- Wrong model of King Air. - In 18 years of aircraft maintenance (both .mil and .civ), I've never seen a WDM from any manufacturer that addressed how to fly the aircraft in question. EDIT: Damnit, I missed where Napoleon already said it....

Are you really this clueless, or are you just trolling in a particularly vile manner? I really hope you're trolling - I don't like to think that one of my brothers-in-arms wouldn't have a problem with dumping the remains of a fellow American in a fucking dumpster. -

Anyone else with the new update having an issue where you occasionally can't move the crosshairs for a few seconds, after firing the 105? Like the new map. Would love to be able to detonate the oil tanks, or drop one of the smokestacks. Speaking of the oil tanks, the graffiti on the tanks is a cool detail.

I deleted the email from the most recent buy (I want one, but it's too much $$ for me), so the details are a little hazy... IIRC the min order went up to 100, and the cost was around $2400 each. The Airwolf is not being offered; it's another model now.

1. Those wings look silver. IIRC, the only silver wings regularly worn by enlisted Marines are Combat Aircrew Wings and Basic Parachutisit wings: These ain't what he's wearing... 2. IIRC, the only time a Marine would wear any "breast insignia" on the right, is if they already had two authorized insignia above the ribbons & badges on the left. This is obviously not the case. (In 11 years, I think I saw that instance twice. Both individuals were probably already Staff NCOs when Christ was a Corporal.) 3. Star on his NDSM, no (visible) stars on his Good Conduct, no award bars on his Expert shooting badges, and (at least) SSgt chevrons. Something's not right...... ** Edit for more info and format.

Matterhorn, by Karl Marlantes. Vietnam, from the perspective of a Marine 2nd Lt infantry platoon leader. Written by a former Marine infantry platoon leader in Vietnam, and is, by the author's own admission, based largely on his own experiences. Marlantes was awarded the Navy Cross, two Navy Commendation Medals (with V's), two Purple Hearts, and ten Air Medals for his Vietnam service. Absolutely awesome book.

Thanks asshole, I had finally managed to forget about that gem... At least 36-chowmyhog doesn't tell you in excruciating detail what constitutes "acceptable" civilian attire. As an example, in addition to the above-quoted stupidity, the Marine Corps order on dress and appearance (MCO P1200.____; I forget the exact number and don't care anymore) states that if your .civ pants have belt loops, you will have a belt on, and don't think some overly-motivated SNCO won't do a belt-check on you out in town.

I remember when, every spring & fall, HQMC would publish the date when the "winter uniform period" would end and the "summer uniform period" would begin. Sleeves down in winter, sleeves up in summer. So easy to follow, even for Marines...

What's wrong with the Air Force? Commissioned officers who are afraid of enlisted personnel. I wanted to puke every time I heard an officer whining about "being Chiefed" during my latest stay at Camp Cupcake... Re: the disco belts - I gave a young A1C an ass-chewing a couple weeks ago, when he walked out in front of our crew bus without turning his head in any direction (he was wearing a belt). If the look on his face was a reliable indication, my words did not strike a single functioning brain cell as they transited his skull from one ear to the other.

The website of the current design rights owner (Dart Industries) is a dead link. This is one of the few decent builder's websites I found in a brief Google search, and truth be told, there ain't much here (as compared to modern kits and builder's websites). Designed to be powered by an automotive conversion engine (which I'm personally not a fan of). Composites are a shit-ton of labor to get right, and are very environment-sensitive. Temperature and humidity play a not-insignificant part in the strength & durability of a composite layup. Practice working with resin & cloth a lot before attempting layups you'll be trusting your life to. Required consumables for composite construction are numerous. Mixing cups & sticks, resin rollers, sandpaper, peel-ply, scrim cloth, gloves, sandpaper, dust masks, disposable coveralls (or plenty of clothes you don't mind ruining), sandpaper, resin dispenser(s), solvents... not to mention lots of fiberglass resin and cloth. And sandpaper. I won't even get into vacuum-bagging equipment... **EDIT - Dragonfly owners/builders Yahoo Group . Fixed grammar and spelins.

Heard earlier today that the NGA FLIP filesize is ridiculously large, especially compared to Jepps (the figure quoted today was over 6GB just for the NGA FLIP for the AOR), and is a big roadblock in the approval process.

The FAA certification process is a big part. Another is the after-effect of lawsuits from families of dead pilots/pax suing everyone connected to the mishap flight, and the judgements of courts/juries with no clue that a day-VFR-only pilot knowingly pressing into "hard IMC", or a dumbass trying to fly a 4hr leg with only 3hrs of gas aboard, is a recipe for fail.

Some things to think about that I won't attach dollar values to, but can really start to add up. I'll assume you're buying an already-built -4... - Was the aircraft built to plans, or at least reasonably close? - Traditional engine (Lycoming/lyclone) or automotive conversion? - Has the previous owner/builder worked out any/all the bugs in the systems? - How much time is on the engine & prop? - Ever flown an RV? Transition training (if you choose it or your insurance co. requires it) can be expensive, but that's a one-shot deal. - As a non-builder, you'll need an A&P to sign-off the condition inspection every year. Not all A&P's are willing to do it due to liability concerns - you may need to hunt one down who is familiar with RVs and is willing to do the inspection, and fly to his/her location annually.
