I don't know if any other communities or crew positions practice this, but we are trained to use "back" rather than "aft" when giving verbal corrections to a receiver aircraft; i.e. "Forward limit, back five". "Aft" can can be confused with "left" over the radio/interphone, depending on the speaker's accent. This is also taught to Marine Corps enlisted aircrew as well, for the same reason (as of late 2003, anyway).

So that's what that item is on my currency sheet. Is the CBT on ADLS? Hold that thought, someone's knocking at the door..........

Serious question: why is a KC-10 dual-role painful for the user? Are you talking about A-10s specifically, or fighters generally? Not that I've been doing this for a long time, but I have done plenty of dual-role missions, and I don't recall the word "painful" being used by anyone involved...

I dunno about AR-15s (because I've never fired one), but every M-16A2 I ever fired in the Corps made the "byonggg" sound from the buffer spring. It's the nature of the beast. If you listen closely enough to it, you can even tell when the magazine is empty without counting. edit: On a related note, I've just about decided on a 16" mid-length BCM upper for one of the AR lowers I bought last month.

The network at WRI has a 'bot that pops up IE-based warning messages during the logon process. The latest message stresses OPSEC as it pertains to social-networking sites, and ways to ensure you don't compromise sensitive info on Facebook, MySpace, etc. Still can't get to those sites on WRI's network, though... even through the links on af.mil. Hopefully, they'll keep it that way.

Unfortunately, you are correct. I have the distinct displeasure of flying with a few of those self-serving assholes... and they're not limited to only one paygrade or crew position. KC-10s are "owned" by the two AD Wings (and ultimately by the American taxpayers, of course). Reserve clowns like me just get to borrow the equipment for the duration of the flight/mission.

I'm sure some of it has already been converted to urine by now (although... it was Bud and Mickey Ultra... so it wasn't too far from urine to start with).

I haven't decided on a LPK yet, but Stag and Rock River are in the lead, based on my initial research. The first one will be a 16" barrel, mid-length gas system, basic rifle. I can't afford all the bells & whistles, and I have no experience with any of 'em anyway - all my M-16 trigger time from the other service was with the M-16A2. Not sure yet what I'll do with the second lower; my wife told me after I ordered 2 lowers that she's not interested in her own rifle. I might just keep it in a safe place for later. I also haven't decided whether I want to build my own upper, or just buy one pre-built (BravoCompany has a nice one I've been eyeing up for a while).

That would be nice... but I'll bet we never see it fleet-wide, because the cost/benefit ratio won't be good enough in the short-term (i.e. one promotion cycle) to satisfy the beancounters.
