The easiest place to find the correct info is Wikipedia (while not an acceptable reference, it does source its information). This hit the gun forums multiple times about 2-3 weeks ago, and if you watch the video you will see it's from shortly after the shooting. Later releases corrected the initial claim that he only had handguns. Don't worry about it, it's caused a lot of confusion as the story gets regurgitated. Cheers! M2

They are using an old video from shortly after the shooting, when there was still confusion over what weapons were used at Sandy Hook. HIs primary weapon was a Bushmaster XM-15, as the coroner's report indicated that most of the fatalities were caused by .223 ammunition (sans the shooter's self-inflicted fatal shot). In addition to the Bushmaster, the asshole had a 10mm Glock 20 SF and a 9mm SIG Sauer, as well as a shotgun in his vehicle that was not used. No idea which pistol was used to end his own life, I only wish he had done so first. It's been discussed ad nauseam on gun forums...

Mainly because our Canadian liaison officer, who was a good friend of mine and a shooting buddy, was the one who initially told me about it! Just a sign of superior intellect, nothing to be jealous of!

It was all over most major firearms forums that I don't frequent! He built some excellent rifles, but to lose your life because you weren't wearing a seatbelt is a waste...

I have had the PT709 Slim and am was very impressed by it. It is was the same size as my XD-S, holds held 7+1 rounds, and has had the "Strike Two" capability (essentially an automatic DA re-strike) in that if for some reason the first pull of the trigger doesn't ignite the round (usually because of a hard primer), all you have to do is pull the trigger again (Taurus claims there is a 93% change the round will fire on the second strike) It also has had a slide lock, which many gun newbies prefer (I don't) and a very short trigger reset which I do like (and wish my XD pistols were the same). Recoil is was very managable and no more snappy than my no longer around PT111 Mil-Pro which is was bigger and heavier. But the two best things about Taurus pistols is that they are inexpensive (the Slim can still be found for around $350), all of mine have been were 100% reliable, and they warranty the gun for life no matter if you're the original owner or the seventh owner. The PT111 I got in a swap had a bent lip on one of the mags, I contacted Taurus CS and was sent a form to return it. About a week later, I got a new mag in the mail which has since been lost to the ages. If I weren't such a big .45ACP fanboy or was on a budget, I would have no problems carrying any of my former Taurus pistols (I also have a PT739 TCP) as a primary self-defense weapon if I still had them. I simply prefered the larger round for increased wounding effectiveness and the recoil characteristic of "pushing" more than "snapping" up until such time as every single gun I owned, plus all the ammo I had stored up, fell overboard in the Gulf of Mexico thanks to a freak seagull attack on our boat! Cheers! M2

Welcome to three years ago... I remember seeing that movie, it was pretty funny... And now he's claiming he was the victim of a hoax ("catfishing"). What a douchebag.

Anyone know of a place in San Antonio that does repairs? There's someone looking to have the cuffs replaced on their jacket, and I honestly have never needed that done. Cheers! M2

Wait, that's right, it's "for the children!" Anyone can see this is just more eyewash from Obama. Much like his "stimulus" program, a lot of money will be flushed down the toilet and nothing will be gained from it. He passed the buck on to Congress because he knows he can blame them later if they don't support his proposals. And having those kids around him during the speech, it's sad that he still continues to use such antics to preserve his own image. At least Biden knows everything thinks he's an asshole, Obama still believes people think he's the second coming of Christ!

$500M from a goverment on the brink of financial collapse. It's almost laughable.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miSjgv1MH7s It's as hypocritical as Obama claiming that guns make us less safe, yet he is surrounded by armed Secret Service agents 24/7.

While not a cop, I do volunteer with the local police department and have ridden along with several departments in the area; and I will tell you that the distinction isn't whether the public faces the same threat as the police (they do), it's a matter of how often. I may not encounter criminals on a regular basis as police do, but the opportunity to do so is the same for everyone and that in and of itself is sufficient justification as to why I should be allowed to protect myself. There should be no limitations whatsoever on the rights of law-abiding citizens to defend themselves. Not only are restrictions such as the ones passed in New York illegal according to the Second Amendment (the SCOTUS will most likely overturn them eventually, as was done in the District of Columbia), other laws that greatly restrict the ownership and use of full-automatic weapons should be overturned as well. Inanimate objects should not be held accountable for the illegal action of a few, hold the individual responsible as it should be! Probably surprisingly to you, nsplayr; but most law enforcement officers not only support armed law-abiding citizens, they encourage it! I know what the average 911 response time is in this city, and even cops understand the old adage "when seconds count, the police are only minutes away!" Pretty much all officers I know, from municipal level up to Federal, understand the inherent right of self-defense and defense of others and property.

Typical New York, the same state that blames all its crime on its neighboring states... Right now I am trying to find out if a recent extension in the Law Enforcement Officer Safety Act of 2004 to include military police will apply to me, as I was a SP augmentee back in my early enlisted days. In a nutshell... LEOSA, also known as H.R. 218, allows current and former LEOs to carry concealed firearms throughout the United States, regardless of individual State concealed carry laws. Obviously, since this is a recent change, it will take the DoD a while to catch up. It will have to issue some type of credential to qualifying individuals. Once the applicable regulation, DoDI 5525.12, Implementation of the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act of 2004, is updated to reflect these changes, I'll know if my credentials will allow me to qualify. If it did, that would kick ass as I could conceal carry in NY regardless of their silly laws! Cheers! M2

Just the pathetic response I expected out of the current administration. I don't care how you justify it to yourself to support that party, nsplayr; but I have zero respect for anyone who so blatantly feels they can bypass the legislative process and wipe their ass with the freedoms of the citizens of this country, as well as anyone who supports or even worse, defends them.

For the Kalashnikov enthusiasts on here, the wife dragged me out grocery shopping and as usual I went wandering around on my own. But I'm glad I went, as I saw this one the magazine rack... According to Harris Publishing's Facebook page, it shouldn't be out until 22 January; but I snagged two copies (one for home, one for the office!). Cheers! M2

That "lady" is Suzanna Hupp, the one person those of us who have concealed carry licenses from the state of Texas can thank for that privilege! She was a Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives from 1997-2007 (she did not seek a sixth term in 2006). We have several politicians like her, our current Attorney General Greg Abbott is one. Many of us are hoping he will be our next governor if Rick Perry doesn't seek a fourth term!

nsplayr, you're weak exit is typical Cartman-esque liberal Democrat, if the other side doesn't capitulate to your line of logic, you're going home. Way to show your ass! Maybe if Obama/Biden were actually sincere in wanting frank discussions on the gun issue (which isn't really the issue here, but they fail to grasp that because it's more about their image than what they do) then they'd have honest and open talks with the NRA and pro-2A organizations. But Biden pulling this "EO card" today shows what a bunch of fucking hypocrites they really are. Why even mention it if they haven't made a decision yet? Do they honestly think we're that stupid, or do they just think they're that smart?!? Sorry, but none of your drawn-out bullshit posts can defend what the current administration and other liberal shitbags like Feinstein and Pelosi are doing. Hopefully it will blow back in their faces with full ferocity. Anyone who ever swore an oath to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States, from all enemies, foreign and domestic" (you do remember your oath, don't you?!?) should be outraged at how the current president wants to wipe his ass with the Constitution. I can't believe you even defend that for whatever reason. It's pathetic.

Well written in some regards, but off the mark on a quite a few others... For one, claiming that "Most guns kept in the home will never be used for self-defense. They are, in fact, more likely to be used by an unstable person to threaten family members or to commit suicide" is bullshit. Where is he getting these "facts?!?" He fails to source his claim, probably because he has no data to support it. Secondly, "Ordinary altercations can become needlessly deadly in the presence of a weapon" is bullshit as well. There is plenty of evidence to the contrary, and the same baseless arguments were used when states were considering issuing concealed carry permits. States that have allowed concealed carry have reported NO increase in gun-related crimes; in reality it has led to even lower crime rates. Again, another unsubstantiated claim. Thirdly, he fails to address the number of instances where an armed citizen thwarted a criminal act such as the Colorado mall shooting. He also fails to address the fact that many of these mass shooters commit suicide at the first sign of armed resistance (in Sandy Hook it was when he heard the police sirens). Fourthly, like many journalists, he erroneously uses the term "gun show loophole," which in reality does not exist. Many states allow private sales of firearms without going through a FFL. Licensed dealers must complete a 4473 on every sale be it at a gun show, a store or via the Internet. That is not required by many states for an exchange between two individuals, whether it is at a gun show or in someone's garage. There are no different restrictions based on location, just who is involved in the transaction. I expect someone who is trying to write intelligently on a subject do some basic research beforehand. Lastly, the author acts as if everyone carrying weapons are "legions of untrained, delusional vigilantes producing their weapons at a pin drop and firing indiscriminately into a crowd." I complete more training in a year than most of the patrol officers in this city. He minimizes the deterrence the possibility of an armed defender has on some criminals, which has been the driving point for 44 states to allow some sort of open carry.

Yet more evidence that the current president thinks he can bypass the legislative process and dictate whatever he wants!

The last suicide in the USAF was a hanging, are they going to ask about rope? Numerous overdoses have occurred, are they going to ask about medications? Alcohol tends to fuel feelings of desperation and clouds judgment, will they remove all the booze from the individual's dwelling? It's a slippery slope, and because it is focused on firearms and firearms alone, and that is not right. And I think you need to read Feinstein's proposal before you claim they aren't going after everyone's guns...
