Yeah no kidding. I deleted that one the second I finished clickin through all of the links. HD
  2. It's exactly the place. If I am the "customer" and the "customer service rep" isn't doing his job, I'm going to call him out. What you don't seem to understand is I wouldn't be looking for special treatment, I'd be looking for the rep to do his job correctly. If he still doesn't my next stop is his supervisor's office. HD
  3. I think they are all Reserve. The few Navy herk drivers I've met were all Reservists. HD
  4. If someone can't do their job, they deserve to be yelled at. HD
  5. Not all 130 crew, but most. Almost all 130 guys (regardless of type) will spend time at LR. I don't know how much the MDP program changed the syllabus for AFSOC guys at LR, but it used to be that he gunship guys go off hurbie after phase one, the MC guys would leave after phase two, and the slicks and rescue would do all three phases. You don't see any Navy at LR. The Navy only has a few 130 guys left they switched the TACAMO mission over to the E-6, but they do still have a very small number of 130s and I'm not sure what they use them for. I think the coasties do all of their training in-house at their unit. There was a coastie IP at LR, probably the same one that murph and amcflyboy are talking about. Marine loads train at LR. Pilots train at MCAS Cherry Point for T-models and LR for J-models. HD
  6. Reserve mission. HD
  7. I'm not sure if they use King Airs. The flight check guys use the FAA's C-29s and AFFSA has a couple of C-21s. HD
  8. Herk drivers can transfer to other Herk platforms. Some changes are easy and some aren't. For example, it is easier to go from slicks to AFSOC than it is to go from AFSOC to slicks. It all depends on what going on in the assignment cycle and how backed up the schoolhouses are. It's common to see slick drivers go off to AC/MC/HC/MC assignments. You don't see as many AFSOC guys coming over to slicks, they're more likely to bounce to a different AFSOC bird. The training between the variants is widely different when it comes to the aircraft's mission, but it's still a Herk. Almost all IQ students (regardless of type) will spent some time at LR getting qual'd. HD
  9. That checks. I know an AD guy who flys for flight check. HD
  10. Same here. It seems they switch, first you get the flying one and then you get the OTS one. I'm glad they send the emails though, it's fine with me if some shoeclerk wants to volunteer in order to get some "trigger time". HD
  11. I get an email from AFPC every month asking if I'd like to teach the Iraqis. HD
  12. 17H - Grammar Professor HD
  13. Nothing. I just don't think it's worth the effort to hassle with leadership and resubmit travel vouchers over two bucks worth of laundry. HD
  14. C-17s are not spec ops aircraft. HD
  15. Bingo. HD
  16. Interesting. I think overall the revert could work. It'd be nice to see and end to the blame game. 1) E's run the mx career field. 2) Mx officers can't lead their way out of a wet paper bag. 3) Even with CDM positions, there isn't a lot of chance for advancement anway. If you want command opportunities, don't become a mx officer. HD
  17. I agree with most of that post. No one's disagreeing with that. Helo's get shot at with everything from SAMs to rocks, everyone knows that. You guys never leave the WEZ and you're an easy target for any dipshit with a rifle. But then again, that's what you're supposed to do. A tac airlifter full of troops can be a juicier target. Especially, when they don't have miniguns on the side. I agree. Sadly there are plenty of types who never touch the WEZ or are seeing it for the first type and are quick to report retarded crap to intel. I puke at half the misreps I read. Agree, for all airframes. Agree. But on the same point, it's possible for the A-10 to be in less danger. Hajjis love shooting at planes that won't shoot back. If everyone was like that, it'd be great. The problem is some people just can't be happy with their job and have to squawk about their "combat experience" to anyone who will listen. HD

  20. Awesome post. Also, an awesome post. The problem is to find the middle ground. Put your troops in for awards when they deserve them, at the same time don't go overboard and give the appropriate medal for the action. Otherwise, we will eventually ruin the prestige behind all medals and the last few true medals for heroism (like the silver star) will end up just another bronze star-esque award for achievement. HD
  21. Off-DZ drops, landing on dirt = DFC. But when you hear the Herk guys rag on the Budda, it's referring to earlier in the war. Mainly this is because Budda guys were putting in for DFCs and getting them just for landing on dirt LZs. The same shit Herks have done in every war previously. The problem is: 1) The Budda is new and expensive, so the AF is quick to recognize any form achievement. 2) The Barney guys weren't afraid to put themselves in for the award. Herk guys are notoriously bad at putting themselves in for medals, we chalk it up to "business as usual". Which is fine, but with that mindset, you can't always call bullshit when another airframe gets medals for doing the same shit. If you think you rate it and your AC never put you in for it, then take charge. This is where we differ. HD
  22. From what I hear, AIS is a great training opportunity. I've talked over TERPS and such with AIS graduates before and was pretty impressed by what they learned in the course. HD
  23. Same here. HD
  24. I would assume nautical. HD
  25. Society loves to make heros out of your standard single mother working a job or two to support their kids. But a single dad raising the kids AND going through UPT? Now that's impressive. HD
