Guys lets stop kicking this dead horse. Face the facts: 1) Some students have been accused of cheating. 2) You ain't one of them. Let it go and quit fighting with people about it. HD

BTW If you need to buy and IFR simulator to help you with the radios, you have no business in an airplane! Seriously, just speak in plain language and tell the dude "Who you are, where you are, what you want". And for God's sake be brief. Other wise my tone button is gonna getcha. HD

Shack one Beaver. I absolutely couldn't have said it better. Rant Switch - ON To those who are posting on this topic and acting like they are a Mr. Integrity: If you're not a pilot or a student, STFU. If you are a pilot, I say eat a bowl of dick. You know you gouged. And if you never did gouge, it's probably because your classmates thought you were an individual and hated your guts. Gouge is part of our culture and always has been. The real test is in the plane folks. The tests are just window dressing so the leadership can send some numbers out to the generals. If the test were just enough, then why did I have to discuss TOLD with my evaluator when I was at FTU? It's because ground training is BS. You cannot even try to get a working knowledge of Herk TOLD in a two day, four hour class. It just doesn't work that way. That class is to put some numbers on paper. PERIOD. Furthermore, after UPT you are required to have an up to date MQF as part of your pubs. This goes to show you that all pilots and those who will be know that you should use gouge, but you have to learn stuff on your own. Gouge is one of the most effective teamwork-teaching tools I have ever seen. Alot better than the "leadership" techniques you read about every Friday in the base paper. Ground pounders live in a black and white world. The aircrew live in the grey. Because that's how you fly combat. Bending, Breaking, and even Smashing the rules to bits. Remember, No combat ready unit ever passed inspection and no inspection ready unit ever passed combat. It all comes down to this: I don't care if someone is gouging or not because a real pilot can pick out the information that he truely needs to know. I know I do. Rant Switch - OFF HD

Ecutch- You don't have any stats posted, but I ASSume you are going for a pilot slot. I'm going to save your career right now. NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER use the term "migraine" again unless you honestly think you have a brain tumor. The words "migraine" and "allergy" are the absolute best ways to get your pilot slot ripped away from you. I tell this from experience. I had a good friend in my UPT class who was getting some headaches. I think it was mainly due to less sleep and no enough fluids. Anway, he showed up to the flight doc and used the no-no word. He was immediately DNIFed and removed from training. He had to go to several clinics to receive cat scans and MRIs. He found out that it would take a minimum of six months to get an answer from the higher ups. He was sent back on casual status and given orders to Ramstein. When I was in CIQ at Little Rock, I heard that he was finally starting pilot training again (a full 1 1/2 years after the initial incident). All this just because he exaggerated about some headaches. To clear this up: I did my mine down at Pcola, it was some of the easiest and most fun training I've ever had. You won't do anytype of measured swimming, just parasail into the water and get dragged behind the Big Dog. I can't say much for non-parachute water survival, but I wouldn't think it is much different. Navy water survival is easy too. They might have to do some actual distance swimming, but that's their own damn fault for joining the Navy. And that "Hell Week" stuff is crap. Navy guys are famous for their exaggerations. HD

Since you're single, you will most likely be billeted in the BOQ on base. That's the way it was at Vance. You can try to live off base, but you have to fill out some forms and get permission from the OSS/CC. It doesn't matter if she's your girlfriend or fiancee, if you're not married, the AF will not let you have any type of family housing. Now, with that aside, there have have tons of guys who lived with their girlfriends, etc in the BOQ. However, it is against the rules and the BOQs are too small for one person anyway. Whichever base you go to, all you have to do it talk to the OSS/CC when you arrive. Let him know your situation and there should be no problem for him to allow you to live off base. I don't know how other bases are, but when I was at Vance, guys were allowed to live off base for the most nominal of reasons. HD

For those not in the know, instead of going through the amazon link, just go to www.dosgringosrocks.com to get the CD directly from Snooze and Trip. HD

Ummm yeah, I pretty sure we might have heard it once or twice. On a related note, I hear M.C. Hammer will be soon releasing a song called "Can't Touch This". HD

Far right has got to be old Ronnie Fogleman former CSAF. I have no clue on the other two. Middle guy might be former ACC/CC Richard Hawley, but that's a guess. HD

That's it. Thanks bro. HD

Anyone have a link to the picture of the C-17 landing with only one set of mains on the runway? I know someone posted it a while ago and I've been tearing up the search function, but can't find the damn thing. HD

Ummmm....Black pens are good. HD

It all depends bro. If you are having a no shit, life threatening, time critical emergency, the IP will almost definitely take the plane. Remember he has the "A" code not you and he's the one who has to answer to the DO. It all depends on the type of emergency it is, what skill level you are at in your training, and how comfortable the IP is. Not to mention the IP's experience level too. If it is something mundane, the IP might (I stress MIGHT) want you to handle the emergency procedures to increase your confidence. After that, I would still expect him to take the plane and land it. Ask ENJJPTIP, I'm sure he has some good info on the subject. HD [ 11. December 2004, 22:17: Message edited by: HercDriver24 ]

None issued. At least I've never been "issued" one. Survival vests normally have a bolt knife and a small pocket knife. You can find good boot knives in your local military clothing store. HD
-
I definitely used some Jepps going to a few out of the way type places. HD

Five Minutes with the CSAF, Informal Survey

DOC = Reminds me of the Deid. If I had to see one more of his "Thanks for all you do! By the way, did I mention I'm a fighter pilot?" commercials, I was gonna off myself. HD [ 01. December 2004, 20:41: Message edited by: HercDriver24 ] -
Can you join AAS without being a cadet? No. However, you can be a civie and join Silver Wings. There are plenty of dudes involved with that organization. It's basically a support organization for AAS. Only downside is alot of cadet's girlfriends are silver wings so you might get a rep. HD
