  1. Awesome post Rotor. They're nothing I hate more when I'm practicing good radio discipline and actually sounding like a military pilot, but some other numbnut calls up and sounds like a friggin airline driver. I'm ok with "ready to copy" since clnc always tells you "advise ready to copy" anyway. But for the love of God everyone in the AF needs to stop saying "copy" after every transmission. It drives me crazy when people who aren't used to talking on the radios (AMCC, CP, TALCE) always give you a "how copy". The "Aaaaaaaaaaaand" also drives me nuts. Think about what you are going to say and then say it. HD
  2. I don't care who you are, that's funny right there. HD [ 15. February 2006, 09:28: Message edited by: HerkDerka ]
  3. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....addictive popcorn. HD
  4. First answer: Nope. Air Force tradition. Second answer: Notice this post was back when my name was PEGdriver24 (as in Pegasus). And I was commenting on what my broken wings sheet said. At least when I was there, we were still breaking the wings. I don't see any reason why they would stop doing it. Aeroriginals does sell the poem with the wing in a frame if you want to pony up for it. Maybe just buy two is you want one for the other half. HD
  5. Herkbum, I guess it depends on where you are. HD
  6. This is a Little Bird: HD
  7. I disagree. I have a good friend in TFAP that graduated Corpus with. To date I have twice the hours he does (and he has been deploying as well). The constant four on and off builds the hours. HD
  8. Definitely alive and well in the Herk world. In Corpus, a TFAP slot will generally come down every couple of classes. The guy goes and flies with a guard unit for 3 years and he is attached to an AD unit. After his TFAP tour is up, he's supposed to go to that AD unit for his next tour. More common for slicks though. HD
  9. Yeah, what in the hell would we ever need a strategic presence for. My, how quickly we forget the past when gambling on the future. HD
  10. Correction to post: Heavies = C-17, C-5, KC-135 Tac Airlift = C-130 HD
  11. Fleet Services...preferably in Thule. HD
  12. Yep. And only a short drive from Kef. You can feel both refreshed and at the same time! The only cruddy part is freezing your butt off on the way back inside. Rek is always a happening place if you get the chance to go (break). Nothing like a cold bottle of Viking beer, a $27 Jack and Coke, and a 7-foot-2 Viking chick on your arm. HD [ 01. 13. The best advice ever given: Never made a career descision based on a woman who isn't your wife. All of the above posts are spot on. While you're doing your training you're not going to be TDY at all so tell her not to worry. She can come see you. However, if she's going to whine and force you to come see her, then call it quits. While you're in training, everything needs to be put on hold for awhile. That's part of what it takes to get your wings. And if she can't handle you being in training then she damn sure can't handle you being deployed. If she can understand what is going to be required of her, fine. If she can't, it will only get worse and you will end up making some career descision that you will regret. I know too many guys that gave up a pilot slot, SIE'ed from training, etc. that are now neither a pilot in the AF nor are they still with that same girl. Use your head. HD [ 31. 14. All together a good post, however I'm a herk guy, I don't know anything about AMC. :D HD
  15. I'm totally with you Osprey. Defensive should not equal a DFC except for one rare instance I know of. It's also retarded when newer MWS's seem to get them like candy since they're not used to getting shots. It's part of the damn job. HD
  16. Gabe- The UAVs are not authorized AMs. And Amen on number 1 of your second post. HD
  17. Because that's more recognition than the bastard deserves. On the other hand, "Ding! Dong! The asshole's gone!" HD
  18. Yes I have one, and yes they rock. The guy selling them is in my squadron so I can get you in contact if you want. Just PM me. HD
  19. I suggest the Herkbox off of E-bay. It has audio in and out plugs so you can record comm. HD
  20. Very nice Scoot. However, I was refering to the cessna fliers duking it out over who has been higher in a 152. HD
  21. Doc can go eat a bowl of COMBAT DICK. HD [ 24. November 2005, 08:17: Message edited by: HerkDriver24 ]
  22. This thread has gone HD
  23. You must be thinking of the Navy. They're allowed wear their nomex jacket with their khakis. I wouldn't do it. It looks stupid. HD
  24. I disagree. I see every instructor I practically know with a different spin on TIT settings. Since when does AD have money flowing into the Herk world? Last time I checked I fly a plane 10-20 years older than yours. And with a busted wingbox. HD
  25. Turbines are always a hot topic in the Herk community after the accident. People have a hundred different perspectives on it. "The books says we can do it" "It doesn't matter, it going to wear the blades down" "Then why does the dash one allow 1010/932?" "It's a suggestion for when you need it". It comes down to how many hours are on the engine and how much abuse it has taken. Every Herk driver has their view on it and usually quite a bit to back it up. It doesn't change the fact that the view on the subject changes from one person to the next. HD
