  1. As for grad degrees, yes I do believe they are important and yes I do believe that for the most part they help make people better (read: smarter) leaders. Just because some folks don't take advantage of opportunity doesn't mean the program is a bad idea. Education in any form is an investment that always pays off. This cutting of TA is exactly what it appears, an attempt to inflict some pain and suffering within the workforce. We all know there are numerous other programs where monies could be cut with less effect, but the leadership needs something that's going to motivate people to complain. I think it's a poor tactic but that's how the game is being played currently. This forced budget situation is not going to solve any problems, nor are responses such as cutting TA; what is needed is a more and better thought-out plan on how to reduce spending over the long term. We all know it can be done without sacrificing necessary programs such as TA, but if someone actually worked within the intent and did reduce wasteful spending that didn't result in any impact on the mission then it would only lead to calls for more cuts...

Sorry pal, but I too think you are off the mark on this one. I have an autistic son, does that mean the government has a right to determine if I should be able to possess firearms? No. Plus, such measures rarely stop intended individuals from carrying out their deeds. Like most firearms legislation, it only hampers the law-abiding citizen, a fact that liberals conveniently and continually seem to ignore. I was just having this discussion with a cop buddy last night (well, after we got done talking about his new duty S&W M&P .40). He isn't a "gun guy," other than his duty weapon he has a small Glock for home defense but he (and every other LEO I know in this great state) is adamantly in favor of armed, law-abiding citizens. He likes the fact that there are individuals like myself who are probably more proficient and train more than he does also out on the street willing to help intervene to save the lives of others. It helps keep society even safer. No, registration and confiscation are the actions of the Nazis, Soviets and other suppressed societies; there are some risks involved in living in a free and armed society and given that the benefits are far greater I (and most people) am willing to accept them for a better life for all. As I always say, the answer is not less guns but more. If that were the case in Colorado, Connecticut and other areas where these mass shootings occur, there would at least be a deterrent to them. Disarming people is not going to prevent such tragedies from happening, it will only up the body count...

Well, Bloomberg can't even get his soda ban past the judicial muster, which probably causes more deaths than guns in NY anyway (58% adults in NYC and nearly 40% of public-school students in eighth grade or below are obese or overweight, and more than 5,000 New Yorkers die from it every year. There were only 237 gun-related homicides in the city in 2012), so perhaps common sense just may prevail after all... Cheers! M2
  6. Now confirmed. RIP.

Yep, as long as the firearms were for himself, there's nothing illegal about it under Federal law (and Arizona as far as I know). He's an idiot though. This proves nothing...law-abiding citizens are allowed purchase firearms in free states. It would have been a good case if he wasn't eligible, but passing a background check should enable him to purchase firearms! Hell, he could have asked me; I would have told him that. And he's full of shit about this stunt as well. I'm glad he's being publicly embarrassed about it. Just shows you how ridiculous the liberal anti-gun efforts will go to make-up bullshit to defend themselves...
  9. WTF? Were things so bad in Soviet Russia that Afghanistan was a better alternative?!?
  10. Fuck yeah! Don't mess with Texas! This is our governor! This is our Attorney General... And this is one of our best senators educating the idiots in Washington about their ridiculous proposed bans... "It's a Texas thing. I can explain it to you. I can't understand it for you." - Texas Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson, March 2, 2013

  12. Nevermind, they just reported that the C-21 isn't the aircraft in trouble; it just happens to be doing training in the area. Since it is doing approaches with its gear down, then climbs out, the geniuses at CNN & FOX though that was an indication of a gear problem. The plane with issues is civilian...
  13. Think so, they're doing a poor job of reporting but the plane being shown is a C-21. I'll merge the two threads. Cheers! M2

  16. Lot of bullshit in that article, which is not surprising given the source. Here's the real story... https://www.lumberton.k12.tx.us/education/components/whatsnew/default.php?sectiondetailid=10420&viewType=detail&id=1500

Probably should go in the thread, but since there's a gun involved (look closely, you'll see it), I'm gonna let these stay here..
  18. If you're looking for Rain, he hasn't been on here since 16 December 2012. Don't know what he's been up to, but if it's urgent then PM me with the info and I will pass it on to him. By the way, some funny shit tags you put in this thread!

  21. You don't have a fucking clue. Do you even have a clearance beyond a collateral? I do, and have probably longer than you've been alive. There was justification for pulling her promotion, despite your "opinion" on the matter. Try talking less and listening more, it will serve you better in the future.
  22. Doesn't matter, classified information is classified information. Just because it hasn't be reviewed or it shows up on Wikileaks doesn't mean the handling requirements change. If she has a clearance and access then she knows how classified material must be protected, if she was ignorant of the classification guidance than it's her own damn fault. Sorry, her tits and/or vag aren't going to get her a free pass every time...
