  4. Do I think it should be exported...No and Yes. Would I give it to the UK, hell yes I would. Besides that whole Revolution/War of 1812 fiasco they've been our best supporters in the world. And being they're only real friend with any sack/strength in Europe I say yes. Perhaps Canada/Australia as well but they kind of fall into the same lump. Israel...ehhh not so much. For them it's not a question of avionics becasue the first thing they do is replace everything with their components or variations there of. Israel has also known to be quite frindly in sharing technology with the "bad guys" ie India/China. Not that India is "bad" but they're not exactly our best friends. Remember too that the IAF was desiging an IDF but we convinced them to buy the 16 and save themselves the development costs. Screw everybody else IMHO. France is pushing the Rafale (so they can make money and build more) and the Germans the Eurofighter (Like they'll go to war ever again in their current state of affairs) and Saab(Sweden) the Gripen. All capable aircraft but very few in number. The other aspect is piloting, we have the best as far the score goes with the current generation fighters and most guys at least have Combat experience in the multirole aircraft. Bottom line the F-22 should be reserved for the most deserving (us/US) and our closest Allies. Interoperability will increase and commonality can only help. If you disagree with that fine but work with the Brits and other nations enough and you really begin to see who's on "our team". Cooters .02 from CAOC hell...I mean heaven
  5. Now I'm really interested about Leadership thing. You're saying you should put a push for Sqdn level command as early as possible? Isn't that a little out of our sphere of influence as a young captain. I can understand a senior cpt or Majot but it just seems really early. Kind of "hey look at me I want to be a General". When I look at mine it goes out to about my 10 year point or so (Just pinned on Cpt). How far is too far I'm wondering. TODP changes with the wind for most poeple but some don't and just trying to get a different perspective than what I've been told so far. Cooter
  6. I would not reccomend going with the above. Your assignments officer needs to know waht you want to do and your goals. For instance if you want to go to White Jets/Weapons School/1 year remote/etc.. Your TODP can change as often as you want as well. What you're doing today may not be what you want to do tomorrow or your future plans could change as well. Put where you would llike to go in your current career field/where you would lke to go in the future, PME and oversease assignments. It's your career tell them what you want.   7. Where did you read that? I'd be interested to see that email. I'm an '02 guy but that's just amazing. I know for the EWO side of the house it seems like they can't have enough. A lot of us are needed for other jobs (EWCC/CAOC/Staffs/etc.) and there's not a lot of folks to pick from with experience. Be interesting to see what comes out of that. Cooter

  9. If $ isn't an option go for the Bose noise cancelling jobs. Some people swear by them others like me...whatever it's a headset and the battereis always die when you need the most so I don't use them (Yes defeats the purpose of a $1000 headset but hey...didn't come out of my pocket). I like the feel of my DC's better too. The Bose are really flimsy as well, countless sets have been brke in my sqdn. Cooter
  10. Attitude is a huge part. I personally hooked 2 rides in UNT...my first 2 checks. I busted my ass all the time and when I hooked my second checkride I was being rolled back. I went straight to my Flt/CC and made my case to stay in my class and recheck the next day. He knew I was a hard worker and against the policy at the time kept me and I aced the check the next day. It's all about want and desire. When the horse kicks you off you gotta climb back up and ride her (STS) again. Live by FIDO...get the job done. Cooter

I'm a heavy guy so I get a little more space but I carry a Blackhawk pack with a filtered hydrastorm, personal GPS (Being that we only have 3 on the jet for quite a few more people than that), 2 knives (auto folder and a backup), surefire w/IR filter, mirror and some of the meal packs from MRE's. Also I throw in long johns if I'm not already wearing them (I here Afghanistan can be cold :( . It's all up to you and what you think would be useful. Some guys take nothing others take a lot. Don't over burden yourself and don't be the guy taking 4 bags of samiches/sodas to go fly. Cooter
  15. Just did this one about 3 months ago and oh what a trip. My crew got into Seattle at about 0100 and we had to sit and wait to trun in our luggage at 0600. If you do that at least your first in line and don't have to worry about luggage anymore. Once you board it's like shipping cattle. The jet is packed and the screaming babies are awesome. We had folks who had been on a plane starting in Germany. Not the best looking stews I've ever had either. 10.0 hours later we landed at Yokota and that went reasonably fast, about an hour. We then took off for the 2.5 hour flight to Kadena, screaming babies and all. Once we landed we had 2 kids begin to puke so they had a flight doc wiating for us and carted them off to the hospital. As we got to the terminal we were informed we were all quarintined (sp) for possible bird flu. 3.5 hours later we were released because they finally figured out they were probably sick from being on an airplane for 2 days straight. Quite the ordeal let me tell you. Cooter
  16. A guy I know just accepted a remote to ROK and one of the slots open to him were Prowlers. So it is possible, you may have to takeone for the team (STS) but it's possible. Also the navy is going to start ditching the Prowler for the Growler by '08 so not sure how that's going to pan out for the AF folks. Cooter ...PACOM bound

  18. My ersonal favorite when it comes to radio discipline is on secure nets. When you fly over...for instance...Iraq or Afghanistan guys key the mike get the bep rush and then just start to ramble on and on. BEEP...kssssshhhhhhh..."uhh, yeah I'm here walking the dog and oh yeah i had breakfast." Radio speak is an acquired taste i'll grant you that but when you're alking you want it as clear and concise as possible. Yo always get guys talking about the weather and so on and so forth. Nothing better than a "BREAK...BREAK" ao you can actually get some useful sh%t out on the radio. Just my experience but there's lots 'O' folks out there that need to learn that radios are for pasing mission essential info, not the friggin' dinner menu. Cooter...and his .02 Far east bound baby
  19. Everything in OPRs has been done 100 times before and then some. That's becoming the problem, everybodies are starting to look the same. Especially when we've got folks doing all of the same things. Think of the beginning of bullets as an attention step. Personally for my next OPR I'm going to slip in (STS) "Nails jello to the wall!" The more creative you can be with staying true to the facts the better. To piggy back on strats this was just released from AFPC: Level 1--#1/12, Best ever known lvl 2--Top 5-10% lvl 3--One of my best lvl 4--One of my sharpest/hardest working. Basically you want a level one or two strat, try to avoid level 3 and 4 unless they are truly deserving of it. Again if you need any help let me know.   20. Welcome to hell my friend! Now someone knows my pain on these boards. Check out AFI 36-2406, that's the overarching guidnace for report writing, I also use T&Q and the 8th AF Wrting guide (there should be equivalents out there. Also our Wing has a Wing Man for writing reports. That'll get you started, the big thing is to only use approved acronyms that are in your approved guides (at least here anyway). In all my vast experience as a 3 1/2 year 1Lt has me writing and proffing OPRs for guys 3 grades above me. After 6 months or so I sorta had a knack for it and it was fun for 5 minutes. Now 8 months later...well you'll know how I feel. Anyway like I said I've been doing this for a while and if you have any questions let me know, PM, email or whatever.   22. I just love these conversatons, because they're 100% true. ChuckflyC17's and I got in a discussion with some of our British counterparts and I felt pretty ridiculous at the amount of medals that everyone gets that really mean anything. I've been flying the line for a year and a half now and damn it if I'm not already starting to look like a South American dictator! You've got your GWOT-E/S now the Iraqi and Afghani campaign medals pretty soon there will be the "I knew someone deployed" medal I'm sure. I'm all about getting recognition for your service becasue so few people get what they deserve but getting medasl for the sake of getting them is BS. I've got two ribbons that I've felt I've earned and one is my expert marksmanship one. And that's only becasue I like to shoot. Even my Air Medals seem dumbed down. I know what I do is important but is it important enough. I'm sure lots of folks have asked themselves this question but I think it's just part of human nature, or the flyers nature. I work with Awds and Decs and OPR's (Don't even get me started on those) when I'm home so I see lots of this stuff. The worst is when I see fellow flyers get wrapped around the axle and start counting eachothers ribbons and medals and such. Well to each his own I guess. Cooter
