Ace- No big deal bro. Thick skin is required around here just as much as in any flying squadron. HD
-
True! Dude, I'm not even trying to get in a piss match with you. If you think we are wrong and you believe that your rap is good/funny whatever, then what we think of it really shouldn't matter to you should it? Regardless, you're not helping it by throwing a fit. HD

CH, what would we do without our favorite spy. We may not be able to change the stupidity rolling down the hill, but at least we'll know it's coming, and maybe even get out of the way. Wow, is all I can say regarding this. I think I wasted all of my energy on the service dress. But if this crap is being considered as well, then I don't feel mad at the brass, I just feel sorry for them. You have to admit all of this "look at us" crap is starting to look like 5 year old adopted kid trying to get attention from his older, taller, bigger, better brothers who refuse to look down at him. Sad. HD [ 20. May 2006, 14:12: Message edited by: HerkDerka ]

No, but making up BAD rap songs is. I think they were just being nice while you were present. HD

They'd stare in awe of my beautiful human kegerator. And then I'd make you my personal hand puppet. Ok, this thread is on it's last leg! Bendy - Calm down. What's done is done. For all - It doesn't matter if Monekysex would want her picture on here or not. A hypothecial answer doesn't count. Remember guys, this message board isn't private. Realize that we are trying to protect both her and Baseops.net. HD [ 18. May 2006, 22:06: Message edited by: HerkDerka ]

And we're off. Nicely done wax. HD

Wow that sucked. For those that were trying to figure out how to not be a SNAP, compare this crap against Dick Jonas and you'll get the picture. HD

Oh for God's sake. Just because you douchebags came up with a "new" Air Force Logo a few years ago, it doesn't mean you have to redesign every single damn uniform to reflect it. As for a quick reality check, the new AF logo has always sucked anyway. How about we focus a little more on functionality and wear as opposed to doing our damndest to start some stupid tradition. All of these generals want all of this "heritage" and never seem to realize that they're preventing themselves from meeting their goal by changing our damn uniform every five years. On a seperate note, this is such a bullshit PR move. My money says they were planning on springing the damn things on us. But thankfully those pictures leaked so at least the masses can attempt to get a word in. HD [ 17. May 2006, 11:44: Message edited by: HerkDerka ]

Classic Thread - CSAF congratulates CAP cadet
HerkDerka replied to HerkDerka's topic in General Discussion
On the other hand Boom, if he's going to roll in like this on his first post, I think he needs a little wake up. Yeah you're right. I guess completing ROTC, UPT, FTU, and combat time in OIF, OEF, & OEF-HOA don't quite compare to the rigor of CAP. I can. CAP Accomplishments You don't need to preach to the choir here. The majority of the posters here have seen combat and some more than others. The best way to give advice is to have the ability to follow it yourself. Are you sure you're not getting it confused with Boy's Town? Welcome to the board Elwood. However I suggest you read threads THOROUGHLY before you try to take the entire thread to a kindergarten level. This thread was not started as a "bash CAP" thread. A few might have taken it there, but overall not the point. The thread is for a laugh, period. Second, before you start accusing people of the inability to complete a program like CAP you might want to keep your man-pleaser shut for a minute an contemplate the qualifications of a good majority of the posters in this forum. Most of our posters are at least in the military and I think any accession training clearly proves the ability to pass military training even at the CAP level. Along the lines of specialties you are dealing mostly with pilots, a large number of seasoned IPs/EPs, WIC graduates, and almost all with extensive combat experience. Please think this through before starting a flame war in your next post. HD [ 16. May 2006, 20:50: Message edited by: HerkDerka ] -
Definitely. Part of it is the non-combatizing of the entire AOR and part of it is people in leadership positions who have some of the worst tunnel-vision ever. I shit you not I have sat and listened to an OG (Viper guy) make the following comment regarding Herks "That's bullshit, no aircraft climbs under 2,000 FPM." Seen it myself and never could figure it out. Right on. That's more of what I was alluding to in my first post. HD

Standard AETC, can't do a damn thing to actually help the 463rd. God forbid they be able to get their dirt quals in their own local area. Can't change the hallowed Charlie Climbout now can we. I'm with both of you. Typical bad decision from a micro-manager. "Shut it down completely and we won't have any more problems!" There's a difference between "fixing" a problem and "solving" a problem. Solving the problem means no other problems arise because you took the time to come up with an educated action instead of the knee-jerk fix to make everything look good on paper. HD

I'm not sure what you're talking about. If it came up within the last month or two then I don't know what kind of ops change they've input. Regardless, you never mentioned anything about a major shift in cargo movement so do us both a favor and consider that before getting pissed. Again, you never mentioned this specifically in your previous post. It's one thing to bend the rules and hack a mission. It's something completely else to blindly accept something as stupid as a spiral-up. Miscommunication from your original post. If I can't talk a controller into an alternate routing, you can bet the farm my butt is going out to holding until they can give me something better. I've been on recon yet again but I'll be out soon enough. Again, if there is some recent major shift here PM me and tell me the details. Let's not go there just yet. Absolutely not. Did you request an overfly? In regards to my post, definitely. Your original post included nothing about the hub and spoke system or some of the more ridiculous clearances you've now mentioned. So I took your post at face value. And too add on, my post wasn't meant to be a preach in anyway. C2 can definitely suck at times. But the main thing to remember is to use judgement and experience to make the controller or AMD exec work for you. Maybe not as much with the latter This isn't the place to get too deep of a tactical discussion, but basically knowing why the controllers are giving you a retarded clearance and knowing what (based on their assumptions of your aircraft) info you can give them to better your situation. Hope this cleared up some confusion. HD [ 16. May 2006, 03:31: Message edited by: HerkDerka ]

Classic Thread - CSAF congratulates CAP cadet

Because she's a dork-ass overacheiver and I believe putting ambition in the place of friends and relationships makes you a piss-poor human being. Especially at the age of 16. Waaaay too much of that shit in the shoe-clerk corps. Also the "all of the pretty doors of opportunity" that are "opening" comment was one of the stupidest lines I've ever read. I don't. Like Hydro said it's all in good fun. In military aviation we live by the code of the playground...always make fun of those weaker than you. :D HD -
Just go to Sicily LZ, then there's no question. HD
-
Yeah someone IS going in later that day...and if you were to complete your frag, you just might prevent your buddy from having to fly into the same field to drop off the cargo that you couldn't deliver. Don't get me wrong, I understand what you're saying. But as a Tac Airlifter you need to be hacking the mission and bending the rules is a part of it. It also means knowing when to press and when to throttle back. There are times for both. What's in the back might not seem important to you, but it might be damn important to someone on the ground. HD

Grenada, Panama, Haiti, OEF, OIF, OEF-HOA. All recent campaigns that have included mass personnel drops and CDS resupply. We may not be dropping as much now as we were at the kickoff of OIF, but the thing you need to remember as a Tac Airlifter is that it's your job to maintain your proficiency in these skills so that we can offer this capability to the combatant commanders. Do the pointy noses stop working their BFM requirements since they aren't facing an air threat in the box?? No. HD

From the wizards at HQ AF PA. Link To Story That's pretty hot right there. All kidding aside, I see a brilliant shoe clerk career ahead for this overacheiver. She's 16, home-schooled, the "top CAP cadet", wants to study physics and physiology, her Mom says this award is "opening doors of opportunity", and she's taking karate to keep up with the AF's fitness standards. I'm quite sure if you asked her to name ONE of her friends or one band that has released an album in the last five years, she'd stutter and her head would explode. HD [ 15. So which is it? Officers first or not? One a separate note I agree with what you're saying. However, I think the only thing that will EVER change this AF back is a full-scale drawn-out war. I don't mean kick Iraq's ass, take down all of the airfields, and then start planting shoe clerks in theater so they feel like they're "in the fight". I mean full-out war where we are actually building shore defenses on our coastlines. I hope it never happens. I'll deal with the shitty AF we live in to keep from losing 100,000+ soldiers' lives. But if it comes, I'll be there to resupply the SOF and bring the grunts their logs of Cope and copies of Maxim. Your thoughts? HD
-
I disagree completely. Privatization and contracting is part of what is killing our Air Force. It used to be if you screwed up, you went on KP. Now if you screw up, you get a counseling and sign a "statement of understanding" about your duties as an airman. We can't give you KP because we have one-eyed retards taking care of that. Once we reinstate the discipline of a military unit we just might start looking/acting like one. I'm tired of hearing terms like "Oh, that's an alcohol-related incident!!!! We'll be sending you to life skills to assess your dependency and then you'll be receiveing an Article 15, so your career is pretty much done." Am I the only one who thinks you learn through experience? If you screw up, and the boss tearing a serious hunk out of your butt, but doesn't kill your career, I think you'll learn your lesson and apply it later on down the line. This one-mistake AF is bullshit. Here's a thought....whatever happened to a good old-fashioned butt-chewing? Now we have counselings, meetings, awareness, and gayness. (If the post is a little incoherent, blame Mr. Jack) HD

+3 on the lapels. Straight out of Saturday Night Fever. I have to agree with Bergman on this one. Were they just going to do all of the uniform descisions behind closed doors and then spring it on us so we wouldn't have a chance to shoot it down like the Blueberry Suit. Our leadership seems destined to make us look like anything but an Air Force. Was anything ever really that wrong with the service dress we had before the business suits? It may not have been 100% comfortable, but it damn sure looked like a military uniform. HD [ 12. May 2006, 15:49: Message edited by: HerkDerka ]

Those first two uniforms looks so familiar. Hmmmmmm...where have I seen them before? Oh yeah. HD
-
This is one of the most bullshit statements I have ever heard plop out of a senior officer's mouth. Translation: "Ummmm yeah. Thanks for serving and all. We really do hope you continue to serve in the future......just not with us. Don't let the door hit you on the way out." HD

To straighten this thread out: The National Defense Authorization Act of 2005 mandated that all new commissionees in every service be commissioned as regular officers. All AD officers with a reserve commission must be transitioned to a regular commission as of 1 May 2006. AFPC has approved the transition lists and is updating everyone in MilPDS next week. The reason they did this is to enhance retention. In the old days AFA graduates were commissioned regular and ROTC grads were given reserve commissions and then offered a regular commission when they pinned on major. The draw down after the Cold War resulted in ALL new commissionees being commissioned in the reserves and they served on the Active Duty Roster. This gave Big Blue the legal authority to kick young officers out of service as needed to meet any force reduction requirements. FYI for AD officers, there is no ADSC for your regular commission, you cannot turn it down, and there is no new oath of office. Basically AFPC is just going into your records and changing your commission status. The benefit to a regular commission (for you) is that it's like military tenure. A reserve officer on the Active Duty Roster can only legally serve for 20 years. For a regular officer you can stay in as long as your rank allows (i.e. O-6 = 30 years). Regarding ROTC DGs getting regular commissions, I never heard of it. The whole purpose of the reserve commission was to keep all new officers in a "fireable" status. If you have .mil access you can read more at: https://gum.afpc.randolph.af.mil/cgi-bin/as...hp?p_faqid=6347 Basically this is a good thing because it's getting rid of a process born in 1947 that doesn't make sense today.
