  1. Why not? HD
  2. Wow, you seem have no concept of REAL combat finance ops. I think it's safe to say that you would never make it in the world of tactical finance. Today's finance airmen are revolutionary and expeditionary. When the finance warriors deploy to a forward area, they greatly increase their operating hours to accommodate the high-paced 24-7 ops tempo. Most forward finance offices engage in finance ops from seven to eleven.......that's 0700 to 1100. Not to mention no more tuesday's off. Expeditionary training is generally conducted from 1100 every friday to 0700 on monday to better "serve" our warriors. Wednesday's are generally min-manning days reserves for writing citations so our finance snake-eaters can get the Bronze Star they deserve. HD
  3. That'll be enough of that Jolly. Mindless conspiracy theories are the last thing I want to read about after getting back from a long local proficiency sortie. HD
  4. Great! All I have to do is receive the Congressional Medal of Honor, the Purple Heart, the AFEM, the AFSM, and then that mailman job is MINE!!! Who cares. HD
  5. Wusses...why wouldn't they get down into the real shit? :D HD
  6. The bronze star has become the pinnacle of wrong when it comes to bullshit awards. Everytime I see one awarded to a shoe, I listen to the citation and look at the stupid expression on the shoe's face and think to myself, "Does he REALLY think that he earned that?" The sad answer.......yes. HD
  7. You are not supposed to get per diem if you take leave. Does it happen all of the time? Yes. HD
  8. We've has that discussion before and I considered disclaiming that. But it's still better than the shoe and his DMSM and a crap load better than the friggin GWOT service medal. Besides, the point is to put the shoe clerk who single handedly won the war on terror in his place. C-21 missions don't qualify for the AM unless cross the border. At least most C-21 guys I've met have a sense of humor about it. HD
  9. "Tarnation! There's them a sprayin' planes again. Hyuh hyuh." HD
  10. Wow...I guess I never though of it that way... I personally don't care what you do. I'm not being judgmental. But as someone who has been to more than enough derkastans, I can say that it isn't always the beautiful rich culture that you think it is. Some of the countries have embraced western culture and are living like hogs off the dividends. Some are the most vile examples of existence on the planet. Many of them are uneducated, oppressed and turn to religious fanaticism as their only release. If you want to go be happy in sand land, go ahead. I guarantee you will cause yourself problems in your career. It may not be much, and it may be the end before it even begins. But I guarantee you will cause yourself problems. HD [ 29. 11. Next time he brings his shit at about his glorious DMSM under fire, be sure to give him the quote from AFPC: Then ask him how many of these he has: HD [ 29. November 2006, 18:39: Message edited by: HerkDerka ]
  12. I have no idea why you want to do this. It sounds like you want to travel more than study. You will delay commissioning, travel in the shittiest part of the world, and possibly casue yourself serious problems on a security clearance. For what? If I was an investigator, I'd be a little curious as to why an ROTC cadet wanted to take a year off from school to hang out in the middle east and then return and pursue a commission. What are your motives here? What is it you hope to gain? Where is it you want to go? I really want to hear your answer. HD
  13. Both. Fear the brass will see past his window dressing bullshit and see that he's a fraud. Panic that he won't be able to get his people in line while the brass is watching him. If I were in charge of this guy and saw this, I would remove him on the spot. Stupid shit like this should tell you something about the person. HD
  14. I've stayed both on and off base at LR. The last time I went, I stayed in the "new" billeting. It sucks. They can "add" on a room and act like it's great all they want too But it's still nothing more than making a turd into a bigger turd. The billeting is fine for just one person. But believe me that you don't want to even try it if you both are going. There are plenty of places to stay in LR that allow pets. Sometimes it can get pricey, but start using some internet apartment finders. Regarding base housing, don't expect it. Since you're not TDY enroute, losing your BAH isn't an issue. If you are getting BAH from Kirtland, you might keep it. I'm not sure what your housing situation is at Kirtland. For good info on pay at LR, check out the LRAFB schoolhouse guide. The other thing to remember is if your husband isn't going to slicks, he won't be at LR very long. He'll most likely only go through phase one and two. You could consider staying at Kirtland and sending him to LR by himself. Then you could keep the dogs and minimize the problems. The downside being you'll be apart for a while. But you're about to start being away from each other plenty, so it might be good practice for you and him. HD
  15. Negative. Don't talk tricare with the housing office. When I went through the schoolhouse, my wife had tricare coverage and I was paid my Corpus BAH. DO NOT listen to the housing officer concerning tricare. HD
  16. There has been talk of extending. But if it doesn't happen, expect a CONUS ops tour at the end of your DEROS. HD
  17. Doubtful. HD
  18. Four years for first assignment MWS guys. HD
  19. Nowhere as cheap. Don't. They're tiny enough for just one person. Yes. Make your reservation early. The TLF building is new and pretty nice. Call Little Rock housing. Definitely not in billeting, but maybe in the TLF. HD
  20. Fit to Sit. HD
  21. No bike tire malfunctions, but "Dolly The Love Ewe" managed to take a ride. HD
  22. Not exactly correct. It depends on when and where. ORBI and ORBD used to be much better. But they're pretty close to the Deid these days. Same as OAIX. They're still a little better, but not by much. Once the shoeclerks show up in force at a base (inside the box or not) it's over. HD
  23. Tell that to the med group CC at the Deid who had O-6 plates on his bicycle and a bike helmet complete with desert camo cover and colonel rank. HD
  24. I have a one word response. When they say "Oh, I'm sorry to hear that." Simply say, "Why?" with as much incredulity as possible in your tone. Not only will they not have an answer, it will make them think. HD
