  1. Same here, three letter abbreviations aren't producing any results. HD
  2. Stop digging. HD
  3. YGBSM. HD
  4. Exactly. HD
  5. Jill Metzger: We've already seen you. HD
  6. Well put, and that's exactly the problem. Bean counters have no business telling an A/C how much fuel he needs. One of the funniest quotes I've heard: "When the AF pays like an airline pilot, I'll fly like one." HD
  7. Way to twist my words. I'm talking about AMC, nothing else. HD
  8. I never said ARC. HD
  9. I haven't heard anything on it, but I wouldn't be surprised if slick crossovers were reduced to make room for the guys crossing over from ACC. HD
  10. It would take MAJCOM level approval. Not to mention you can't just pop the externals on and off depending on the sortie requirements. There's really two schools of thought when it comes to the externals. Some guys say they create excess drag, but then again, what doesn't cause drag on a Herk. Then there is the wing loading issue. HD
  11. You need to use a civilian passport if you're not traveling on orders. HD
  12. Thankfully they don't watchdog us like that. That sucks. HD
  13. It's not a huge change, but it still limits it. The eng changes the told card every 5K. That's not a big deal flying around he flagpole, but summertime at OAIX, I'll take all of the performance I can get. I understand what you're saying. We don't carry much gas when you compare it to tankers and heavies. What we consider "tankering" hardly ever exceeds 5K and is a far cry from what you'll see in the t-tail world. But Big Blue is broke and AMC wants you to save gas. HD
  14. You're misunderstanding. We're not talking about AR. "Tankering gas" just means taking off with extra gas that you don't need. HD
  15. At higher gross weights it requires more engine power to maintain airspeed. In other words, tankering gas makes you burn extra fuel in order to carry the tankered gas. In Herks, you don't want to tanker gas more because it's a performance/payload-limiting issue than a conservation issue. HD
  16. 'Nuff said. HD
  17. No one cares if you drink or not. They care if you use it as a reason to never hang out. HD
  18. No. I'd take the poster any day. HD
  19. According to the AFA almanac, the Medical career field has the second highest number of officers behind pilot. Not to mention most AF installations have a MDG. For joint spouse assignments, you'd be in pretty good shape. HD
  20. I got my wings in Corpus. I sat in those sims several times wondering exactly what the Navy's fascination was with the "Microsim". FYI, those Microsims were not a portion of the Navy's actual syllabus. They provide them for studs to use on their own time. IMHO, they were useless. The instruments were hard to see and 99.69% of the studs sitting at the consoles were just goofing off and doing barrel rolls between buildings in downtown Corpus. I'm not trying to talk you out of buying anything, I'm just giving you some insight. The most important thing to prepare yourself for UPT is to practice the boldface and ops limits. After that, If you think a computer game is going to make one bit of difference in UPT, then have at it. Take it for what it's worth. HD
  21. I dig the counter-rotating props, but the T-tail needs to go. HD
  22. There's no advantage to a video game. Any "advantage" you have from knowing the instrument layout will be useless since once you start phase one, you'll be spending practicing ground ops in the cockpit mockups when you're not in class. Pilots have been graduating from UPT without the help of Iris Simulations for 60 years. Now that's the real advantage you can get prior to UPT. Tech orders are controlled, but looking over the boldface and ops limits at t6driver is good enough. Just remember, that any gouge you get on the internet may be obsolete. HD
  23. Ted Nugent. HD
  24. Not to mention that he purposely swerved around the white car that stopped. HD
