  1. And the less we hear, the more it becomes suspect. I mean seriously, she still wants to run a friggin marathon after her "traumatic ordeal". HD
  2. He didn't stutter. HD
  3. There have been numerous topics already on heavy vs fighter lifestyle. Use the search function and take a look. Family and an MBA isn't something you need to worry about just yet. You still need to finish UPT, survival, FTU, and MR. You'll continue to be busy for at least the next year. Either track you go, you'll most likely be deployed quite a bit. For your decision, research the aircraft that are possible (and likely) to get dropped to you in each track and figure out what mission and what community best suits you. HD
  4. Basically I was agreeing with your jack of all trades, master of none statement. But I think the tac abilities of the Barney could be better exploited with a mind-set shift in the community. HD [ 07. September 2006, 05:03: Message edited by: HerkDerka ]
  5. There's a difference between a tac-capable aircraft and a tac airlifter. You may have the ability, but your community is ruled by the strat mind-set. Which is fine with me. If you can carry 16 pallets across the world, you need to be doing strat, period. Comparing a Budda to a Herk in tac is like comparing a Buff to a Hog in CAS. HD [ 06. 6. It depends on how much gas your plane holds. I've never flown the turbo weenie so I have no clue. But compared to planes like the Tweet, that burn rate is awesome. Hell yeah! Take that taxpayers! HD [ 06. September 2006, 19:39: Message edited by: HerkDerka ]
  7. I have never once seen a Herk WIC guy with his patch on his right shoulder. It may have been that way when the Herk WIC first stood up, but not now. HD
  8. Dos. HD
  9. Yep, the REMFs with the bronze stars are the ones who have to tell themselves they earned it when they're trying to sleep at night. HD
  10. Yep, can't forget the CC warriors. HD
  11. This is retarded. We don't need a "ground combat recognition" badge. It will just be over awarded and then every non-combat AFSC will whine about how they think they rate it. After that it will be just another GWOT-S, Bronze Star MCF. I say for the few AF guys who might actually rate such an award, let the Army award them the CIB or CAB and have Big Blue make it legal for them to wear. The Army doesn't take the CIB and CAB lightly. I think it would keep it out of REMF hands. HD
  12. I'm starting to think this is a hard concept to grasp. HD
  13. Thanks for reading my post. GYHOOYA. HD
  14. Think it through for a second guys. Going after this douche nozzle is great way to get a vengeful shoe clerk to actually come after this site. Granted he won't have much to go on as Baseops.net fights off more of this crap than you think. But seriously, don't start calling and emailing this dude. The forum mafia is strong and Baseops.net will let you know when that time has come. HD [ 16. August 2006, 23:06: Message edited by: HerkDerka ]
  15. Of course not, they made sure to stock the DEL with enough wine and wine coolers to satisfy the SNAP crowd. It still blows my mind when I'm sitting in the bar after a 16-hour mission, dirty, stinking to hell, and guzzling a brew, to see some finance butterbar fresh off his 1100-1300 shift wasting a beer mark on a cup of napa valley night train. Sad times. HD
  16. This thread is going nowhere fast. Fact: There have been people that have washed UPT and then gone to UNT. How many? Who cares. Move on to something worth talking about. HD [ 15. August 2006, 04:24: Message edited by: HerkDerka ]
  17. The Desert Penguin got shut down by the NSPFs. Irony is a *****. HD
  18. It's been done before and your hypothesis is correct. HD
  19. No, I don't have the time to hear their 45-minute rhetoric on why they are "combat airmen" with a "warrior ethos". HD
  20. You did not just say "DFAC"...yep, you did. :D Chow hall people. Just because some shoe clerk got a bullet on his OPR for changing the name to "DFAC", doesn't mean you have to call it so. Sorry, pet peeve. It has been ever since the REMFs started showing up at "FOBs". I just love the mentality of shoe clerks who have absolutely no combat application trying to figure out ways to justify their prescence "in country". HD
  21. And perhaps you should quit digging yourself into a hole. HD
  22. The Deid was the last of the holdouts, but I'm sure they've switched to PTs by now since October is the doom date. For downtown, bring some slacks and a knit shirt. Toro is an admin, but Baseops.net is the sugar daddy for the board. The Deid still had Corona last time I was there. Not as good as the days of the 16 oz. Tuborgs, but better than Budweiser. Here's the thing about the Deid, there are plenty of worse places to be stationed. The thing that makes the Deid suck is the ridiculous amounts of REMFs there who have nothing better to do than make your life shit. However, MSP detachment have sprung up across the AOR, so you can't whine too much anymore. Besides, the ability to drink a beer does amazing stuff for your morale. I'm glad to hear they got rid of belts in the CC. HD
  23. Sic 'em Rainmain. Kill! HD
  24. Could they have fit "We rock" one more time on that site? HD
