  1. Critics say you're cuttng the wrong systems-ISR systems-to buy more fighters. "First, I can only cut personnel 8 more times like we did, before we have no AF. Second, the F-22 is the best sensor on the battlefield, bar none, including the E10, which can't get close enough to the battlefield to make a difference." When asked if the F-22 is the answer: "We are looking at how you do long range recce and strike. We are following Moore's Law to pack more density onto our assets. With Global Hawk and Predator, we have deep penetration and are getting SA in a remarkable way." Nothing like contradicting yourself in statements right after one another. Looks like the Chief of Staff has his man in the SECAF. I know this is "old news" but it keeps cropping up and I'm concerned with how far they are goingto take it all. Cooter
  2. Too late there's already an authorized hat at the Deid. Won't be long before there's rank on it. Thank god I'm in upgrade that's all I can say. Cooter
  3. Scooter Welcome back bro, glad you were able to get into the Muff after I left. Can't say I wsan't happy to leave before 1 Oct! I know it was just starting before I left and I'm sure it's more redonculous than ever. Word on the street here is we may have a recall in PT gear... . And "2" to Rainman's post...what a fat tool. Reminds me of the guy in the AMD cell, I think he had 100mph tape holding his flight suit together. Funny how people will tell you to correct you on the baragain basement PT gear but won't tell some Hungry Hungry hippo to back his fat ass away from the table. Cooter
  4. Herk Driver Rog, understood. I was more trying to express that "problems" they see as symptamatic (whether good or bad fun etc.) will be added in the future. I can see quite a list of GO 1X's in our future. Cooter
  5. Now days there's lots of "and then and then and then...etc." Whenever they find something they don't like it becomes an addendum to GO 1/1A. It will only get more restrictivein the future. Cooter
  6. WOW that is hilarious! My best Ambien trip was 2 or 3 trips ago when I "apparently" went to the bathroom, made it half way back before someone noticed I was just in my boxers. One of my bros pointed out the next day after flying but I had no recolections of it happening. 2 trips ago my AC (super cool Guard Maj now Lt Col) came out to say goodbye to someone, didn't remember it and a picture eneded up in the morning brief. Nothing like free/legal AF drugs! Cooter
  7. You don't have to turn anything down, all you have to do is not turn in your paper work. The only medal that I pursued was my Aerial Achievement which I actually feel like I earned (real world SRO). My Air Medals...not so much. Don't get me wrong the RJ does awesome work in OIF/OEF but it ain't the EWOs and it ain't the flight deck doing it (Sorry guys you all know it's the truth). Take pride in the fact you served and did your job to the best of your ability. Just day dream of the moment when some shoe clerk is telling you about his time in the "shit" and you can give him that "smile" and say "Oh really, wow". It's ultimately what you feel inside and the bros you fly/fight with think. Keep it in perspective. Cooter +
  8. Portugese Arm Wrestling Champion (must be darker skinned, and somewhat in good shape, or pick you're own country/sport. Like always the more obscure the better) worked like a champ a few times for my buddy. Cooter
  9. Don't you mean "of my Balls"? I'm not sure about all this $1000 stuff but we just implemented dues (which I'm late on paying, TDY) and collected a shitload. It's a sliding scale for rank but it worked out really well in the end. We also have fines but haven't seen any implemented. The big thing is people gankin' yo shit. Our snack bar is near a big briefing room and the vault so people were always doing low approaches. Stop that shit and you'll see a huge increase. We also had a callsign night (which I missed...stupid Deid) that I heard went really well but I don't think anyone was charged...note to self. Somebody should start a snacko company, go around to all the squadrons (snacko efficiency experts). "Yeah...Force shaped some people this week, so we're gonna need to play catch up." Cooter
  10. TS and SCI are two different animals. I have heard of guys applying for their TS before training but not as a requirement. There are very few positions that require TS or SCI even once completed with trainng. Its that whole need to know thing. And R17 quit being . Cooter
  11. From BBC News A Nato aircraft has crashed in the southern Afghan province of Kandahar, a Nato spokesman has said. It was not immediately clear whether there were any casualties. The crash was not the result of enemy fire and the plane which was supporting a Nato mission in the area was not a fighter jet, Maj Scott Lundy said. Nato forces are at the scene but there is no word on how many people were on board. A large Canadian contingent is based in Kandahar province. To the fallen Cooter [ 02. 12. Just for the record the RJ isn't an E per se. Boeing doesn't want their name anywhere near it! One trend I've seen lately is dudes in RJ going on 1 deployment a year and not flying all that much at home. Not sure if it's a luck of the draw thing or the influx of lots (I mean lots, I don't know any of these kids) of new folks. I see our days overseas going down but I don't see that as a good thing. Flying at home is even less productive (speaking for backend types mind you) and come on it's the Died not Iraq. In your career you'll go to Kadena once, twice if you're one of the lucky few. Great TDY but short. Good group of folks, of course you have your douches/pogues/assbags but they are pretty few and far between. Good mission, I'd prefer more hours/TDY per year but I'm in the minority I think there. It's all in what you make it really. Cooter
  13. Much better than "You guys suck!" :D Cooter
  14. I think this is going to be an actual badge like Wings/Career Field badges. Wonder if it will resemble the Army CAB or if the AF will put a new age hip spin on it? Either way, good on'em for giving folks the recognition they deserve. I will say that in fine AF fashion if you know someone who thought they heard a gunshot you'll probably get it so in the end it probably won't mean much... ...we don't want any of our new age troops feeling left out now do we? 15. https://www.strategypage.com/htmw/htmoral/a...s/20060818.aspx Since we were discussing it the other day, I happen to run across this article. Hope they can take time out away from their uniform boards for this. Cooter
  16. And people wonder why the AF catches so much hell...It's because of douche nozzles like you! Cooter
  17. That's cuz enlisted chicks don't like to sleep.
  18. Hacker good call bro. This brings up the good technique, procedure and the all important "technedure" discussion. Would hate for some UPT/UNT student to get the "Where the hell'd you learn that?" from an instr and they reply, "the guys on baseops.net do it". As much as we'd like I don't think our discussions will ever be deemed "regulation", required reading maybe. It's not "required" that we wear our straps at all times, highly suggested you could say. T/O, AR and landing but the rest of the time not so much. I personally do for the simple reason of seeing lots of people float around in the tube or get slammed into the ceiling during a few near mid airs and incorrect flight control inputs. To each his own but make sure you're ready to face the consequences of your actions. Cooter
  19. Is there actually a DNP on PRFs? I've done quite a few and all I remember is P/DP. Could be wrong since I've been out of the office fore about 5 months. All I can say is you better stat building your OPRs as a Lt. The more #1s and #1 of 25 and #5 of 70's you have the better. That's what they look for, how'd you stack up against your peers. If you don't have those, and good ones (top 5% or better or #1 of 10 or more your hopes of being a Genreal someday could be squashed) the board could really care less how many bombs or boxes of TP you dropped in the war. I've seen a lot of shady shit go on and then they come out with a #1/300 CGOs in Group. Whatever those people sacrifice they can keep it, Not worth it to me. Be very involved in your OPR writingprocess and push for strats so you can have a bunch in your PRF. Getting a P for your Majors board is not a killer. As said before you'd have to have some skeletons in your closet..like the WG/CCs daughter  ! Cooter
  20. Hey but they have a gold border on their AFESR, that means they've deployed for combat ops! Oh and they rearranged the chow hall on my side (which by the way creates this huge ridiculous line every time it's open), sure someone got a Legion of Merit for that one. Cooter
  21. Yes ICE machines was the other thing I couldn't remember...wars over folks we can make ice in a desert. Cooter
  22. I would bring at least 6 sets of PT gear for the 3 day laundry turn around. I'm leaving right before 1 Oct when that all takes effect so I'm still strutting my civilain attire on base. The only place you where light belts is over in Ops and on flight line obviously. Don't get me wrong the Died is nice (it's all relative brother) and once you've been here 3/4 or more times you don't notice a lot of theings anymore, but yeah it still blows with all the REMF's. I get more emails on how to wear PT gear and other queep stuff that you just get used to it. Bring civies for downtown and possibly the trip home. There's been a lot of back and forth on whether or not it's DCU's or civilain and they can't make up there minds. One "big" decision coming down soon is whether or not you hqve to wear your cover while waiting for the bus. Oh and even better you can now wear sunglasses around your neck but not indoors for long periods of time, that's unprofessional. So we got that going for us now! Unfukinbelievable! Cooter
  23. No more lightbelts in CC finally. I don't know how manu times I woke up in the middle of the night and got yelled at from across the compound for not having my light belt. Getting a stern talking to while doing the "I gotta piss hop" is so rewarding. I have to say out of all my trips this one is the most relaxed...buuuuut there is still stupidnous that goes on. My squadron out here had mandatory bed makings everyday and random weekly room inspections for 3 months...RETARDED! What are we twelve? Go to steak night at the CAOC you'll be suprised they actually use a grill. Other than that...it's still the same old Died. Anyone going to be here Jan-May? Going back to crew dogging after my stint in the CA OC. I'll be this guy but with a mustache a F**KING huge one (STS)! Cooter 35 days to go biatches! Muff's back open btw! [ 11. 24. I notice AMC guys get a benchmade issued to them, not us fat kids in ACC. Had to buy my own but that's alright it's a great knife. Not the same as most I've seen no serrations but she opens fast. Cooter
  25. Gerber makes a nice blade called the LMF/LNF or something. It's their new Infantry/Survival knife. Check out Gerbers website. Cooter
