Think about it this way: Only three times of victory (battles won but the war still lost) in the history of the French: 1) Joan of Arc. They were led by a schizophrenic cross dresser who thought she spoke with God. In the end, her own countrymen capture her and turn her over to the English. 2) Won a few of the Napoleonic wars for a while. Of course there were being led by a short madman who wasn't French. They still managed to screw the pooch regardless. 3) French Revolution. Yep, they won this won. But of course their opponent was.......the French. French Military French rifles are the best deal in the world. Never been fired and only dropped once. How do you spot a French veteran? Look for the sunburned armpits. HD

No, it just sucks less. HD

130wife Just let him know that if he goes to EC's. We won't be doing any low-level, nvg, form (ie any of the fun tac stuff). The EC is a very interesting mission, but low reward flying. HD

Meltdown - Here is the site you were talking about. They compare names against the BUDs roster. These guys have personally discredited two guys for me. https://www.authentiseal.org/ HD

At AF bases at least, I'm used to the trainee controllers. My home station controllers will hold a formation of Herks short waiting (with a TOT) for a T-1 on a 15 mile final on a planned restricted low approach. I love having to rolex for the noobs. HD [ 26. I can't think of anyone in theater that doesn't at least carry the peashooter. On the other hand you have crazy militia boys like Remy. "AK-47...When you absolutely, positively have to kill every mother f--ker in the room, accept no substitutes. HD

Aerd- Your point is noted. If you think I'm so wrong, please feel free to go take a ride in an unarmored humvee between Fallujah and Ramadi. Being that an armored humvess have absolutely no chance against an IED, what's the point. See what I'm getting at? You seem to have missed the essensce of my post, so I'll spell it out: THE MILITARY WASTES MONEY THAT COULD BE USED FOR BETTER PURPOSES. Any questions? HD [ 16. Speaking of plasma screens, here's a funny one. Setup: Back on my Tweet cross country, I had a total electrical faliure and had to RON at Amarillo (Friday). The IP called back to squadron and they said they would not pay for a rental car to get us back to Vance. Then we had to bunk up in the same room also to save money. The MRT came out on Monday and fixed the jet. We took it up to test it out and it worked fine, so we landed to prepare for the leg back. On takeoff, the voltage regulator failed again and we RONed yet again. On Tuesday the squadron finally relented and let us rent a car and take it to OKC. However, we had to get picked up by base trans for the ride back to Enid. The Story: The next day that I show up in the squadron. They have three new $10,000 plasma flat screen mounted on the wall. One to display the airlfield status, the weather channel, and the current IR picutre. Gotta love it. HD

The higher ups have the money to: 1) Repaint the BRAND NEW T-6s. 2) "Beautify" bases. 3) Produce yet another Foglesong commercial. 4) Develop a "distictive" yet completely useless uniform. 5) Design a brand spanking new rank insignia for the CMSGT of the AF. Meanwhile: 1) Herks being used to fight the war are sitting on the ramp with busted wing boxes. 2) F-15s are having problem with their empennages. 3) Soldiers drive unarmored humvees. 4) Every 135 model is falling apart. 5) Soldiers are going to combat without body armor. Bravo to the brass! You definitely are leaving your mark...a skidmark. Makes me sick. HD [ 11. May 2005, 07:20: Message edited by: HercDriver24 ]

Linda All I know about the MPD is that all true copiglets were suddenly upgraded to FPs by ARMS. Why? I don't know. I even asked ARMS and they don't know. I think it's just making way for the future. Back on topic. In the Herk, you may only have one rudder (barn door) but you have two pessure settings. High rudder boost and low rudder boost depending on the setting of the flap lever. Gives you that extra control at low airspeed which is ever so essential in an aircraft with four Hamilton Standards. HD

I agree with Remy on the E models. They don't have wing cracks and they don't suck at HALO. I never heard anything about the Elemndorf birds. Like I said, until they're sitting on the ramp, it's all rumor. HD
-
Remy forgot to mention that he sucks at HALO. Freudian- Dyess IS an H1 unit with the exception of three H's (aka Super Es). We've been borrowing some Willow Grove Es because our good tails aren't at home. Like every other squad, rumors pass around The latest is the we can expect some H2s on a less temporary basis. Is it true? Who cares, I'm tired of the drama associated with it. Just give me something that the wings will stay on. HD

I'm not an AFPC type guy but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night. Here's the breakdown for you. From talking with rotorhead in the past, I have learned that the assignment pipeline from Corpus is a different animal than the standard UPT one. That is to say the way the assignment system is run. As we all know, there are only two planes that gets assigned to Corpus, Herks and C-12s. With that said, it's important to remember that you CANNOT go FAIP/OSA out of Corpus. Basically what I'm getting at is that your girl trying to pull off (STS) a C-17 at Corpus is going to be a fairly high-level descision. This isn't to tell you to not try. I suggest you try a hard as you can. However, don't expect too much. And of course, this is a dependant on you two being married. Like the previous posts, the AF doesn't give two shits for a fiancee. I don't mean to be a bunghole but I think you got two choices: 1) Dump her. Since she's going to be flying Herks, you'll never see her. The strat life and the tac life don't match up well. 2) Prepare for a relationship based on SERIOUS long-term trust. HD [ 27. April 2005, 22:16: Message edited by: HercDriver24 ]

What makes me even more sick is: 1) Hanoi Jane's belief to this day that she did nothing wrong even though her actions directly caused the death of a POW. Yeah, who were the veterans that came out to support you, NVA vets? 2) The spokesperson kissing her butt at the end of the printed story. Yeah she was wonderful. To the propaganda efforts of the gooks. I'll say it again. Jane Fonda can enjoy a bloody dirty sanchez monkey bite and burn in hell. HD [ 24. April 2005, 02:05: Message edited by: HercDriver24 ]

Yep, that sounds like home. I rather be there now though! HD

If I ever meet that great man, his drinks are on me for life. Hanoi Jane can suffer a rusty fishhook donkey punch and burn in hell. HD

To answer: Dyess has no plans to do the same. HD

Ranger you weren't hearing me bro. I'm not talking about being a lead-qualified pilot. I'm talking about being the leader of a high-vis real world mission. One instance. Being able to post a huge combat accomplishment and showing mission completion and combat leadership is exactly what a board is looking for. Now I also disagree with your Form 8 statement. Yes, your qualification isn't an ENORMOUS player, but showing skill in your profession is always good. For example, evaluator experience, WIC anything like that is a great boost. Mainly because you have a lot of experience and the board sees that it would benefit the AF to promote you so you can use that experience at the more than just the execution level. It all comes back to my previous statement, the boards are looking for mission execution and saving money. HD

Bergman you are completley missing my point. I agree with you on many aspects, but I disagree on the main point. While I agree that you should list a DG from ROTC (It can't possibly hurt you) my point is that it has very very little bearing. Think of it in these terms: There are two guys up for promotion. They have the same amount of flight hours, ribbons, both great PRFs. One has a DG from ROTC and hasn't done shit since. The other led a formation of C-130s on a high-vis, time sensitive airdrop mission to resupply an unconventional force that had been surrounded. The DG bullet shows you can kiss ass. The airdrop bullet shows you are: 1) Knowledgable - An expert in your MWS trusted with high priority missions. 2) A Leader - You can lead a flight of aircraft on a difficult combat mission as opposed to a flight of cadets around a drill pad. 3) Worth It - The AF is reaping REAL WORLD benefits on their investment in you and could benefit from further investment (hint hint). Now which one do you honestly think they will pick? My point is that DG shows no potential on any scale except the past. Does anyone really believe that ROTC is "leadership training"? Like I said, it CANNOT hurt to put it down. However the board isn't interested in what you did seven years ago. They want to see what you have done lately. The bullets that show you're getting the mission done and saving the AF time and money are the ones they are looking for. By the way, this is a good discussion. It's been awhile since we had one of these. HD [ 08. April 2005, 23:01: Message edited by: HercDriver24 ]

Allow me to waive the bullshit flag right back. We are not talking about DGs on active duty, those are AWESOME for your PRF. We are talking about ROTC DGs. Now I never said "don't list it" but my point is that the board doesn't care. They'd rather see a DG out of SOS. That has nothing to do with what the board is looking for. You weren't working for the board and you weren't there when they made their selections. They want to see what you have done to accomplish the mission and to save money. Period. Please tell me you're not that idealistic. HD

Yeah it is easier. "NO ONE" Spacecom, WTFO. That's it, they've officially lost their minds. HD

It's not law yet, just a bill. If School House rock taught us anything, it is that (Cue the music) "I'm just a bill. I'm only a Bill". But then again I also learned the function of a conjunction. Good luck trying to get those songs out of your head today. Mwah hah hah! HD [ 07. April 2005, 03:36: Message edited by: HercDriver24 ]

They changed the regs a little. If you qualify for the GWOT-E then you also qualify for the GWOT-S. IMHO. I earned my GWOT-E several times. However, I agree that there are dudes who have to miss out on the fight to support ONE. I think these guys are the ones who should be getting the GWOT-S. I'd happily give mine to them up. Why? Because I've never flown in support of ONE. Recognize their homeland defense. Now, with that said. The current situation stands that the GWOT is fast becoming an "everybody gets one" National Defense-esque medal. I say let's approve campaign medals for both OIF and OEF. That way, the guys in the fight get their recognition and also the guys at home get theirs. And when I say guys I home I mean units flying ONE missions and missing out on deployments. I'm sorry, but I don't think shoeclerks should be getting GWOT medals for doing their everyday job and going home everynight. HD

Dude DG will not help you on OPRs. Like the man said, "What happens in ROTC, stays in ROTC" Think of it this way. On an OPR, boards want to know what you're doing NOW. They already know what you did in ROTC. Backseat- No it doesn't dude. DG is a nice thing. But when a rater looks at your bullets, he doesn't care about what you DID. He cares about what you are doing now. And a reality check for all of you. No one puts DG on their bullets for their Major Board. If you do that, expect to remain a captain for awhile. Like I said, they doesn't care! They want to know how you have ensured mission completion and saved the AF money. HD

Question: Is that min a restriction for peacetime, contingency, or both? Like I said, in Herks have have two restictions: 3,000 X 60 for peacetime TOLD for contingency ops But we also weigh a butt load (STS) less. Not trying to get a versus match. I just don't know a lot about your bird and I'd like to know. HD
