Classic Thread - Security Forces (SFS) Tales
HerkDerka replied to Ferg's topic in General Discussion
My personal favorite: Did you ever notice that the SPS never gets any DUIs? How is that? The are the second largest enlisted career field and most of the "I got a 17 on my ASVAB" guys get put into the SPS. When I was at Vance I was following a car on the road leading into base. I happened to notice that the guy driving was visibly DUI. He had been weaving on the road, stopped at a stop sign at 20 or 30 feet to early, and crept towards the main gate at no more than a blazing 2 mph. So anyway, as the gate beeotch comes out, I figure I'm seeing another student ending his flying career early. I finally get a good look and see that the driver is an SP. The reason I recognize him? He's a freaking gate guard too! They bullshit for a minute and then he slobbishly drives off to his dorm. And of course the guard on duty had no problem getting in my face to smell my breath. Buttholes. And that does bring up one more point: Are gate guards F*&$ING BLIND? Why do they always insist on bullshiting with their friends in the car in front of you. And the damn rent-a-cops? Don't get me started. There's on here who is obsessed with checking everyone's inspection sticker. Get a life douche and just wave me through. I long for the old days when your base sticker actually got you though the damn gate. As Toro said, you need a military ID to get a sticker. -
Congrats. The first person to pull rank on baseops.net! HD

Cool Things About Herk Flying (or your airplane)
HerkDerka replied to Rocker's topic in General Discussion
Riddler - And which exact model of Herk were you flying? Which Herk has a max ceiling of 400? Did it have the afterburner mod on it? Which oil pressure? There's more than one. And IF your story were to be true, I never want to fly with you. Breaking max specified altitude just to tell a story. HD [ 16. September 2005, 00:42: Message edited by: HerkDriver24 ] -
Cool Things About Herk Flying (or your airplane)
HerkDerka replied to Rocker's topic in General Discussion
It was a Herk joke dude. T.O. states max ceiling is FL 340, but I have yet to met a soul who's taken a Herk that high. Herks don't like altitude. I only had to delete some stuff that has no business on a public message board. Other than that it is a good thread, you just need to ask specific questions on what you want to know. Then we can give you specific answers. With that said, fire away! HD -

Since when? The Retricted models I've been flying lately sure don't seem fixed. HD -
Navy and Marines don't use their service-issed buckets in AFUPT. You'll get an HGU-55 and give it back. HD

Charted MFLMETO (uncorrected if mission dicates) for contingency ops. What specifically would you like to talk about Rocker. You've got a good source of info here from myself, Linda, CH, and Baseops. For a general answer to your general question, we're big and slow so low-level and nogs are the keys. And our tactics are ever-changing with the whole Herk force converting to the "fighting two ship" outlined by the 3-3. HD [ 13. September 2005, 20:22: Message edited by: HerkDriver24 ] -
I think his name is Lance. HD

Yeah that's right. Make sure to forward that to a few Herk drivers with about 1,500 combat hours that they don't qualify to wear it since they don't have an fighter/bomber time. HD [ 11. September 2005, 19:30: Message edited by: HerkDriver24 ]

He's a terrorist. (Old Tyler joke) WTFO! I guess the 20-30 A1C Loads in my squadron have just had a problem getting promoted. HD [ 11. September 2005, 04:26: Message edited by: HerkDriver24 ]

The _________-Meter patches stopped being funny after 75% of the rated Air Force and 100% of the non-rated who wear flight suits started wearing one. The Retention-Meter is by far the most I personally don't wear a morale patch that often. But when I do there's two choices. 200 KIAS in the Herk. You gotta be careful when you're wrangling that kind of speed! Still haven't got me beat yet ENJJPT IP!!! HD [ 09. September 2005, 21:06: Message edited by: HerkDriver24 ]

Don't even go that way Boom. Thank God that assnut actually thinks he's a fighter pilot. He wouldn't lower himself to "lead" the slaves that row the Herks and Tankers. All my USAFE brothers, my heart goes out to you. Not much longer though. Even the real Mr. Burns is dying. HD

Wow. 100% incorrect. The Air Force doesn't give a crap about you until you have your wings. If you were to have a bad injury, at a minimum you'll go DNIF for a long ass time. But there's also a real good chance you could be pulled from training. Why do you think you have to do so much medical screening prior to training? It's because the AF wants to find any little problem you have and exploit it before you waste a cool million from Uncle Sam's pocket. "Attrition is not our goal" may be what the flightline tells you, but it sure isn't the same for the med group. Medical DQ is the number one reason for guys washing out of UPT. Just think about it this way. A huge break in training is not good. At best, you'll sit for a long time working a crappy job and losing training. On the other hand, you could be removed from training. Do you want to risk that with the RIF going on? I sure as hell wouldn't. A huge part of UPT is sacrifice. If you want to be pilot so bad, you need to be ready to give up your pre-AF life and study your ass off for a year. Friday night and Saturday are for fun, but the rest of the week you study. I'm not saying don't go skydiving, etc. I'm just saying that it is VERY low SA and you're juggling with your career. HD [ 08. September 2005, 14:37: Message edited by: HerkDriver24 ]

I'd like to know what the hell is going on in UPT where guys have time to sky dive, iron flight suits, and watch Iron Eagle repeatedly. HD

Maybe we are talking about a different type of C-12 assigment, but I saw at least two people receive one after Corpus. However, they had to be VT-35 students. HD

Fly Herks and you'll have plenty of time to shoot the shit with the Sherpa drivers. I've seen them do some cuhrazy stuff over in the sandbox. HD

Rant Switch - ON I'm firmly convinced it's going to take at least one class A for the AF and the politicians to get the hint. Not only are they dragging ass on the replacements, they're also too damn cheap to have the wing boxes inspected. We'll just place restrictions on all of the 38 and up birds. I'm telling you, I'm just waiting for that first wingless bird to go down and I hope I'm not on it. Rant Switch - OFF

I had no idea they plugged it already (STS). Thanks for the info. HD

They say Elmendorf is transitioning. However, there has yet to be one Barney on the ramp, assignments are still dropping, and the BRAC proposed sending for Herks there. Take it for what you will. HD

I don't really have an unbiased opinion since I've never seen the guard/reserve side of things. Basically all of the active guys are building sand castles four months on and off until further notice. The E-model situation isn't just at Ramstein. Essentially every unit beside the 50th is affected. Assignments are still going to Elmendorf since they weren't BRAC'ed. Talk to Linda for info on Ramstein. I only lived at the Rock during the school house, but I thought it sucked. Dyess and Pope were both BRAC'ed so we'll see what will happen. If it goes through, we'll all be spending time at Little Rock. AD big picture, you will be gone a ton and dealing with the damn restrictions when you're home. HD [ 17.
