Gun Talk
Nice one, busdriver, I am sure no one here will be too shocked to learn I have one just like it! I actually made a nice little acquisition last Friday, a 1952 Stevens 87B that I scored for ninety bucks! It wasn't in great shape but it cleaned up well, I spent some time with some lemon oil on the stock and got all of the paint spots off it. Someone carved the initials 'JMB' on both sides of the stock. That adds to its personality even more! I hoped to shoot it this past weekend, but the weather decided differently. I can't wait to shoot this old "clickety-clack" (so named because of the sound the action makes when shooting it)! Here are some of the seller's pics, it looks a lot nicer now... The oddest thing (besides the gills on the left side) is that the bolt stays open after you fire a shot, and it doesn't chamber the next round until you release the trigger!

Latest JQP post. AF digging deeper for bodies for deployment.
Don't assume anything. Since no one has officially complained (other than 17D_guy's comment in this thread), we mods/admins aren't going to do anything unless we see it becoming a problem. But in all fairness, I hope we don't see a new thread every time JQP posts another article. If that becomes the case, then maybe we'll see about setting up a sub-forum to discuss his observations. In the meantime, as it hasn't hit the threshold, no harm no foul...

AF Religion Guidelines
As far as I have read, there are only three Sikhs in the US Army who have gotten waivers. MAJ Kamaljeet S. Kalsi (center), a doctor; CPT Tejdeep Singh Rattan (left), a dentist and CPL Simran Preet Singh Lamba (right) a combat medic. The latter has a master’s degree in engineering, but since he wasn't a US citizen at the time he could only enlist. I can't find any instances of Sikhs in the USAF who have gotten waivers for their turbans and beards. According to the article from which the above picture came from, there aren't any, nor are there any in the Navy or Marine Corps.

I watched Ex Machina on a flight back over the Atlantic on Tuesday and I have to say, I was seriously impressed! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyKqHOgMi4g If you loved Blade Runner you really should see this. Not only are the cinematography and special effects outstanding, the plot is excellent as well! Cheers! M2- WTF? (**NSFW**)

Nice, post up a range report (and pics) once you've gotten a chance to shoot it!- Gun Talk
Yes, it means those with a TX CHL will be able to conceal carry on campus as long as a 30.06 (concealed carry prohibited) sign is present on private schools. Note this applies to everyone...students, faculty, other employees... It becoming law has driven the liberals here (Moms Demand Action, McRaven, etc.) nuts, so pretty much it's a two-fer! No kidding, they actually contend this right implies that there will be some sort of intimidation for professors not to give bad grades for fear that an armed student may draw their weapon. What they fail to recognize is that seven other states already allow concealed carry on campuses (11 others besides Texas are considering it, but so far only the Lone Star State has passed a bill on it. Another 23 leave campus-carry decisions to college officials or their state boards of regents), and there has been zero recorded instances of that happening! Mind you, I always thought theories had to be supported by documented research; but I guess in this case unsubstantiated rhetoric is OK... Speaking of which, this is my source of information: Gun rights advocates' push for campus-carry measures like Texas' is slow going. Personally, I am more excited about open carry!- Gun Talk
No experience with that particular model, but it is a Springfield XD so I would have no hesitation in getting it. And that's a pretty good price as well...- WTF? (**NSFW**)

Mejor que nada, my friend (and no, that's not the name of a passed over O-4). I get what you're saying, but if you've been following the ass pain involved in just getting to this point you will understand why we consider this a victory. It's not the war, but at least it's one battle closer to where we want to be. And if you've been tracking Texas politics, you will see how blue this state is getting. And some liberal police chiefs (led by that asshole up in Austin running that department) tried to get the whole thing crushed. I agree that the Dutton-Huffines amendment would have made for a better law, but given that the options were to either drop it or lose the entire bill, I think the right decision was made...- Gun Talk
It's a step in the right direction, and one that is long overdue. And to be honest, I don't see the police harassing individuals for OC'ing because it will result in civil lawsuits. But I agree, the state is not as gun-friendly as most people think; but with the passage of this bill and (hopefully) campus carry, it is getting better...- Gun Talk
Just to caveat, I ain't a lawyer... From what I have read, reciprocity will apply to open carry; so if you have a concealed permit from one of the 40 states that Texas recognizes it will allow you to open carry here once it becomes legal!- Gun Talk
On 1 January 2016, individuals with a CHL will be able to legally open carry in Texas...- WTF? (**NSFW**)
