insurgency was kept somewhat in check. We were never going to change the inevitable, I am pretty sure everyone realized Afghanistan wasn't "a problem to be solved but a fact to be endured." It wasn't an unexpected ending. Just ask the Soviet Union...but look what happened to them shortly after they left!

Yep, he was being treated for multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer that prohibits the body’s ability to fight infections. He had a history of prostate cancer as well. It's also alleged he was suffering from Parkinson's disease. By the way, people still die from the flu despite being vaccinated for it. CDC studies show flu shots reduce the risk of illness by between 40% and 60% among the overall population during seasons when most circulating flu viruses are well-matched to those used to make flu vaccines. Even the CDC admits some people who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will still get sick because no vaccine is 100% effective. But as we know in Powell's case, he had comorbidity issues...
