  1. So true. It's weird how much that place has changed over four years. It was a complete culture shock landing on the new runway for the first time. HD
  2. C-12s and C-17s. Kulis is being brac'd and will move their ops over to Elmo within a couple years. Eventually that unit will become a reverse assosciate unit, so slicks will be possible again in the future. Word around he rumor mill is that they may put a unit of C-27s up there when those come down the pike. HD
  3. You read that wrong. I said "There's the gotcha" pointing out that the wing king has the authority to keep you on base. The lesson being, if billeting says the base commander will not let you off base, it's best to not start a tirade. "No, you're wrong. I read on Baseops.net that......" Not to mention the requirements for him to make the decision are highly up to interpretation...."times of military necessity." HD
  4. "The installation commander or the aircraft commander may waive aircrew lodging requirements on a temporary basis for reasons of military necessity." There's your gotcha. HD
  5. Ugh. HD
  6. Entitlements are part of your pay. There's no shame in claiming what you are owed. However, don't be a douchebag when it comes to vouchers. The other day, I had one of my crew from a TDY come up and complain to me that he didn't get reimbursed for laundry. Laundry? WTFO? He had put four quarters into a washer and four into a dryer and he claimed it. It kills me when I see people do shit like that. Usually these are the same people who draw a new flight suit every month and complain about the sq not having any funds. BTW, this thread was a great idea Xtndr. HD
  7. I'll take it over LR and Fayettenam. HD
  8. Yee-F@#$ing-Haw!
  9. Wow.....bitch. If you haven't reported yet, I think you need to figure out if you're ready to start UPT or not. You need to go into UPT with a clear head. If you need a couple months to get your shit together, you may want to mention it to whoever your supervisor is when you report in. Once you're checked-in, it is possible for them to roll you a class or two if you need the time to get things in order. If you're just now separating from your wife, those are definitely circumstances that people would be willing to work with you on. If you think you're good to go, then start looking for child care and press on. HD
  10. I've almost hit a Predator before. Does that count? HD
  11. Dyess and LR need the people. Cheyenne doesn't. HD
  12. No. It was a standard AF deal. "Hey, the Army looks snappy in their PTs. We should do that." So it was done. HD
  13. The satellites had to get into space somehow. HD
  14. Bronze star w/ valor. HD
  15. Very important. If it weren't for space exploration we wouldn't have Tempur-pedic! But seriously, consider what we have learned about our planet and the universe since the 1960s and the technologies we have today (like GPS) that are a direct result. HD
  16. Exactly. Way too many prospective cadets gulp down the ERAU kool aid because they always hear about the high number of slots dropped to ERAU. That's all fine and good, but you also have to compete for them against about a hundred other cadets. Your chances are just as good going to a good school with a smaller ROTC det, less slots but less people to compete with and probably a better commander's ranking. Pick a school you want to attend for the degree. Don't pick a school for a pilot slot. It doesn't matter where you attend ROTC, just do well on your grades, AFOQT, and PT test and you'll get the pilot slot. HD
  17. The world needs ditch diggers. HD
  18. If she had been raped, the AF wouldn't have concealed one single detail. HD
  19. We all share your frustration. What I love is how some of the media reports bill her as a "rising star". WTF, she's personnel officer. Last time I checked, we were force shaping that career field. HD
  20. https://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070726/ap_on_...ronaut_drinking What kind of clown show are they running down in Houston? I mean...they're frickin' NASA! HD
  21. He just needs the ascot. Those would be great for the new ABU's. Warrior ethos sustained! HD
  22. It is funny to see the Army chairborne in berets. I equate it to the rampant flight suits in the AF prior to the new regs. Agree 100%. HD
  23. Somebody promote this guy to the Air Staff...stat! HD
  24. There's your answer. HD
