Best first post ever. I can't stop laughing at the hot mic.

Are dishes allowed on base anyways? I don't think I'll need 250 channels while at UPT.

I wonder if going to OTS for 3 months and not having a TV is a good enough excuse.

I'm trying to switch from cable to Dish Network or Direct TV before football season. Both places want an 18-month or 2-year committment to get a decent deal. If I sign up for one of these, would I be able to cancel my service when I leave for OTS without paying a fee? I know there's something like this for renters, just wondering if the same applied here.

My guess is that is the percentage that comply with that requirement.

I found this, but this wasn't the chart I was looking for. The one I remember was color coded based on what your sitting height was.

Ever been to Abilene?

I love Warbirds, maybe more than most, but give me the piece of ass. And for the record, I've ridden in a P-51, Sea Fury, A-26, B-17, and others. Sure, they were great times and I'll always remember them, but not as much as I would giving it to Jessica Biel.

I know you guys are tired of hearing the "which aircraft are at which base" question so I figured I'd try to help out future pilots and pilot-selects. I don't think I'd ever tell an IP "Well this is how my dad taught me", I just want to get some exposure to formation. I consider myself a n00b pilot (only 80hrs) so I'd just like to get the feel of being a few feet from another wing. It might be just more of a mental thing than me actually practicing anything. Chuck, I'll try to take some cool pics. I've been lucky enough to hitch rides in some cool Warbirds (P-51, Seafury, A-26, TBM, B-17, etc) but not too much stick time in them (with the exception of an hour in a T-6).
-
I'd be flying with 2 certified formation airshow pilots. I'm not sure what the difference between what the AF does and what they do during airshows, but that was why I was asking for some pointers. All of my hours have either been in a Cessna, Bonanza, or Bell 47, so needless to say flying a few feet from another aircraft is something to get used to in itself. I was just wondering if other's felt this would help at all. I'd love to get a T-6 Dash-1 and start reading, but my luck I'd go to Whiting and get the Turbo Weenie. I'll start reading Dash-1's when I'm on casual.

I'm a recent pilot-select waiting on a class date. I know I have a while before I even set foot into a UPT classroom but I'd like to get ahead if possible. From what I have read on here, the biggest obstacle to UPT studs is formation flying (correct me if I'm wrong). I have access to a couple T-28s and have the opportunity to do some practice formation work. Do you guys think this will benefit me in the long run? Is there anything I should do that would alleviate some of the newness of UPT flying? I'm not asking for any info that shouldn't be disclosed, just some tips or pointers on a way I can familiarize myself with the AF way of flying. Thanks.

Education/Student Loan questions (SCRA, repayment)

Does this apply to spouses too? -
So how do I ask for this out of OTS?

Need pics of girl.

Thanks alot. So the flight docs at Sheppard are the ones who fill out the waiver info. That's good to know I guess. Also, I wish I could have done MFS at the same time to avoid the chance of me getting commissioned, then failing something at MFS. Is there any way I could do MFS before OTS to not only speed up the process but to eliminate the uncertainty of getting to UPT?
-
The flight surgeon at Sheppard (where I took the FC1) or Brooks will put together the waiver? I guess I'm confused on the handling of the physical after it's completed by the applicant. Here's my understanding of the process, correct whatever is wrong: 1. Physical takes place 2. Physical gets signed off by flight medicine at FC1 base 3. Physical goes to Brooks and gets looked at and waivers are completed there 4. Completed physical is sent to AETC Also, I didn't know waivers were pending until completetion of MFS after OTS.

Just finished my FC1 a few hours ago and everything went great with one exception: My right eye was -1.75, which is .25 over the limit for pilots. I passed DP, I'm correctible to better than 20/20, near is perfect, etc. So I'll obviously need a waiver for my diopters (think that's the right term). Does flight medicine actually apply for the waiver for me or is this something I have to fill out? Do they send in separate paperwork for the waiver, or do they just send in my results and the people at Brooks automatically do the waiver for me? Could someone briefly go over the process for me? Thanks. Yes, I did a search.

Do all FAIPs start at Randolph? If so, how long are they there?
-
My FC1 is scheduled on a Wednesday and I will have to drive 2 hours back home afterwards because I have to work the next day. Will my eyes still be dilated enough to affect my driving? Will I even be able to drive home afterwards? I asked my recruiter and he said I should be fine but I think I've read otherwise on here.

I know of someone that thought it'd be cool to fly through a huge cluster of party balloons in a Stearman and f'ed up the leading edges pretty good. Dumbass.

My dad flies various Warbirds. He flew the FG1-D to Sun N Fun a few years back and had this convo: Guy: This your airplane? Dad: No, but I'm the pilot. Guy: You mind if I sit in it? Dad: Mind if I f**k your wife? Or this one when we took the OV-1 to some airshow: Kid: Mister, your bomb is leaking! [points at drop tank with fuel dripping from vent tube] [ 22.
