  1. A woman named Amelia Earhart is going to fly around the world.By Will Lerner March 12, 2014 10:11 AM ....A woman who shares the name of famous pilot Amelia Earhart will be embarking on an adventure this summer - a flight around in the world in a plane, aPilatus PC-12 NG. As this genarations Ms. Earhart told KPHO CBS 5 News, she hopes that by recreating (and successfully completing) the 1937 journey, she will be able to get women excited about aviation. https://www.flywithamelia.org/mission/
  2. Never at Dyess but I'm sure every place has similar stories, just different names. Well maybe except the Vice CC....that one probably hasn't happened too many times. ETA: IF the Vice story is true. I can neither confirm nor deny. Was this at WRI ??
  3. Got it for my droid last week. Works great. Thanks DFRESH
  4. Your "scenario" isn't as fun to bitch about.
  5. The guard may be quicker but I don't think I ever saw a reserve physical come back in less than six months
  6. You're a Nav aren't you?
  7. I've seen a Nav marry a Load and a Pilot marry an FE (both were in the same squadrons together) and nothing happened. Now if you happen to make it to become a FW vice CC (O-6) and are married to a LTC and you you get caught banging a married E ... well things may not work out so well. Of course that is just a hypothetical situation, any similarty to a real life event is purely coincidental.
  8. What gearpig and lloyd said.
  9. It won't be a problem since you were dating prior to joining. It may be a problem if she were in your chain of command when you started dating. Even then they usually just move you around so that you aren't in her chain. Just my opinion from what I saw in my 17 years in the ARC. ETA: Just re-read and saw that you said you would be in different units. It will be a non-issue
  10. Thanks. Must be the nazis at work.
  11. I don't know why I keep coming back to read this thread when it gets revived. Makes my blood pressure spike everytime I do. What a complete douche bag, asshole this fvcker is/was. I guess it's like a train wreck. Don't want to see it but can't look away.
  12. I've been trying to access https://usaf.aib.law.af.mil/ It appears to be a dead link now. Could just be the POS network at my work. Does anyone know if there is a new web address?
  13. In my ~17 years in the Federal Civil Service (9 as an Air Guard Technician, 8 with the FAA) I have never seen a grievance accomplish anything other than mild stress and paperwork for the "accused". Nothing gets changed and no one gets in trouble. The accuser gets to strut around her co-workers bragging that she "filed a grievance on his ass". You'll have to dig around in some regs and write a response and that will likely be the end of it.
  14. I'm in. Anyone going to Germany and can bring me a case of Das Helle, I get you anything available around Atlanta.
  15. That's funny right there, I don't care who you are
  16. I happened to have gone to Key West yesterday on a Delta 73. I've been in there about three times so I know what to expect. Funny as hell yesterday when they planted the landing listening to the gasps from the pax. We were fairly empty coming out so the T/O was fairly "normal". I've come out of there loaded and the captain made an announcement to the effect that 'we are about to do a max effort T/O due to the short rwy'. I'll admit I started getting slightly aroused but it didn't last long. It wasn't nearly as erotic as a Herk max effort.
  17. That is true but I was a WHOLE lot less stressed than the rest of my classmates.
  18. Best advice I could give you is to try to find an FE instructor in your squadron who would be willing to teach you how to run a TOLD card before you ever leave for BFE. Emphasis on the "try to find" because most are probably going to tell you that you'll learn it at school (they don't want to waste their time with you). However, if you can run a TOLD card when you get to BFE you will be head and shoulders above everyone in your class. About half of everyday in BFE is running TOLD, the other half is basic airmanship, weather, etc. I would spend 20 minutes doing TOLD that took everyone else 2 hours to do. Spent the rest of the time in class reading over tomorrow's lesson. Spent my evenings drinking and watching everyone else tearing their hair out trying to do their TOLD homework and reading over today's and tomorrow's lesson. Trust me on this.
  19. Just what someone told me. I haven't seen the actual data, thus my qualifying words.
  20. Heard on the news this morning that a dispatcher was in the jump seat and "may have contributed" to the incident. They said the dispatcher is on paid leave now. There was mention of the sterile cockpit rule below 10k.....
  21. Anyone on here from the 103AW, Connecticut ANG?
  22. I've heard that a 737 TO/L performance is similar to a Herk (roughly the same weights/speeds/distances). If that is the case then it should have no trouble getting out of a 3700' rwy empty. 73's go into Key West everyday with a 4800' rwy loaded.
  23. He ran out of excuses to not answer the question "So what is your job in the AF?" and just drifted away.
