ANG/AFRC Pilot Bonus
JarheadBoom replied to Nineline's topic in Air National Guard / Air Force Reserves
Hell, last I heard even December is iffy. We lost our AFTPs and remaining RPA money this past September. AFRC called the DO Friday afternoon before the Sept. UTA (actually, during the pre-UTA meeting...) and told him to lock up the AFTP books Monday morning, and cancel any upcomong RPA orders, as none would be paid after that. I've already used 10 AT days for FY13. I'm seriously considering using the rest before January. -
That's awesome.

day man, on 03 November 2012 - 12:36 AM, said: just hopped on this deal too. as an AR virgin, what do I need to know (sights, ammo, mx, etc)? MX: There's no need to clean it to surgical instrument cleanliness. Run the bolt and BCG fairly wet with a good lube; no lube needed in the barrel, chamber, or gas tube. I like Slip 2000 EWL. Opinions vary widely on lubes; there are even some who use a particular flavor of Mobil 1 motor oil (I think one of the motorcycle varieties). The lube battles on Arfcom and m4c are epic at times... Ammo: IIRC, a 16" 1:9 barrel will shoot anything up to around 70gr pretty well. Much heavier than that and you could start seeing accuracy issues, depending on the loading. Some people swear by the cheap Russian stuff (Wolf, Silver Bear, Brown Bear, etc.), and some swear at it. Some people's rifles will function and shoot just fine with the cheap stuff, others have jamming, short-stroking, feeding issues, and other problems. Sights: Personal preference, within your budget. I'm running fixed irons on my BCM and they work fine for me.

Indeed. After the '93 WTC bombing, he pushed HARD for evac drills and increased security, among other things, at the WTC in general and Morgan Stanley Dean Whitter (his employer) in particular. In '01, he knew going up meant almost-certain death... and did it anyway.

I know there are AFRC/AD Associate units, and ANG/AD Associate units. But I don't believe there are any AFRC/ANG Associate units. There's large ANG and AFRC presences here at WRI, but we are not associated, so the streams do not cross. Unless there's an interfly agreement between AFRC and ANG Ops Groups (we don't have one) at a base that hosts both, the answer is no.

And yet they STILL manage to fuck up the same things, in the same ways, that they were fucking up 6-9 weeks/months/years ago. If they actually are training, they sure as fuck ain't doing it right. The more you type, the more I become convinced that, in your case, SOF means Shoeclerky Oblivious Fucktard.

Power is still out at my house in PA. Lost all my patio furniture (and probably some other stuff that my wife didn't know I had outside). I'm sure I'll find more loss/damage once I get home. Neighbor lost the last tree in his yard; thankfully it fell away from our houses and into the open field behind his back yard. It's great hearing about these things via text msg from across the pond... NYC got beat to shit. ALL tunnels to NJ are flooded to some degree. The subway system is swamped. The pit at WTC had/has water flowing like Niagara through it. A flooded neighborhood in Queens burned, 50+ homes gone. There's a ship washed ashore in a park on Staten Island (granted it's a small one, but still...) The Jersey shore got beat to shit, north to south. One of the amusement piers in Seaside Heights is now wreckage in the surf (one can only hope MTV just says "fuckit" and pulls the plug early). The Boardwalk in Atlantic City is destroyed in many places. I saw a picture from a friend's FB page of a convenience store in Avalon that has water almost to the tops of the entry doors. Relatives in WV have close to 2ft of snow in their area.

Yep. Ranks just behind the "Most vehement demands for tailnumbers during briefed EMCON 3 mission" award.

NICE. Someday I'd like to do something similar to that with my '03A3...

Current production S-92s are sporting the CT7-8A, with nearly 2700shp (T/O) each. The CH-148 will (eventually) get the -8A7, with close to 3000shp each.

Holy shit... a full week has gone by and no one took the bait. Impressive.

I haven't heard anything about AFRC doing that, but I would not be surprised if they were.

- Enlist as an Active or Reserve boom? - Do you know how long the training pipeline is to become a mission-ready boom? - Have you considered how your deployments as a boom will impact your .civ flight training at MCCC? (Hint - the effects will be negative.) - What have you been doing between graduating HS and starting college? I suggest you do A LOT more research before making any other plans... -
DTS -> Next Generation Travel System - Ideas?

Don't know what Dupe is using, but I'm using TurboScan to do the same thing. Works great. -
Only because you prima-donna receivers play "I have a secret" with your tail numbers.

Speer offers at least one loading (230gr.) of Gold Dot that's specifically made for short barrels. They're not +P. They work well in my XD45 Service, although I'm not a good-enough or experienced-enough shooter to tell if they're truly "better" than the standard 230gr. Gold Dot. Might be worth looking into, if you haven't already...

Don't let your inability to breathe distract you from flying the airplane. {sarcasm, for anyone whose detectors are inop}

I already suggested simply putting iTunes on the epubs computer we already have in the briefing room, and setting it up to sync everyone's iPads to the current epubs by simply plugging them in (before they even started issuing them). The powers-that-be have decided "that's too hard", and are padlocked to setting up a $ecure wifi in the building to $ync over the air. Meanwhile, we basically can't use the fucking things because the epubs on it are out of date. My lowly TSgt/TR opinion counts for somewhere between jack and shit in this fight - too many O-5s cockfighting for the OPR bullet...

Oooops...

Ours are beginning to be issued. They bought OtterBoxes for all of them, so we're looking at approx. $700 per iPad. They only have epubs on them. The epubs are not current. They currently have no way to update them (apparently our comm folks won't allow iTunes on any .gov computer, regardless of network status). They're trying to get a secure wifi setup in the building for updating them, but $$ is a major factor. There's more, but I'm tired of thinking about it...
